Slightly painful to watch but I thank you for putting this tutorial up for the newbies. Why take the springs and dampening rod out of the upper tube if all you need to change are the seals and oil? I’ll be changing seals and oil on my newly acquired ‘82 GL1100 in a few weeks so this tutorial will be handy reference.
If all you want to do is change the upper seal oh, I guess so. I just thought it was a good idea to check everything out. That's only the second time I've done them. But I have had success. I can't remember. I think you have to take out that damn thing rod with that Allen bolt in the bottom to pull the forks out anyway. I don't think you could get the fork to completely out unless you take the bolt off of flat dampening rod
I guess you could try to change them without pulling them apart but I think that would be very difficult. Just a good idea to take everything apart and inspect it I think. Good luck to you on your fork seal change
great video. they make a tool for the dampening plunger. it cost about $40 to $50. but your way works as well. if you want a real laugh...try changing the water pump on your GL1100. NOT A FUN DAY.
thank you for the video

I had an oil seal go out between my water pump and the motor. I just took it to the Honda dealership and have them do that crap.🤣🤣
