It is NO WONDER why you have SO MANY subscribers (now including me) - your presentations are very clear, no nonsense, no unnecessary/loud/distracting music, very well scripted, with all props readily at hand! ALL creators of tutorials should follow your lead. I just want to be able to photograph the edges of kinives as they go through the stages of gthe sharpening process, and you've presented a clear, simple, inexpensive way to do that, with my camera's cousin. THANK YOU! PS - did you know that Canon now charges for customer service assistance? BOO!!!
Hi Paul, I loved this...thank you! 🙏🏻 Also cool to see how you mounted the flower. 🙌🏻 It would be awesome if you could make a video where you take it outside. Greets from Sweden ☀️❄
Thx, Paul. I enjoy macro photography, am a beginner, and didn’t want to spend lots of $$$ straight away. Going to give extension tubes a try. Would love additional videos on this subject.
Thank you for helping this total noob amateur! Another great video and excellent tutorial! I appreciate your dedication in helping the begginer photographer. You have great teaching skills. I learn a lot and its very easy to follow along.
Another great video, Paul. Thank you for the clear explanations. You really manage to trigger people to go out and try new things. Would love to see a follow-up video on taking macro shots outdoors as I imagine wind can be a disturbing factor.
This is by far the best and most clear explanation how to use something that is available to us hobby photographers without expensive gear. Thank you so much.
I got the Canon Rebel T7 a few days ago for Christmas, and I can’t wait to start taking pictures and building up a portfolio. This is a hobby I’ve always wanted and had a camera back in 2018 for a while! Your videos are so informative and I’ve learned so much within just 3 days 😊
I bought my extension tubes this morning. i am so excited to start my food photographie with it. Thanks again Paul for this tutorial, its very helpful.🙏
Great tutorial. I really appreciate that you use entry level gear. Most other channels make me feel like I am wasting my time because I can't afford professional gear. I have ordered some extension tubes and can't wait to try them out.
started using (and with my memory problems, remembering how to use) the zoom in to focus feature on both my Panasonic FZ45 and my Canon 80D after years of owning them and what a game changer it is. I'm using that feature every time I photograph something static on the tripod now and I pretty much use manual mode all the time now. I'm so glad I've got to that stage in my photography now after 30 years of doing it. Better late then never I guess. Great video. I've had the Kenko extension tubes for a while now, but not got round to using them, but I will. From what I understand, you can also stack a combination of 2 or all 3 for even more crazy macro shots. I've also just recently
Your tutorials are excellent because you keep the information you are sharing simple and to the point. I love that you often use entry level equipment, creating sharp and dynamic photos. Every time I start to think about upgrading my camera I will come up with a crisp, sharp photo that takes me by surprise. It is then that I realize that I need to focus on how I created such a shot and understand fully the limitations and merits of the equipment I own. Looking forward to your next vlog. God bless.
I would love to see some videos on macro photography. There are others out there but you have a way of explaining your subject so it is easily understood.
After watching this video I purchased the recommended macro tubes for my canon rebel t7 and I love them and have been playing around with them and getting some good results!! I’m new to photography and find all of your videos very helpful and informative!!
Just looking back over the last 2 years, watching photo genius and how much i have learnt from a total beginner , clueless but willing to learn amature up untill now is amazing... thank you paul..
I'm just about to dip my toes in the world of Macro Photography and have watched a few videos but this is one of the best. Well presented and easy to follow along to. 👍🏻
Thoroughly enjoyed this very informative tutorial. I've had extension tubes for over a year but have struggled with focus. I have Nikon D3500 and I'm looking forward to putting your tips into practice. Thank you for continually providing us with informative and easy to understand content 👍🏻
In a photographic sense, I'm all for getting so much from spending so little. I was aware of extension tubes before but never paid much attention, thanks for this video 📷👍
Another great video from your good self. I was going to ask about using the adaptors with the nifty fifty, but that has also been answered below. Brilliant channel, thanks Paul
Thank you, Paul! This is a great tip. I have a T7 and just started getting serious about photography last year. I have learned a lot from your channel so thank you for sharing your insight.
Just a thank you for all the help you have been for me over the last two years. I have watched all you RUclips videos on Luminar, from 3 right up to Neo. I have learnt so much from you about editing photos. I had many thousands of photo taken on my many overseas trips, and hundred on our motor home trips around New Zealand, it has been great getting all these photos looking so much better. I had some underwater photos taken in the 1970's, using a Nikonos 3 camera, unbelievable, how using the skills you have taught me, how great these photos have come out. I ahave now bought a Nikon D3500 as an attenpt to take up photography as a hobby at the age of 76, pretty stupid aren't I. Once again, Thank you Martin Bond
Great video Paul. This is what I like about all your videos. Set out nice and simple and you show us step by step how to follow you in creating great shots. It's great to watch and learn from someone who likes to share his talent to both the experienced and novice (me).
