Instruction for anyone seeing this or RUclips it 1) Open the battery cover 2) Carefully use a sharp tool (such as a box cutter) to lift over the edge of the internal plastic cover, then pop it open with a screwdriver 3) Remove the speaker magnet (pictured below) using a screwdriver 4) Put a bit of glue over the corners on top of the electronics board 5) Reattach the plastic cover and battery cover
The findmy network still works when the phone is off, the AirTags location will be updated when the phone is powered back on, also there’s a high chance you’ll drive past somebody else with an iPhone
@@Lb.q2 yah AirTags use bluetooth Beacon technology, there's plenty of videos on how it works. The point though, is that this comparison shows the tracking being real-time on the very iPhone being used to track it whilst it has full cell-signal... that's not realistic for a stolen vehicle test. A dedicated GPS tracker is far more reliable and real-time.
Another Air Tag -ve point is that it relies on being within bluetooth range of another iPhone & sharing it's location via the cloud to it's owner. If the car is parked up somewhere secluded & no other iPhone owner is within range, it won't be discovered.
This is a good point but I think its more of a network that's created by the iPhones rather than one nearby so imagine all the iPhones connecting up over the country and forming a giant signal net with lots of crossing over lines that the airtag links to rather than directly to nearby phones. I think that's how it works. Perhaps we can take it to somewhere barren to test!
I use both . £19 ebay SIM tracker that is faultless and a airtag. Once they find the airtag , they thing they are safe !
Regarding the con of easily found & deactivated. Just hide it well & take the tiny speaker out of the AirTag, it takes 2 mins.

Thank you k6six and Johnny. Great tip! Il try and do this with mine sometime and made a short :)
@@k6sixthanks for the tip - I’ll put one of these in my wife’s handbag
Awesome video ! im tracking you now ;)
AirTags only work when near a phone. They have no GPS or Mobile signal. So if the thief turns off their phone - the AirTag is useless.

You needed to drive the car off and leave the phone with someone else
Oh, I didn't realise you can use Airtags if you're an Android guy.
