    I like the shark tooth design - that all by itself can reduce spark scatter some by reducing pressure pulsation.

      So can the grooving the dist to oil/cushion the gear I'm told.

    Hey, that's right out of How to Hotrod Your SBC. Well it's in my old bock. I picked it up when I was starting out. There's not even a thought of using a 400 for performance and before even dart and the BT Chevy Line. Anyway, they are the mods that they used. I've learned to also drill a few strategic holes in the cogs. Same reason as you are using. That melling m55hv is actually an excellent pump. Great volume, but the pressure is to high for street, flow/volume. Spring change from their 70psi to a modified 55/60. The ST version is too good for the street in general in my opinion. Once again, great informative video! You keep it laid back, so people can relate. Be good. ✌

    After it must be clean!
    Oil sand casting with 320 or finer paper to remove burrs and have a perfect seal.
    I also hand polish the gears with 320 paper.
    Port the rear main as well.
    Hv pump is overkill on many builds.
    Be sure to run a hv pump with extra oil capacity if you are turning high rpm, chevys are more forgiving this way than sbf, ask me how I know.

      I plan to do the rear caps for the donor and crate vortec in a future episode. Waiting on a new mic to get here before I tear down the crate. The machined surfaces weren't that great on this pump, I still gotta edit but filmed it right after, just finished with what I had 220 then 600 grit. Never polished the gears I've read bout it and/or deburr the gear edges.

      @@freemanfornow264 7000 rpm small block ford with hv pump and stock pan. Pumps the sump dry and locks up the pump, drill bits the shaft. It was a heavy duty aftermarket shaft.
