It’s a red flag when most hiring scripts mirror one another.
Since I’ve been submitting resumes I’ve starting getting nonstop spam calls. I never actually answer my phone anymore unless I know the person.
I'm sorry to hear that. When sharing resumes, especially on job boards or less-known sites, there's a risk of your information being accessed by spammers. Consider using a separate email or phone number specifically for job applications. Also, make sure to submit your resume to reputable sites and directly to company websites when possible. You can also register on the "Do Not Call" list to reduce spam calls. Stay vigilant!
You can update your phone. Now the app is scanning for known phishing numbers and are blocking those. It will take few seconds to analyze. Keep updated so spam numbers gets updated too.
get block app!
I have this lady who got me to take a wire transfer. now she is asking me to do the smaller transfers. I'm glad I'm paranoid

Heather, this is so timely! I was going through a weird exchange, and happened to see your email about this video! So many of the warning signs were there!
*Radio silence from the recruiter, then shared that something personal occurred, I felt terrible for, I replied as empathetically as I could, theeeen
*The recruiter sent me an email invite to my work email -here's the catch, I never shared my work email. it FEELS SO OFF.
*Role seems perfect but reviews on Glassdoor are laden with type-o's
I sent an email to please use my personal and not my work (also shared that I never shared the work email and that this was ODD). Ugh.
Ugh! That's the worst. A lot of red flags in that one. Keep your eyes open to this. If you're putting good practices and strategies into place, you'll eventually find a great opportunity. Let me know if you have any questions about your job search.
Challenge accepted! but damn I really wanted this job to be real.
Part-time job that pays 3000 per month, red-flag? Customer Service MANAGER position offered to me who has no experience.
Hi Heather! Great video. One of the things that I am finding SO annoying is sort of a bait and switch situation. I receive an email that a desirable company is hiring, go to the site and either 1) have to sign up to apply for said position or 2) go to the site only to be told THAT position has already been filled but here are others to consider. I've unsubscribed to several this last week.
Sadly scammers know all of this. I have seen scam posts with a website, email and social media presence. I guess the safest thing to do is trust your gut on this one and not divulge personal information too soon
Workers count on their benefits for peace of mind 😞 We cannot tolerate this! 😤
Or apply the old fashioned way go in actual company or business and fill out paper application
I've seen the exact same job posting - word for word - for multiple companies that are not specifically identified. Why would someone do this?
Hi Amy! Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure why anyone would do this. It's pretty disheartening. Most of the time the scammer is looking for money or identity theft. Ugh! With how fast LinkedIn is growing, we're seeing this more and more.
What if the company doesnt have a website or physical address or phone number
How about getting the personal infrmation .. i think i applied in a fraud application . Will you help me about this.. thank you
Interesting content . referred by York University, Class of Public Relations.
Awesome! Sounds like you have a great teacher.:)
If they have a webaite or physical address
Some dont even have a phone number either
What about recruiters requiring you to provide your full name? First, middle and last name in the initial stage?
They are scammers. They are harvesting your infos,or mining your data, to use it to steal from your bank account or commit a crime with your identity. Please run🏃♀️ .
I dont think there is anything wrong with providing three names, that is like a very normal thing in any official matter be it school, job or governmental offices. Speaking from experience from Tanzania
Great question! Providing your name up front is totally okay. Just don't share bank account details or social security number. Hope this helps!
Yes@@rahmahussein2743 , you're spot on!
how about address, is it okay? in remote work
I took a job without video or phone interview. Nothing wrong with that. I think more beneficial is to visit to know the commute. Maybe it is bad location.
Absolutely! While video or phone interviews are common preliminary steps, for some companies they're not always necessary, especially if the employer is confident in a candidate's qualifications from their application materials. Visiting in person can indeed offer valuable insights into the commute, the workplace environment, and the overall feel of the location. Every individual and situation is unique, and what works best for one person might not for another. It's essential to prioritize what matters most to you in your job search and decision-making process. Please keep us posted on how the job goes!

@@ProfessorHeatherAustin I made a report on reportfraud.ftc.gov
Im having an issue with a temp to hire agency, they actually got me to interview with the company and they told me the company wanted to hire me but the heavy Indian accent and having to disclose my personal information for the onboarding process. Online it seems about 50/50 that this company is a scam specially when on Google the company seems to be in a chiropractor office building, but google pictures are kind of old. Website does look very well made either. The interview with the actually company has me thinking this agency could be real but everything else seems like red flags.
Hi there! It's crucial to be cautious in today's digital age, especially when personal information is at stake. Thoroughly research the company on platforms like Glassdoor and LinkedIn. If something feels off, trust your instincts and ask the agency direct questions about their relationship with the hiring company and their procedures. Always prioritize your safety and ensure any data exchange is secure. It's better to be safe than sorry.