Well I have only ever tried macro photography handheld outdoors with a kit lens and no extension tube, I was blown away with the results with both flowers and insects in both sharpness and colour. If I can manage that as a relative beginner I must try indoors in perfect conditions and see what results I get, thanks for the tips in this Vlog Paul 👍
Love, Love Love this. Macro is my preferred photography. I do love the digital zoom, it has improved my sharpness a great deal. Keep it coming, love watching
As always, another really informative video Paul. I saw a previous video last year about macro and bought some fairly cheap extension tubes for my Canon 1300D. As you say - even using them with an 18-55 kit lens can get some wonderful results 🙂 I find macro really fascinating
This is perfect as I use the Canon t6i, a model older than the t7. I've had a lot of fun using extension tubes this past year and these tips will make for a more enjoyable experience. I've also learned that macro is like fine art and not for everyone's taste.
This is exactly what I've been looking for, I love doing macro shots of bugs and debating on buying the 105mm macro lens. I'm gong tp get those tubes for my D3500. Thanks Paul, for saving me some cash.
this was such a useful video Paul. I'm just getting into ,aero on the Z6 with my newly arrived z MC 105mm lens. Some great tips and ideas ! Many thanks. keep them coming...
Great video! I found a strategy that works for me when taking handheld macro. I use a Canon EOS R6 with the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 and Meike extension tubes that add up to 31mm. I use a flash because it both freezes motion and allows me to use lower ISO with no negative consequences. The 50mm prime on those extension tubes gives me an adequate working distance even when I set the manual focus to the minimum distance on the lens. This allowed me to get 1:1 macro for less than $300 instead of the RF 100mm macro lens that costs $1300.
Excellent tips. Waiting for my extension tubes to arrive. I found this very helpful and will be buying the little tripod now, also the wife might be getting some nice flowers in the near future!
Hi Photo Genius, I just love macro work. I have a dedicated lens, tubes & a great new find! It's a clip on macro lens. The Raynox Super Macro Conversion Lens DCR-250. I can even get detailed snow flakes with this. It cost approx £60(UK) Bargain!
Here's a link to my Nikon playlist - heaps of tips here for beginners : ruclips.net/p/PLVepu40L2Wi_FjtrnLKNcWGFPxH80i2qB Thanks for watching and Happy New Year to you.
Another great video! After your last video reg. extension tubes I bought a set of immaculate Kenko tubes for my Canon 2000D. They are just fabulous. I would love to see another video on using them outdoors
my favourite photography youtube channel just uploaded a video on one of my favourite photography topics which i have been wanting to do forever? dreams DO come true…
I have D3200, am very early on in my journey of using a DSLR but have found all your videos helpful and informative without blowing my mind with technical jargon! really enjoyed this video and will be looking at using the techniques, may thanks and keep up the great work
Thank you for this video it showed me ways to use my extension tubes that I never gave a thought. I've tried doing hand held when I 1st tried using my tubes and was that ever a waste of time. So these tips will come in handy. Thanks again, Paul.
Great video lesson! Paul is a very easy-going guy, easy to listen to and he keeps it simple. Glad I had subscribed to this channel and got the message about this video. Now to order my extension tubes!

Thanks so much for this informative video Paul. Just bought a Canon 2000D and want to do macro. enjoy the video and thanks for watching and supporting my channel.
Paul.
SO informative Paul! Thank you!!
Great video. I've had the Kenko extension tubes for a while now, but not got round to using them, but I will. From what I understand, you can also stack a combination of 2 or all 3 for even more crazy macro shots. I've also just recently started using (and with my memory problems, remembering how to use) the zoom in to focus feature on both my Panasonic FZ45 and my Canon 80D after years of owning them and what a game changer it is. I'm using that feature every time I photograph something static on the tripod now and I pretty much use manual mode all the time now. I'm so glad I've got to that stage in my photography now after 30 years of doing it. Better late then never I guess. 😂
Great video, thank you. Would love to see more.
Thanks for your videos, it is very helpful.
Hey paul.. I loved this very much.. Please do more videos of the same in the outdoor
Thanks for this very informative video. I need to get some extension tubes so I can get better shots. I would love to see a tutorial about macro outdoors and also about using various light sources to use with macro.
Great video tutorial ! Thanks 😊
Great video, Paul! As usual!!
I've had a set of tubes for years, never really knew how to use them! So this video was super helpful.
Question: how did you hold the flowers?
Yes, I'd be interested in macro outdoors as we have a lot of lovely flowers comng up this spring and summer.
I'm also interested in your shooting videos videos.
You can also add dye to water spray & a few drops of glycerin keeps the droplets really spherical, if that's what your going for?
Good tip.
Thanks Paul, really enjoyed following your video, I have macro lenses and will try your technique, the images especially the last one and absolute corker. All the best for Christmas and New year.
