- The new Toyota Supra is Mark's favourite car of 2019...including the Alpine A110. *shocked face emoji*

Hi everyone. Sorry the video is a bit late and that the sound is slightly iffy in places. Technical problems. *sigh* Hope you enjoy the video anyways - let me know what you think below. Cheers. Mark. x
HonestJohn.co.uk the video is great as always. Think you’d get more subscribers under a new channel name and more focus on high end cars rather than everyday bread and butter vehicles.
weight wrong for the alpeeeeen in the graphics ..
all vents are functional for tuners

@@nyc863 And HJ's assessment of the practicality of the Alpeeen is well wide of the mark - the boots while not conveniently arranged will easily take my wife's weekly shop (he's not using 2 thirds of the rear boot) . Many of us Alpine owners use them as dailies - and regard that as one of its strengths not a weakness.
@@johnclucas1523 I'd prefer the Alpine it is amazing but obviously the supra has the advantage in practicality whether it be shops or a weekend away.
What a crackingly entertaining vid. Love your enthusiasm. Folks, get subscribing & spread the word this bloke knocks spots off everyone else. 👍
i'm waiting for your long term review to see if it is up to Toyota rehability somehow.
Your videos are just brilliant, keep up the good work!
Isn't this Supra biggest disappointment of it's legendary successor ?Nothing special about this car, Porsche is better choice...
Almost as disappointing as the twit doing the review
Liam Morris couldn’t agree more. 👍🏻
Great 50% though
$49,900 base, 3.7s..., 170 mph
Always enjoy your reviews and this one was particularly good. I always most enjoy your descriptions of how the cars drives, I’ve never seen any reviewer do it as well as you and I click on the notification mostly because of it. As for the Supra, visually it walks up to that line of self character parody and just gently nudges across it. I’m not a big fan of those front lights. In a world where I could afford these cars, I’d still spend out for the Alpine for being unapologetic for what is, rather than a Toyota/BMW hybrid.
Apologies to Gary. Loved my Camry. Menoporsche. . 3.2 sec 0-60, no spitting flames. Room for the family. £50k. Await your Tesla review.👍👍👍
Utterly brilliant review! Hate the look of the supra though, and you looked so uncomfortable!
I just beat you to 40, and... mid-life crisis or not, I can't afford this. :( So, diesel 208 for a while longer... unless there's a nice 2013 CR-Z out there... lofty heights.
No need to say wassup guys or anything. You’re the best out there. The Supra is ace, and won’t have the reliability issues of German metal. Oh, hang on, it’s a Z4. D’oh!!!
Convincingly good presentation, well done😎🇳🇿
I sat in one yesterday. DIdn't like the 6 fake holes in the seat headrests (in addition to the 10 fake exterior vents). Outward visibility is terrible, the windshield's vertical height is so short between the dash cluster and ceiling, also short is the vertical height between the top of the infotainment screen and bottom of the rearview mirror.
you've always done the best reviews.
Well that is 95% noted, just you had your cap on the wrong way round
Good review overall, but you waste too much time at the beginning of the video.
Another great video, you are forgiven for being late. . .don't do it again!
this car is so cheap in turkey it cost 220000 us dollars in u.s 49000
So, the only Toyota thing about this is the ugly exterior? 🤔
When oh when will the likes of Top Gear take you on and get rid of the current crop of Clarkson wannabes?? Due to sight loss I haven’t driven for 14 years but still love cars and the RUclips reviewers help keep me up to speed. I like your blend of humour and factual delivery. Well done.
Steve
Thanks mate, appreciate that. 😀
@@HonestJohncouk2000 it's the truth.!
Great review as usual, I want to like this car but can't help thinking it's a BMW parts bin special.
Yeah, same.
The chassis was co-developed by Toyota and BMW, the drivetrain and powertrain were borrowed from BMW, along with access to the majority of their parts bin (although Toyota had many parts modified to meet their standard of reliability), and after those few fundamentals, both Toyota and BMW parted ways, never to speak of the project again until they were ready for manufacturing.
Not sure why the 'Supra is a rebadged Z4' meme even exists but like the tired trope 'A70 isn't a real Supra,' it lies nowhere near fact, but watch the ignorant repeat it for decades on end.
Love your work HJ team. Thanks Mark, great info. We'll have to wait for the next one, toyota/BMW puts out. But don't hold your menopause on it.😁😂🤣🤣 thanks.
