She came from absolutely nothing, had a horrible start in life and by 19 years old was a star. She did it with practically no help from anyone. That’s pretty amazing.
Such moving, beautiful tribute to Joan! Despite the 'Snow Queen' image, I feel like she had much warmth and was more delicate than Davis. That's why she didn't live as long, she struggled a lot, and was very sensitive about things. Too proud to ask for help, she would suffer alone. She portrayed strong, ambitious women, way ahead of her time. And the strong eyebrows look? Joan did that first! People need to learn about Joan from her movies, interviews, from her books. I'll always love her!
Wonderful tribute. I’m so glad Joan’s reputation seems to have righted itself in the modern era and shaken off the mommie dearest stigma. I feel that the internet and places like RUclips have saved Joan’s reputation. You can bypass Bias and stigma and see her movies and interviews directly for yourself. Her great acting performances, her charm of manner in interviews are instantly apparent. In 2018, in a post feminism, post “me too” world, Joan’s tenacity, drive and bravery will all resonate with a new generation.
Beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady inside and out. Joan Crawford is my favourite film star of all time. I was only born in 1970. However, I have many of her films on DVD. I think your channel is amazing,. This is a beautiful and moving tribute to Joan. It’s wonderful to see how many people still love this remarkable woman. She was way ahead of her time.
This video is absolutely breathtaking. The love and respect you have for Joan really comes through in your videos. The way you depict her, with such sensitivity and grace- it's spellbinding and it's why your Joan videos stand above the rest on RUclips. This is such a great retrospective of her career. Much like the case study of Bette and Joan, which brought my attention to the parallels between those two actresses, this video made me realise (for the first time) just how similar Joan (or, perhaps more accurately, Lucille LeSueur) was to the characters she portrayed, particularly in her earlier films. As well as the film quotes you used throughout, I really loved the quotes about Joan herself. My favourite was "She devoted her life's energy to creating the character of Joan Crawford". It's really quite heartbreaking, especially considering what happened to her legacy shortly after her death. Your editing, as always, was flawless and I loved your clip choices. The music was also beautiful and perfect for the story you told. Thank you so much for making this
There aren't enough tributes to any movie icons as. Crawford, Davis,Stanwyck, Hayward, Hepburn, Russell,Taylor,Gardner, Gish,Garbo, Bancroft, every Star became a legend &an icon each have different. beginnings Crawford didn't have no one's support she fought her way up to the top Davis too with Ruthie & sister Bobbie went through a lot, all these great legends deserve tributes some were lucky to be alive some were not to witness such tributes, they all deserve recognition &to be loved &admired thank God their lives &achievements were in film so they could be remembered forever...
To Secondhandroses, Your videos never disappoint. They are of the purest, most exquisite quality that no one on RUclips has achieved. Your work on Miss Crawford and Miss Davis is truly remarkable. Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift! I’m a fan! ❤️
She didn’t even have to open her mouth, her eyes said all that needed to be conveyed. Number one actress forever!
