A star studded gathering at rock music awards in Dublin’s Rumours nightclub, with U2 and Phil Lynott among the guests. The third annual Stag Hot Press Rock Awards took place in Rumours nightclub in Dublin.
U2 members Bono, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Junior and their manager Paul McGuinness accepted the award for the album ‘War’,

Phil wouldn’t want us to copy him. We’ve never tried to copy anybody. We actually did and failed originally. It’s very important that a band develops its own character, it’s what U2 is about. I hope we’ll still be here in 15 years’ time.

Phil has got the best reward of all time, Phil was the rocker, a most loved, highly intelligent, kind, and generous man who was the leader of the greatest rocking band that ever set foot on stage, plugged in the equipment to the mains electric supply and let rip like, My 6 brothers and 1 were the very lucky ones to see Thin Lizzy playing live all over the lands many times, sometimes 3 nights in a row and yet each night was different and brilliant, every show was better the one before

15 would have been way more than enough.

Phil was the very best by a long country mile, yet he was NEVER narrowminded or nasty about the people good luck, skills and good fortune, Phil was not a man to wish ill on others. As for Bono the history book is not yet written to give him and his band the full credit for the great music they produce and the vast amountgood they have done to help the poor people of our world,
