If a half press of the photo does not activate Auto Focus then it sounds like you have the AF turned of. Is their a switch on the side of the lens ? If so make sure it is not set to MF (which is manual focus), once switched to AF your problem should be solved. if you have a lens that does not have the switch then you will need to check focus mode settings on the camera.
      Hope that helps.

Great subject. My mom turned 60 in november and I wanted to make some nice pictures with my D3500 and the 35mm F1.8 (bought the lens used one and a half years ago). Everything went well until I noticed that the autofocus stopped working and I had to focus manually. I can still use the lens for astro but for portraits I ordered a brand new lens 😊

@@photogenius Yes it is as solid as expected. If I can take just one lens for travel it would be the 35mm F1.8.

Focus is one of my difficulties. Most of the time I try do do it through the visor but it is not always possible. My second approach is through the display and this is where I miss a sharp focus. I learned something here by using that button.

Love your videos. I learned a couple of things yesterday by watching them and applied them to my camera. I was at a hmm moment. Thank you for doing these helpful videos.
