Just wanted to add that the 72hz setting is available on ALL Pimax Crystal models, not just the Sim edition. I use it all the time on Assetto Corsa and Iracing. Also the battery is charged during PCVR/Wired usage so unless youre using AIO mode youll never have to swap a battery, thats my experience anyway.
Is this something you would recommend as an alternative for a monitor? I am looking for getting something with fantastic resolution to just recline and use.
Pimax were an early competitor to Valve and since the original 4k was better than the index this led to the whole "valve cult" starting a hate bandwagon against Pimax. This is the cause of a lot of the negative reviews. Basically the TL:DR is that pimax sent out early software and products to build up hype, then influencers made negative reviews (because it gets them more views) and so when the later reviews on the fully functioning software by people who aren't dependant on getting youtube views came along they're largely positive and so the ultimate appearance is mixed.
@@jimmydesouza4375 I think it's more a case of Pimax sending out hardware/software too early and then patching. They should wait, ensure everything is robust, then distribute.
Comape the Pimax Crystal and Pico 4 sharpness it is night and day difference or not? can you estimate how many percentage of sharpness would be a difference? I like simulation but i usually use room scale vr also. So it will be worth the upgrade or should i buy Q3?

LOL!!!! it is now 2024. Yes maybe it is a very good headset, but not for me at the price tag. I wil see what the mewer Crystal Lite headsets have to bring to the table at the lower price tag of 699 dollars. Waiting for reviews of the Crystal lite when it is released to get a better insight of how good these will be. Should have same optics, Display port connection, less eye tracking and battery wireless operations. Ideal for my SIM racing games. take care.
Look in to the compatibility issues the 30 series have with displayport. Basically Nvidia screwed up their architecture and so all of the 30 series do not put out enough power on the displayport to work high resolution screens over longer wire distances, which just so happens to be VR in a nutshell. As such a lot of headsets do not work with the 30 series (not just the pimaxes, also applies to the reverb, the varjo aero, a couple of others). There are some things that are supposed to work around this problem, such as displayport repeaters, but there has been inconsistent reports as to how well these work. Which is really annoying as a 3090Ti owner. Also Nvidia are supposed to give you a displayport repeater for free if you own a 3090Ti (as it is the most heavily effected card) but they're just refusing to in my case.
Thanks, Siminoni, I really appreciate the comment. The FOV is definitely larger than others, and it really sucks you in, that's for sure. I would have to play a bit longer to see if the FOV is really a big game-changer. I will be playing some more Elite Dangerous today and will let you know here what I think!
@@simioni Pimax is coming up with wide FOV lenses soon, it has interchabagle lens system so you can just switch lenses. They should offer additional 6-10% more FOV.
I'm basically a caveman when it comes to vr so excuse my question... but could somebody advise me. I'm interpreting this info as telling me you can get this headset without a gaming pc and use it via streaming sites to play games? Can I get one of these headsets and set up an account using the headset to play or fo I need a pc also? I don't want a pc. Is it possible?
9 out 10 headset reviews for 1000+ dollar headset, are done by simmers. not that thats a bad thing, but it leaves out testing other games out and shows: pcvr high end, lays with simmers, they are the main group

no wireless = no buy. Crystal "light" has no standalone and no wireless and is still heavier than a Quest 3.
