I purchased this machine from Lowe's at the end of September 2023. It worked awesome until right before Christmas. While the machine was running, the app prompted me to perform a software update to the app. The machine stopped in the middle of the cycle, locked me out, and the "on" button flashed. I could not get the machine working again.
Even though the all-in-one came with a one-year GE warranty and I purchased an additional three-year warranty from Lowe's, I still have no working machine as of today, Feb 1, 2024. GE finally authorized a buyback, and I purchased another brand-new machine from a local dealer 45 minutes away because they have their own service department.
The story's moral is to find out who will repair the machine before buying it. GE and Lowe's have areas where there is no tech coverage. I am still out over $300 because GE will not cover delivery, setup of the new machine, and disposal of the old one. They need to eliminate the slogan that they care because they don't. I will never buy another major appliance from Lowe's; they did absolutely nothing to help.

Does this make clothes hotter than conventional dryers and causing them to shrink more? I have the kenmore elite 41002 which shrinks clothes and curious if this solves the heat problem.

Thanks for asking. This model actually always dries at a low temperature but has a high air flow! Clothes may feel a little damp when the cycle's over but if you give them a quick shake, they'll be dry in seconds!

Like everything that is new, the price tag is high to recoup the development stage. Once volume get pushed, then all their parts are more available and they can produce more. I’m hoping in 5 years it’s $1,500 set up with competition. But even then with all these computers, sensors and features, that will only mean it will have issue 3years+ cause it’s new technology so buy extended warranties lol

Hey GE, since it has wifi, can you control it via your phone? For example, even the wash cycle is done, can you set your dryer settings & turn it on from an app? Or can you program the wash & dryer settings at the same time?

Hi M'lissa- There is no need to be concerned. This unit does not vent air into the home. The unit recycles the air that is sealed into the system when the door is closed. Can this be used in conjunction with an O3/ozone water generator? Will the ozone damage the appliance? Thanks.
Hello Michael - Thanks for checking with us! The Combo was not evaluated for use with O3 water systems, which are not common in residential laundry environments. Ozone can lead to reduced life of certain types of components that are commonly used in most laundry machines as well as the Combo. Testing of these systems for their impact on laundry machines is the responsibility of the ozone system manufacturer. We hope this helps! -NC
How can you put a dryer sheet in before the drying starts?

Good question! Our GE Profile UltraFast Combo will allow you to add a dryer sheet after the wash cycle is done. However, you may find that you don’t need to. Static cling is greatly reduced due to lower heat, less aggressive tumbling, and no over-drying.

You're correct that this is an all in one washer/dryer so there's no load transfer that's needed. With this unit, you're able to wash a large, mixed 10 lb load in about 2 hours. If you've got a large family or lots of people living in your home, and you find that you have a lot of laundry to do, two combos can be hooked up next to each other and run simultaneously and independent of each other!
-They need to each have dedicated 120V outlets.
-The drain hoses can share the same standpipe as long as its ID (Internal Diameter) is greater than 1.5”.
-The water hookups can be shared used two adapters as follows: With a short hose and a y adapter the HOT line can accommodate both hoses for HOT water to each unit; and, with a separate short hose and y adapter the COLD line can accommodate two hoses for COLD water to each unit.

Good news, two washer/dryer combos can be hooked up next to each other and run simultaneously and independent of each other!
-They need to each have dedicated 120V outlets.

Funny you mention that, this model does have built in wifi and is able to connect using the SmartHQ app. One of the benefits of connecting is software updates and also that you can be notified when your laundry is done!

Does this have dryer heating elements or is it condensation dryer?
No elements. It is ventless, but it is not like any condenser dryer of the past. Our engineers reimagined the drying performance. This tech-forward Combo pairs a high-speed fan with a heat pump system for breakthrough results! It tumbles like a conventional dryer, but instead of blowing hot air over the clothes and dispersing that air outside through a duct system, our heat pump dryer recycles the air. It warms it in the tumbler, condenses the moisture into water via evaporative cooling, then drains the water out through the drain hose. #geprofile
This makes a clunking noise when it first gets started. Is that normal? Sometimes, items get stuck on the drum and don't get dried at all. How do I prevent that?
Hey Jacki!
Front-load units start up differently than top-load units; it takes several seconds to check the system. The door will lock and unlock, which is more than likely the clunking noise you're hearing. The Combo also will run a Load Sense at the start before filling with water and commencing the wash portion of the cycle.
For the second concern, have you tried varying the amount and types of clothing you're putting into the Combo to see if this helps? Also, if clothing is getting stuck around the edge of the door, this could be because items are plastered during high speed spin or get pushed between gasket and glass. If this is happening, we recommend trying to use a nylon mesh bag for small items that may become trapped between the door glass and gasket and do not fully dry.

