Finally WM-Vtol 2018,
A great event to look back at. it's get even got better when they decided there will be a new event in 2 years! So your choice, which model should i attend?? 1/7 scale F-35B or a bigger 1/8 scale Harrier? let me know in the coments. Also i decided to make a vertical lift system for the DO 31! 2 pegasus motors in one cargo plane! this is so cool!

Congratulations to everyone. All of you made a LOT OF WORK TO DEVELOP THOSE MODELS!!!
First time that Ive seen this video so Im a bit late. Watching the Pogos transition to horizontal flight was superb.
The complexity of an R/C Harrier or F 35B is stupendous! Balancing the nozzles and puffers to the 3 axis controls must imvolve some creative mixing and esc useage.
Before the blurb at the end I was like, "Wouldnt it be xtra cool if someone were to build a large scale Do 31 !" And then the build blurb came on screen!
I dont yet know if such a build has taken place, but if it has I should expect it will have been done in Germany! Darn it I miss that country so much. Happy memories of beer by the Main at my sisters campsite.

In the 50,a my dad took us to see the pogo, I think it was in Norfolk, also saw the jet version. Was young and didn't appreciate it like I do now. This makes me want to get back into RC again

The is one of them in Air Force Museum at Dayton, Ohio. Museum is HUGE and admission free. Could take a day or two to see everything in detail.

A mature performance, what was shown here! 👍I am currently practicing in a simulator (RealFlight) with the V-22 Osprey and the Harrier. After about 6 hours I managed a clean start, transition to forward flight and the same thing back again with VTOL landing at the starting point. It's extremely difficult.

Very nice Joel , thank you ! Pity you crashed your Harrier 5 days before. According to this video, the only plane that made it from VTO to conventional flight and back to vertical landing is the POGO. Although the POGO concept is less complicated I'm surprised he didn't get one the podium places.

The Pogo and the vj101 were truly impressive,first ones to actually transition from vertical into full aerodynamic flight. The harrier wasn't impressive,just a dressed up drone,can get a millennium falcon model at Wal Mart that does that! The osprey and the other tilt rotor were basically ungainly twin rotor helicopters come on guys please tilt them engines forward!! Both neat as hell. Was the second one powered by a single engine like the osprey? Man I bet the power diverter/ transmissions were a pain to make!!!
Joel's flying bedstead was amazing when I first watched quite a while back! Even with no aerdynamic capability with this concept,still looked awesome in horizontal flight!

Very well done Joel! it was an amazing achievement to re-build the model in few days and get second place! Are there any more videos of the SU-X on youtube? Would be nice to see how it was built.

I know that others have made the point about the muzak, but, I want to add that people who watch these videos are fans of all things mechanical and want to hear the sounds of the machines, not an MTV video. This is especially true now with actual turbines, radial engines and multi-cylinder nitro and gas engines. RC planes today are amazing compared to the old .049 string control and basic RCs of the past. To paraphrase an old car ad, "This is not your grandfather's RC.", although you may have to save for 60 years to afford one. lol

Gentleman I wish I was a pilot like you guys but I'm not I'm trying to be these are some amazing vertical takeoff and Landing models need to work on stabilization the bed but they are fantastic let me say

I've often thought that a great big lump of foam and 3 rotors (or six as three pairs of contra rotating ones) would make me a nice TR3b...

Bharathwaj Sujatha Yes correct, i didn’t had a fuselage because i crashed it 5 days before this competition. I happy to fly the concept frame and did more testing en adjustments.. it is getting better and better!😃

Why so far away with the video? You can not see what the planes are doing.
Not so easy to film fast moving planes. Even harder when zoom is used. The screen on the camera in daylight.......you cant see anything......I put empty wc-roll on top of my camera with hot glue....when model is in center of the roll you are filming it. :-)

waarom heb je je F35 niet meegenomen? deze vind ik persoonlijk interessanter.
Arjan Van De haar die gaat over 2 jaar meedoen, maar dan een 1:7 schaal model ipv 1:10 ik begin deze week al met het maken van nieuwe mallen voor het grotere model;) als je het leuk lijkt maak ik daar ook bouw filmpjes van?

Too bad the V-22 or the 609 could not convert to airplane mode
