Oreads have elemental beings of earth somewhere in their ancestry.
give them the appearance and aspects of rock goes or elemental traits.
so first off awesome. Be a rock monster like the thing, check.
looking at their stats its pretty standard +2 strength and +2 wiz and a minus on charisma.
and they only have a movement of 20. so starting off meh nothing amazing.
they do have dark vision unto 60 feet which is nice and an added acid resistance but more on that later.
so here's where things get fun.
magic stone basically means they are never without some kind of weapon. I mean you think something made mostly out of stone would
just always be considered a weapon but maybe its a sandstone or something.
    anyhow
having access to magic stone could be a really good benefit for low level campaigns or in situations were weapons are forbidden of unacceptable.
mind you this is a level 1 cleric spell spell so its not like you couldn't get it another way but its not to shabby. Then looking at the alternative racial trails really gets silly.
If you think magic stone is lame. that fine toss it. take ferrous growth instead and you now have a Swiss army knife in your pocket in the shape of a pebble.
once per day you can transform a small stone into a 10lb piece of steel in pretty much any shape you want. it's suppose to be intended for a sword or shield or crowbar but
who's to say you cant make it into a bear trap, or a chain... 10lbs will give you 50ft of chain... manacles, lock pics, climbing pitons. sooooo many options. hell if you
really wanted to piss off your dm you could turn it into a Metal Glove and just stick your hand into anything you think might be traped with reckless abandon.
    moving on,
another option would be take granite skin instead of your acid resistance. which would give you a starting natural ac bonus of +1 which isn't to bad for a lot of classes,
that alone I think makes Oreads a good options for fighters and clerics that know their going to be in combat a lot.
but say you wanted to keep the acid resistance. you could always take the stone in the blood trait, which replaces earth affinity which really only matters if you choose
to be an earth cleric.. meh...
the alternative is that every time you take acid damage, regardless of if it goes over your acid resistance or not you gain 2hp per level per day as fast healing 2. That's amazing
you can basically just buy acid flask for 10 gold, or make them yourself if you want go that route splash some on yourself (or an near by enemy) take the 1pt splash
damage and just sit back for free healing.
Hell. if you're really in a pinch or surrounded by rats or goblins just smash the flask over your head, take a maximum of 1 because of your point of damage and let everything
    else just slowly burn away.
hell if you're really in a pinch and you have a cool gm just carry around some lemons and squirt some in your eyes when the chips are down.
Either way Oreads have some pretty cool little tricks you can play with if you look at their alternate traits. they have quite a bonus spells and abilities like Guarding as an optional
shield abilities which allows you to grand your shield bonus to your allies. basically shield other as a shield enchantment.
So if you haven't played an oread or you just think its about time to start Clobbering things roll one up and give it a go

One of my players ran an Oread Druid, one of his favourite combat tricks if the party was facing a fighter was to make a grab for their weapon and use Ferrous Growth to change its shape to that of a rubber duck, making it effectively useless as a weapon.

I'm a first time RPGer. just joined a party this week. (higher-level party lvl8-9 so I didn't roll for stats the DM and I put him together to fit in)
Oraed Titan FIghter, named Ryninsadifraa. Wielding his Earthbraker "Sunder"
he is on a quest to find his stolen son, guided by so vague words from a belligerent oracle "He will be found with great evil"
Hulking (6"7) Onex Skinned with a topaz beard. and after a great victory intricately carves tattoo of his defeated foes on to his skin.
I'm already having so much fun(bashed a giant spiders fat face in).

i know this is a late comment but could you draw up a warforged juggernaut artificer battle smith that is trying to keep his race a secret? i know you already did a video on warforged but i feel like a juggernaut trying to blend in would be an interesting sight he is a knight who wields a large 2 handed war hammer or maul. if not its cool your videos are still really fun and interesting to see your art style. keep making videos please

You should check out r/characterdrawing and set up that character as a request. Sounds like a cool character and there are a lot of great artists there that pick them up, I do as well from time to time.

What if you use the “Path of the Giant” subclass and “Giant Foundling” background to flavor your Genasi characters as the Giants that match their elements?
    Earth Genasi/ Stone Giant
    Fire Genasi/ Fire Giant
    Air Genasi/ Cloud Giant
    Water Genasi/ Storm Giant

Hey there! I’m new to D&D and I’m on my second campaign, and I wanted to choose my race as an Oread paladin. For the shield ability, does that take up a trait, or is that a bonus spell you just start with?

    • @Rookzer0
      @Rookzer0  5 лет назад

Are you using the pathfinderr rules or a homebrew for dnd? They do get a natiral armor bonus which is really nice and free as a racial trait.

Rookzer0 I’m using pathfinder, and my GM is not well versed on oreads.

If you are talking about the shield abilitys you have accesz to like guarding and greater guarding they are magic enhancments that you should still pay for but i would say you should have access to on a starting character or at least be able to have made because of your own background.

    • @Rookzer0

If you are talking about ferrous growth it replaces the magic stone ability. Which I think is a great upgrade and would do it almost every time.

Hey do you have any experience with the ifreeti wish master? It reminded me of the old wish master movies but I feel like it would debuff like necromancer.
