I first heard this song in 1990 (thanks to my maternal aunt Cheryl), the year I finished high school and started college. I'm 52 and still enjoying Ultravox. I even borrowed two or more CDs from my local library with Ultravox music on it.
I loved Ultravox as a teenager. Our generation grew up under the shadow of the Cold War and this song perfectly encapsulates that. This and Vienna are amongst their best.
Im 18 and i grew up with this type of music. I literally adore 80s music all thanks to my mum who’s music taste is brilliant. These days teenagers are only listening to commercial music. Ultravox is in my spotify wrapped 😹💗
I mean in their day people called the new romantics movement a more commercial and poppy take on the New wave nerds that had come before. There's great music in all generations and genres, just a lot more mediocre stuff that wont survive the years.
You know, one of the best things about being in my 50's now, is that I lived my teenage years in the 80's........Priceless, and I wouldn't change them for the world!
I'm here - still in awe of Ultravox that I've loved since I started listening to them in 1988 ! Loads of thought went into each song - unlike todays crap bands. Ultravox forever.
I came of age very much still in the Cold War in a potentially prime target in the US, which my friends and I preferred as we'd go first. We were 11-13 years old. Later my husband shared his own memories of this period, because his father was literally a nuclear physicist at Bologna University who was receiving constant calls after Chernobyl. He also grew up with the preference of going fast. This song was memorable, to say the least!
I do love the 70's and the 90's music, but the 80's is something special, and the fact i was a teenager throughout it means i really was very lucky indeed. I pity those coming through to adulthood today, they don't know what they missed.
In 2023,..i am 58/59..shortly... And still listen to Ultravox in these ever changing times and war torn world,..were ever there maybe such goings-on.. Thank you Ultravox for your music..gr8.
One of the best ever videos. Hard to watch at times, such are the emotions it generates. And, with Midge Ure in charge, you are also guaranteed a haunting, beautiful song.❤
The 80's, what a fantastic era for music and for this literally awesome song and video by Ultravox. Written in 1984 when the event of a nuclear war could have started and what this song is about. Here we are again in 2022 and the world is in an even more unstable crisis than back then. The possibility of it happening now seems more likely and a real possibility. If it is going to happen this is how I would like to go... Should it occurr, God bless you all Hiroshima Mon Amour (Foxx/Ultravox) In their own right as the "frontman" of Ultravox on seperate occasions, John Foxx and Midge Ure are in their own unique way are what made both versions of the band great. They are possibly two of most decent and sincere and talented influential musicians/song writers there have been in the music industry and deserve a damn site more recognition. They are the only band, in my believe, were neither versions were better than the other. Thank you for giving us ULTRAVOX RockWrok
I first heard Ultravox in 1984 I was in 8th grade one of my classmates had their cassette so we listened to as we waited outside for our next class teacher. Just that one song got me hooked on them. Still enjoying there songs today in 2022.

First band I saw live. 1984 ~ Set Movements. Southampton. They set the bar high and so far never seen a better band. I started playing the bass because of Chris Cross.
I used to have The Collection compilation album in the 80s both vinyl & cassette & I had an audioline walkman which I used to listen to on my way to work in the mornings. I totally rinsed that album this song Hymn & of course Vienna being my 3 faves at the time. LOL.
The sound affects at the start of the music video are reminiscent of those at the beginning of Ridley Scott's science fiction film entitled Alien (1979).
I am 57 and the 80's were the best of my life listening to this music.
Condivido 🎉🎉U2,Simple minds,Toto,REM, Ultravox,Cure,Talking heads.........😢Pink Floyd, Bowie,Mike oldfield......

Ultravox omd and spandau ballet were my favourite artist in the 80s
Never have music like this anymore his voice one of a kind

When an 80s pop song sounds better than any pop song in the last 20 years
Midge Ure, one of my all time favourite singers. Cute too!
Reminds me of roller skating in the 80`s. It`s great that people can make memory out of music. Thank You so much all you 80`s bands. :)

RIP Chris Cross
RIP, indeed. Cross played bass guitar. He was 71 years old. The other founding members of Ultravox are now blokes in their seventies.
The voice is a great song with the whole band playing drums at the end...The Scotsman

Living out a memory of a love that died
It's late and I'm with my love alone
We drink to forget the coming storm
We love to the sound of our favourite song
Over and over

It's time and we're in each other's arms

Reap the wild wind imo is their best song, its synth perfection.

Una canción hermosa con un ritmo muy pegajoso y que al mismo tiempo evoca mucho nostalgia.
