      Does the planned 12K have WiFi6E, or 'something' else?

    This is quite a feat. So many companies have tried to do this, but none have really succeeded. And now you got full resolution on a high end 8.3MP headset.
    I think Pimax should also use the foveated transport and see how much they could get out of the inbuilt Wifi on the XR2. Like if they could get half the resolution and low compression sweet spot with a software update for the OG Crystal.

    If the claims of Native resolution are true, this is actually really impressive.

    • @blenderalien
      @blenderalien 4 месяца назад

      They're smearing this term. The guy in the video said "renders native 2880*2880 per eye" which is false. Full native for the crystal is 5300*4200 per eye because of distortion compensation, and the difference in detail and sharpness is substantial

    • @laartwork
      @laartwork 4 месяца назад +1

      Took 2 sec search that per eye it is 2880x2880. Don't go by what your steam settings are saying. You can delete your comment now.

    • @blenderalien
      @blenderalien 4 месяца назад

      @@laartwork what? Of course the panels are 2880x2880 per eye. But since distortions compensation needs to happen in order for the image to not be distorted after going through the lens, detail is lost from the render. Therefore, you need to render more pixels to fill out the panel at full detail after distortion correction has been applied. And for the crystal, that resolution is 5300x4200 per eye being RENDERED to actually achieve 35ppd.

    • @laartwork
      @laartwork 4 месяца назад

      The claim is it still renders wirelessly at the native 2880x2880. Nothing changes.

    • @blenderalien
      @blenderalien 4 месяца назад

      @@laartwork I guess they should not be talking about rendered resolution. With or without distortion compensation, 2880x2880 pixels per eye of information needs to be transmitted (leaving out eye tracking here), no matter how these pixels were achieved (i.e. supersampling to combat distortion correction)

    In the video, you're testing it in an ideal environment, so it's not surprising that it worked solidly. But how about real world environments where there is RF interference and conditions are not ideal? And what is its behavior when the signal is blocked? What does it do if you intentionally occlude it? And how quickly does it recover? If you turn away from the transmitter and look downward, your head will be in the way of the signal. Does this block it? If you look down further, your chest could block the signal, too. What is its behavior in these cases?

    • @laartwork
      @laartwork 4 месяца назад +2

      That's why it's 60ghz and why the transmitter needs to be in the room and elevated. It's the same thing with the Quest DLink solution for placement.
