You know you're a dad when you're discussing Grease preferences
Haha, I literally laughed out loud.
Yup, gonna have to get one of these.
Cool, it's a great grease gun!
Great video explaining this grease gun
Thank you!
I prefer Lucas Red And Tacky. I use it on my commercial Zero turn and loader pins, on tractors and farm implements. On my boat and trailer wheel bearings I use Lucas marine grease. I've been using both for several years. I think opinions on grease are just that opinions. More important is you actually grease things. These battery grease guns make that much easier. Great video thanks
Thank you, I always used marine grease on my boat trailer. I sold it a few years ago and hope to buy another one someday. I agree that actually using the grease is the most important thing.
Just got 1 , i use John Deere grease on all my JD equipment i also got a lock & lube good stuff enjoyed that.
Thanks! I'm thinking about getting the lock & lube end for this one.
My wife just bought me one and I love it
That's awesome, she must know you well to give that for a gift. It's an awesome tool, with great ratings!
I prefer Lucas red and tacky also love the Lucas green and tacky best for farm equipment
I am wondering about the "priming trick" and see there are several comments below about "wishing I knew of this trick."
What is wrong with using the primer release valve that is built into the grease gun?
I have several hand operated grease guns with a primer valve and they have all worked well for me.
Just curious if I am missing something here.

Amsoil NLGI#2 in the warmer climates and #1 in the Winter for Truck, Chassis and Equipment. There's also Arctic for extreme conditions or Water Resistant for Marine, Powersports and trailers. X-treme Synthetic Food Grade Grease, Industrial multi purpose and Racing Grease. Need some? ask me :-)
Schaeffer 238
Badass grease is great I use a case a day on my 470 John Deere trackhoe
Great grease gun. I use Shaeffer grease. Awesome!
I haven't tried that grease out yet. I'll keep an eye out for it.
I love my dewalt grease gun and I put a lock n lube trigger quick coupling for easy install and uninstall off the grease zerks
Great idea! I've been thinking about doing that as well.
lets be honest you bought the lock n lube trigger because amazon suggested it. dont lie

@@ggezpro7163 I bought the lock n lube because I had been wanting to buy if for 5 years had nothing to do with Amazon or anything else I dont lie to people I cant stand liars
Lucas red and tacky or the green one is one of the best grease I have ever seen
I agree, I use their red and tacky grease.
I've had this grease gun for 6 years now and always had trouble priming a new refill. I hear a little @5:50 about this pulling rod out and turning it to push air out, I wish there was more talk on that part cause I never heard of that before, like how is that rod staying out just by turning it, nobody seems to expand on that part and after 6 years of using this grease gun thats new to me..........
I had to do a little research to find out about the priming tricks.
How do you know when you've greased a given zert enough. Seems you just hold the trigger for 3 "grinds" or so, but don't see you looking at anything. Is that just experience that that is usually what it takes?
That's a great question. I often just do enough from experience. Some items I grease show some grease flowing out in other areas, like trailer bearings. 3 grinds seems like a good amount if you do it on a somewhat regular basis.
What's that tool you hammer the log down on to split it st the beginning? Obviously a log splitter, but is there a specific name for that particular variant?
That's the Kindling Cracker XL. It's well made and easy and safe to use. I need to make an update video for it.
Good video i would have loved for you to bleed it with the valve as well
Good call! I just used this a few days ago on my trailer bearings. It's still going strong.
Pro One Lubricants EP2 and EP1 grease is the best I have ever used check it out, 200,000 psi pressure and out standing technology
Thanks, I'm looking into it.
@@MarkThomasBuilder, they do grease and a whole range of lube sprays and engine additives also I haven't used anything else since I was put onto it
Thanks I'll give it a try. I'll probably start with a lube spray.
Hi, can you use a 4.0 AH 18 V battery on this grease gun.
Yes
Would you mind if you tel me it takes 400g cartridge or 450g ?
The cartridges I use in this grease gun are 14oz/397g.
Is it compatble with Screw Type grease tube ? because it's much easier to change!
No, I believe it's only set up for the traditional type cartridge.