With this collaboration I can’t stop thinking of another Euro-Japan fun-car collab, the Mazda-Alfa Romeo project that turned into the Fiat 124 - with about ten sales annually in N America. That’s really a marketing failure and this looks a much better car obviously, but still...
PS. Great review, I’m looking forward to your thoughts on the Tesla 3 and as M. Cadogan calls him, Electric Jesus.
GOD DAMN IT MARK, I WANT ONE MORE CAR. Good review though, really felt the excitement from driving the Supra!
Alpine = great backroad and trackday car. Also looks good and different, IMO. Cayman = great all-round sports car, but frankly, IMO, it's a bit boring to look at as there are so many of them about and it's been around for a long time. The 4-cylinder engines also do it no favours. I acknowledge the new 4 litre six in the new GT4, but that's in another price bracket, and it's not that much quicker than the Supra. Supra = obviously a reskinned Z4 and, IMO, all the better for it, with the top engine, which is likely the best engine of all its competitors. The reskin is also great, IMO. Yes, lots of fakery, but no more than many others. IMO, looks the most manly and sort of like a junior supercar/musclecar. Very good relauch of the Supra, IMO. Also has the engine in the right place for a road and GT car, ie, the most forgiving placement. Long live the inline six! I think it's also important to note that the new Z4 roadster - the Supra effectively taking the place of the Z4 coupe - is also a great roadster that is now a genuine alternative to the Boxster.
It’s astounding that Toyota gets infotainment systems so wrong when you consider the Japanese reputation for electronics.
BTW, Mark I find your style very entertaining. You have wit, skill and a way with words.
A recipe for good journalism.
An excellent review, Mark, although you looked rather short of space in the driving seat, with bent arms and legs, especially in a sports car.. Was the seat fully back, or are you just unfeasibly tall? . It's amazing that the Toyota version is the "proper" sports car, while the BMW is, relatively speaking, the boulevard cruiser. It's better looking than the Z4 too, although that's no great achievement, given BMW's hopeless recent efforts.
Even with the slight sound issues, far too much enjoyment gained from your work and dodgy peppa pig segment... I forgive you.
Love the reviews - even those that fuel my own mid life crisis whilst giving me no hope of getting over it. PS great hat too!
Not sure why Toyota are still providing the press with cars to thrash when they have apparently already sold all their production quotas? **puzzled face emoji** Guess the rest of us will just have to buy the unthrashed Z4 instead. **big grin emoji**
Hit it on the head. It's a BMW essentially with some Toyota suspension tuning but a great car regardless. All it needs is a manual transmission option now.
Been debating a Supra and Mitsubishi Mirage with a 40N877 V twin engine swap to get my track times up.
Cos it's a BMW !
Good stuff!
The gearbox isn't from BMW...
Great video as usual. Not a car for me personally, too much of a mid life crisis vehicle.
Best car reviewer by far
That was well funny, you're ace
Love your reviews. Do you read all the comments??
Thank you. I shouldn’t, but I do because it’s proper cool when people say stuff like this. 😁
12:12
Lol, wow.
Good review Mark
Great review! As in Great!!!
you've always done the best reviews for cars
Thanks very much. Not sure about “always” - they were terrible for quite some time. Some say still are. 😂
You can thank your EU legislator nannies for this car NOT sounding loud in sport mode, because in the rest of the world it does pop and bang in sport mode
motomusiq yes because all the AMG and RS made in the EU don’t do “bang” noises. Get a grip
@@baubaul Mercedes announced this year they would be making a single sound profile for all cars around the world because of the EU legislations.
Liking a fake BMW? All those, ya know, Germanic parts just saying ‘help me I’m stuck in the wrong car’... thanks for getting that out the way and liking it for what it is and pointing out the unique & good bits. Unlike most reviewers.
Now go and watch yourself with the auto generated captions on. 😉
I am going to watch the video presently. Just so you know.
Well now I know. :-D
@@HonestJohncouk2000 You do Mark. And make no mistake about it! (Still haven't watched but will soon, honest!)
Watched. Great. Thank you.
It was all going so well till you said you can’t buy one. What will I spend my inheritance on now?
That dash screen is very dirty. Is it spots of speech spit?
Did not stay until the end of the review as it was obviously a slightly less good Beemer
...come back. You’re very wrong. 😁
Cliff Davis come on man, his reviews and edits are amongst the best on the tube. He’s funny and different. We need this amongst the myriad of so many similar tubers. IMO.