Our Combo would be a great fit for an apartment! Just ensure you're able to meet the installation requirements, which you can view on page 22 of the manual, available here: spklr.io/6055WhJL .
We are on 2nd one of these. After a month or two of failed fixes we were given a new machine. The new one leaks water out of that blue rubber hole inside after the dry cycle. Also, if you put anything in the bleach holder it immediately leaks out of the same hole. Hard to explain how disappointed we are.

She is working again with customer service who has been great once you get thru but if she hits a roadblock I'll have her reach out via facebook. I was under the understanding that you should not use fabric softener and/or dryer sheets because they coat the sensors in the machine Is this a true statement? I know on my LG they did not want you to use them. Thank you for any information.

Hi Chuck- We apologize for not being clear. There aren't any issues with using a fabric softener. No issues with the sensors. The second dispenser drawer is for fabric softener. You are also allowed to use dryer sheets if you prefer. Just use the wash complete notification and insert the dryer sheet after the wash cycle is done. We hope this helps!

I’m curious how much water it uses per load.
Hi!
While the water used per load will vary based on options, cycle selections, as well as type and amount of clothing, we can let you know that the Combo uses, on average, 14.4 gallons per cycle. There's also a More Water option that you can use should you want to add more water to a load. This option adds up to approximately 3 gallons to the wash and rinse portions of the cycle.

So I can only do one load at a time
Yup! This unit can wash and dry a 10 lb mixed load in about 2 hours. There's lots of other cycles and options too, like a Quick Cycle that can wash/dry in about 70 mins should you only have a small amount of laundry. Toss some clothes in whenever you'd like and come back to them clean and dry; you needn't carve out a whole day to do laundry anymore!
Where do you put the dryer sheets 😂😂😂
If you wish to use dryer sheets, you can add them to the basket after the wash portion is done. You do have the option of setting up a Wash Complete notification, so you’ll receive an audible alert when the wash cycle is done; you can then add the sheets. The unit will go ahead with the dry cycle within a few minutes after that alert.
We can also advise the design of our drum and the high air flow in a sealed system already provide optimal drying and reduce static cling, so dryer sheets may not be necessary for most loads!

Hello - we're so sorry to hear that your new UltraFast Combo is not draining. This is certainly not what we would expect and we're happy to help. First, please disconnect power to the UltraFast Combo unit via your home circuit breaker. Then, please check that the wash load is not out-of-balance. Next, please check the that the pump filter is not clogged. Also check that the drain hose is not kinked or improperly connected. Make sure the household drain is not clogged and please make certain the drain hose is not siphoning water. Lastly, please make certain your app is updated. Okay, I like it but I spend about 4 hours just separating whites, colored, hygiene and working clothes. So instead of splitting drying and washing for each load, now I have to wait for 1 entire cycle to be done.
And for me as of now, my washing cycle is about 1 hour each( washing and drying) So while I wash second load I dry my first load.
This machine is nice for a single person but not convenient for a family.

They stole my idea. I came up with this idea when I was a kid back in grade school.
What a coincidence! Our engineers used crayons to draw this idea up too. Maybe that's why it took them 7 years to get the UltraFast perfected!

Why it took this long for manufacturers to combine the two and implement forced air instead of high heat for drying baffles me. They say capitalism is suppose to lead to innovation but they ignore it also breeds stagnation as industries fall into rigidity to protect profits from risk.
We had a Bendix single unit combo that used forced heated air for the dryer mode back in 1959.
It will take u forever to do laundry if u have more than one load to do🤷♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️.

We hang dry our clothes anyway
So im going to be skeptical here. Usually things like this come out, sound great but 6 months later after everyone has purchased them you read nothing but disappointing reviews. I want to hear how well ...or NOT well,,,,,,,,this thing does and how it holds up. Having one machine that goes from wet to dry wet to dry over and over sounds like a moisture/bacteria/rust field day. I will hope for the best but not drink the cool aid yet.

Odor has actually been tackled by our engineers with the help of Microban on various sections of the Combo (gasket, drain hose, detergent drawer area, etc.)

Why would you have to do that? Do you not separate your colors and whites anyway? It would just do the loads. It also has a dry only option. So you don’t have to go through the washing cycle just to dry

At the end of the cycle, the air-tight seal technology may cause some items and the air inside to feel slightly humid, but the clothes remain dry.

This might be good as a space saver, but it means it'll take twice as long to get multiple loads done. Not practical!
It's great for saving space and works well for individuals as well as families! This Combo allows you to think differently about doing laundry. No more "Laundry Day" doing load after load, just toss a load in whenever you'd like, large or small, and come back to clean, dry clothes 🙌
