For everyone who is wondering why the Animation looks different ingame than in unity: VRChat tries to combine your head "tracking" or locomation with the animation. This only looks good if your head is approximately at the height the animation would set the the head to. If you want to have the exact animation without the tracking (good for desktop users) you need to add a Player Tracking Control component to the animation in the animator, and in there you need set the Head to "Animation" instead of "tracking" or "no change". Other than that, good tutorial as always!
Could you please elaborate on "you need to add a Player Tracking Control component to the animation in the animator" i have no idea what to do lol and im hopping this fix will fix my broken legs ingame
@@johnpretcher7637 Aye, so when you are in an animation controller (01:00) select the animation that you want to be exactly like the animation, i supposed you'd want "standing", so just click on standing once. Then on the right side in your Inspector (the thing where you usually see all the settings etc for whatever you have selected), click on "Add Behaviour" and select "VRC Animator Tracking Control". There you can check the checkbox under Animation for Head, Hip etc. Try around what works best, maybe doing it for the head is enough, maybe you need to add hips, arms and legs
@@Airbee hey, idk if youll respond, but your advise worked great, the only issue im having now is the camera placement for the animation is off. i like where the animations are placed, but i cant figure out how to get the camera where the head of the animation is
Honestly I really wonder why aren't you more popular, your videos are short and efficient at what they need to show. A month ago I came back into VRChat from a near 1.5 year break knowing barely anything about avatars and obviously only having experience on 2.0. I looked up tutorials and found your 3.0 Tutorials which were so short that it made me happy I don't have to sit through 30 mins of someone going "uuuuuh" and now I've created tons of 3.0 avatars now thanks to you!
Thank you soo much, you allowed me to make so many people happy with my avatars all because I watched your videos, you videos are just like me. straight to the point! Good work
Thank you so much for making these. Even at a small video duration, that really helps out. I was able to watch the ones I wanted to watch before heading off to work.
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH I RECENTLY WAS WATCHING ANOTHER TUTORIAL BUT IT WAS SO CONFUSING AND IT HAD SO MANY STEPS BUT NOW I CAN SIT DOWN THANKS TO YOUR SUPER EASY AWESOME TUTORIAL I'M 100% SUBBING
hiya, im trying to track down a good tutorial on how to make the actual idel/ animations used to pose the avatar, i just cant seem to find any viable examples or info that work currently. seems even a few pro`s i know dont even know how these days, almost forgotton knowlage. this also inclused setting the poses to follow and not tracking ect. any advice or terms i should search for?
how do you get custom run animations to work? I made a custom skate run animation for an avatar, but when I apply it to the spots the avatar just blends into the first frame of that skate animation and freezes there til I stop moving...
Hey, I followed these steps and made my own tail wag animation for an avatar but in game the legs don't seem to move between standing, crouching & idle and seem to only stay straight
Whenever I replace the base layer, even with just the example controller, it stops my lip sync from working and I just can't figure out why. Edit: I got it fixed, though I don't fully know how. Changing the name of the body from 'Body.001' to just 'Body' seemed to have fixed it. Although renaming it to something else again afterwards didn't break it again, so who knows. If anyone has the same issue, try that.
the problem im having is that when i do a offline build the custom crouch animation works. but when i fully upload my avatar, it does the default crouch again.
Every time I try tutorials like this, my issue is that I DON'T have an examples3 folder. It's only VRCSDK with these folders: "Depencencies, Plugins, Sample Assets, SDK2, license, version" I DO have a examples2 folder in Assets>VRChat Examples but I also don't have the "vrc_avatarv3locomotionlayer" anywhere. Is it because I'm using SDK2?
My torso and arms got stuck while trying to replace the running animation. Like, they're stuck in the position I set for running and I did exactly this. Putting the run animation back into the blendtree make it stand normally again, but then why does my avatar get halfway stuck in the running pose?
Hey, so I'm trying to put in the prone animations and such, but when I go to replace the crouching branch tree, the inspector is blank. Is there anyway to fix that?
This almost worked for me but for some reason my arms keep wiggling around in an odd way and also the hand gestures pose overwrites my finger animation which is obviously working as intended but I wish I could change that.
For that you'd probably do something like make a new int parameter and name it something like "CrouchChange" if you were doing it for crouch animations then in your locomotion controller duplicate the crouch state and create a transition to it with your CrouchChange parameter, and in your expression menu have a control that sets CrouchChange to the value you specified for it
So i have this avi i made him humanoid but the phys bones don't work with him ( idk how to set them up and all ) so I switched to generic and it worked . Animations are smooth and all that but then I added walking animation and idle animation (custom) , the idle worked but when I move the character doesn't perform the walking animation
okay i checked your channel and, i couldn't find any tutorials on how to create the animations uwu could you maybe make an up to date video on that for potatoes new to unity? :3
Straight to the point, just as it should be! i managed to get it to work but i have one thing, if i go into social menu the animation goes broken, any way to fix this? thanks for the help!

This is honestly better than 99% of the other people making rambling tutorial videos 7 to 15 minutes long.
Very convenient and straightforward. Your videos are truly a great help!

is there any chance you could explain how to change the runing animation for any of the blend trees.

in order to make a new walking animation, Is it possible to replace all those proxy_run_forward and all those in blendtree too?

is there an updated version of this with the updated unity?

it's probably beacaus you use sdk2 yes i have the sdk3 and then i have the vrc_avatarv3locomotionlayer you should change.
I just want to learn how to disable the falling animation when i'm in full body

I followed the tutorial step by step and the idle works but my mouth visemes doesn't work anymore. Why can be that?
can animation tail ?
Yeah I followed this guide and now my expressions menu in vr chat is greyed out and I don't know how to fix it. 😐
This just results in the animation breaking and just clipping into the ground still
whiich is thee sitting down cross legged animation and how do I use that as the default sit animation on a VRC station object?
This almost worked for me but for some reason my arms keep wiggling around in an odd way and also the hand gestures pose overwrites my finger animation which is obviously working as intended but I wish I could change that.
Is it possible to put different idle/crouch animations based on a parameter that you can change through the menu?
For that you'd probably do something like make a new int parameter and name it something like "CrouchChange" if you were doing it for crouch animations

my avatar for some reason dont have a locomotion
I have a question 🙋♂️
How do I fix the issue with my avatar ps legs breaking all over the place when I crouch or go prone?
we have the same problem. sometimes it goes back to normal then suddenly legs breaking again loll
I don’t know where to put locomotion i can’t find the base layer
Is there going to be an update video for this 😅everything looks so different

You did the prone animation, but your avatar’s hips are in the ground
Yes I get this but how do I make my own animations??
Either Im stupid or you need to do a new update on the new stuff
can someone tell me where to find the fx i can’t find it for my avatar
real quick how do i fix the animation putting me in the ground
okay i checked your channel and, i couldn't find any tutorials on how to create the animations uwu could you maybe make an up to date video on that for potatoes new to unity? :3
Thank you
finally thanks
where do i find locomotion?
Straight to the point, just as it should be! i managed to get it to work but i have one thing, if i go into social menu the animation goes broken, any way to fix this? thanks for the help!
thats a normal main menu quirk, it seems to change something with the locomotion layer once youre in the main menu
@@SippsAvatarBox okay i see. thanks for the reply :D