@@MarkThomasBuilder ah okay! thank you! too bad, it's sooo easy like that
Since new,, mine leaks a lot grease out the back end of the tube through the rod hole when pulling it out. Wasting a lot of grease.
Humm, I haven't heard about that being a common problem that that grease gun. Is it under warranty still?
Mine also does that and I haven't fixed it yet. I think it might have to do with it possibly being set up for bulk grease filling vs tubes. If I remember correctly you might have to reverse the follower so the lip faces the other direction for tube canisters. Hope that helps.
Will it take a standard tube of Grease
Yes.
@@MarkThomasBuilder ty for responding I was hoping it would
Funny: presenting a Dewalt greasing gun with a Milwaukee jacket. Dewalt gun looks similar to my Milwaukee gun.
Very easy when greasing the slewing ring on my mini exavator. Connect the gun on the ring and start greasing while sitting and turning onto the exavator.
I love my Milwauke jacket, lol! DeWalt needs some outdoor gear and I'd gladly wear it. I often see backhoes and excavators get the grease, when at jobsites.
Luck tube on it or whatever it's call to lock on it and you don't have to hold it
Thanks man, I need to check that out.
Lucas Red n Tacky
That's good stuff. My Scag mower calls for red grease.
I have used Green Grease for years. Great for the outdoors. Check it out. Mike in Alabama
Thanks for the advice, I'll check it out!
Is a question
I get alot of Greece be hind the plunger and makes a mess when you change a tub . A big pile comes out of the rod . Not happy with this . To me it's a wast
Huh, I haven't had that issue. I just checked the reviews on it and they seem very positive overall.
I know of three that do the same thing . My gun is two months old and a box of Greece though it .
Okay, thanks for letting me know. Have you heard much about the Milwaukee grease gun?
Is it actually worth forking out a few hundred dollars for? Gets to be a pain greasing the mini excavator by hand and I've been on the fence about one of these for a while but struggling to justify the price. However, I might just have to if it's worth it.
I'm happy with this one still, which is a year later. It will tackle the outdoor equipment much faster than doing it by hand.
Oliver Maskell, I have all Dewalt 12/20v tools. The grease gun is the only one I hate. I’ve wasted more tubes of grease trying to load it than I can count, and I use CAT Moly EP2 which isn’t cheap. Talked to Dewalt numerous times and they sent me a new cartridge which was no better. Lincoln started the electric grease gun revolution, and they’re still the best.
I will say it’s durable and the battery lasts quite awhile, even in winter in ND. Lots of power to push grease on cold mornings, I use about 5 tubes every day, changing the battery every few days. It can also take a pretty good throw across the jobsite whenever it blows out a brand new tube of grease while reloading it. This also happens a few times per week.
@@russ3164 Cheers for the review, sounds like it's really not ideal for ultra heavy applications. I only have a 2 ton ex which isnt used daily, so wont be using anywhere near the same amount of grease as you. But definitely interesting to hear. Did Dewalt give an answer as to why it keeps blowing out tubes?? I too, run all dewalt tools and have no complaints with the others. Unfortunately here in New Zealand the Dewalt tools are all 18v and they dont make an 18v grease gun. But by the sounds it, that might not be a bad thing now.
They told me they’ve never heard of the problem before, but were quick to send a new tube for it. It worked a little better, but half the time you have to use a channel lock pliers to get it off, and it’s see through (once).
Milwaukee has much better reviews online. I do have both Milwaukee and Dewalt tools so if they want me to consider their grease gun I need a big sale.
I can use 5 ah batery
Yes, that will work
dont lick the pop cover :)
Great advice, lol!
Don't want to sound like an ass whole but those black large pack batteries or 3:00 amp hour batteries
I showed a 20volt 4-Amp Hour Lithium Ion battery used to power this grease gun, seen at the 2:25 mark of this video. Does that answer your question?
I’m going to be buying one of these to lubricate the nipples on my Telehandler 👍🏼
It will work great for that.
i prefer to grease nipples the old fashion way by hand
You did it wrong.
Please explain. I got it to dispense grease like I wanted it to.
