The only negative to using an L bracket is if you have a floppy screen it restricts the use of your screen. The workaround is to remove the part of the bracket that goes up the side of the camera and replace it with an arca swift plate, some minor drilling may have to be done on the plate to align the screws. I shoot Fuji xh2 and that fix works for me.
My Wife and I used QR's for years until we got 'L' brackets. Arca-Swiss is what I went with and never looked back. We use Arca-Swiss exclusively now.
Thank you😊
You're welcome 😊
I’ve learned so much from watching your you tube videos thank you
Glad to help Mary, thanks for your support.
Another awesome video that answered some questions for me. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful, thank you for watching.
What a coincidence! I just purchased an L bracket for my 5D Mark IV that will be here tomorrow. I just recently completed a architectural photography class and I could have used it, so I’m excited about taking my photography to another level.
Just to let you know, I did the same thing, but I did it about six months ago love the way it works out for me
I’m from the United States and love your videos to learn from. Keep up the good work!
Awesome! Thank you so much.
great video ProMediaGear makes a great L bracket for the r5 and r6 that lets you fully open the back screen and doesn't block the side for the different connections .
Good advice Paul!
Great little accessory. Will check it out. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome, thanks for watching.
Hi, Paul. Your landscapes and cityscapes are crazy beautiful. That L grip is pretty cool. I won a Lumix mirrorless camera on RUclips, and I absolutely LOVE it! I still have all of my Canon gear, but I'm not going to invest in DSLR ever again!
Thank you. Yep the L brackets are certainly very handy! 😃
2 yrs ago an L bracket along with a cable release and nodal rail, were the best purchases I've made in my 4.5 yrs of photography
Hi Paul. I bought a couple of L brackets for my two cameras a while ago, and I wouldn't be without them now!
😃 🏆
Both of my tripods are Arca Swiss heads. absolutely love them along with my "L" brackets on both of my cameras. Saves a ton of time when switching from portrait to Landscape.
Thanks for watching and supporting 👍🏻
It was a good informative video as most of yours are, but this was particularly good, as it quickly differentiated between the two systems and highlighted the benefits, without getting to complicated.
Glad it was helpful, thanks for the feedback 🙂
Cool video Paul
I like L-brackets as they make using a tripod much less of an aggravation
Agree 100% 😃
Nice 1 Paul
LOL I did the same thing (Smallrig grip on my ZFC, Smallrig L-Bracket on my Z5, and replaced the ball head on my tripod with one with Arca Swiss) for the same reasons. Plus that these Smallrig Plates/Grips have an attachment point (below the camera grip) for an anchor (in my case Peak Design) which makes, for me, a more desirable way to have a strap attached to a camera as with the strap attached low it is no longer interfering with my hand gripping the camera.
The very first accessory I purchased for both my D700 as well as the more recent addition of a D850, all from RRS (Really Right Stuff)…
I also utilize a RRS accessory bracket on my BlackRapid camera strap which matches up with the RRS “L” bracket, eliminating those pesky neck straps. And I only need one camera strap as both camera body’s utilize the same system which had worked perfectly for many years.
Hey! I have a video idea, which interests me a lot. What are all the differences between entry level cameras and the pro ones. What kind of features have those pro cameras, what can they do better, or maybe not?
A great suggestion, I will certainly consider this.
Thanks for watching.
Hi Paul, always nice to watch your video content. What a great idea having the L Bracket, so many times i have to change to Vertical and it's time consuming. I fiddle left and right until i get my camera vertical and to make sure my camera is straight. This L Bracket will certainly save me time. Thanks for introducing us to the L Bracket, a very useful Bracket to have. 😃
Thanks for watching, definitely a worthy investment if you're using tripods a lot. Thanks for watching.
@@photogenius Your very welcome Paul 🙂
Yes this is good , but I have a peak design capture clip .on my backpack ,this would make this a bit dormant
Three Legged Thing have a range of L brackets that work with the peak design capture clip. Here's what I found : www.3leggedthing.com/row/l-brackets/universal-l-brackets.html#
Thanks for watching and supporting my channel.
@@photogenius thanks Paul will have a look at those .Cheers
Price conscious. Canon E600 user. New lens for mountain pictures ? What would be your top tip pls. Love your content. Great delivery by Paul
Hi Paul. What tripod head is it that you showcase in the video? I really like the quick release for the mount.
Hi James, the tripod head featured in the video is the Manfrotto MHXPRO-BHQ6. Whilst it is an excellent head, solid as a rock and can take up to 15Kg (approx 33 pounds), it is very expensive and would be overkill for most, however for me I needed an option that will do the job, support a range of gear and last a long time as it will be used almost daily. There are of course many other great tripod heads available which would suit most applications, the Manfrotto 496 Centre Ball head is another option and worth checking out.
I chose not to mention the particular model or price in the video because I don't want to come across as flashy or feature gear that is out of reach, any tripod head that uses the Arca Swiss system will work with suitable L brackets.
Thanks for watching.
Paul.
Whats the best tripod to buy? And where can I find it? I have one now but its a cheaper brand from Amazon.
Hello, Mr. Paul, I have a question: is the Canon 1300 ok as a camera for vacations? I also bought a 50mm (niftyfifty) for it in addition to the original kit. Thank you
Are there pros and cons when using the ball head tilted on its side as vertical to use the camera that way when you don’t have a L bracket?
The main disadvantage would be if taking panoramas, this is because the camera is not pivoting on a set point, so images may not line up so well. Other than that the main annoyance for me is having to adjust the tripod everytime so as to keep the horizon straight. It's only when you start using an L bracket that you realise how good they are.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks mate I like the way you can change the batteries without having to take the L bracket off, Keep up the good work!
Smallrig brackets are terrific. I have them on all of my cameras. I like Manfrotto heads and was able to get a kit from them to change from their QR style mount to one that is Arca-Swiss compatible so I could continue using the head I was quite fond of. Cheers!
Thanks for watching Alan. Yep agree, Smallrig make some great products and the manfrotto conversion kit is a good option too.
