I got into a really bad accident in 2009 while "Watch Me Die" was playing and I was thinking "Watch me die while Watch Me Die is playing" while I was trying to regain control of the car and smash into the least destructive object. Not gonna lie it was pretty wild coming across your comment randomly to know that someone else went through something similar with Underoath lol
I t boned by a drunk driver while this awful song was on the radio....so it could be worse. it was for a sure a special delivery. I would rather been listening to this song. ruclips.net/video/GVusF9YT5Pw/видео.html
You know what Bilbo used to say "It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
It’s incredible how much emotion Spencer puts into his screams, you can really feel it. They’re awesome live, if anyone gets the opportunity you should definitely go see them!
My all time FAVORITE part/breakdown-- 2:27. It's so cool that something you haven't heard for over 15 years, you still have the lyrics memorized as if no time has passed.
Imagine hearing this song live as the sky darkens and the rain falls lightly and the lights from the stage flash red/white and when he sings "Drowning in my sleep, I'm drowning in my sleep" the whole crowd chants with him. This is exactly how I first saw them live. It was fucking magical and 100x better than what your hearing now.
i was 10, in joplin, Mo. and my brother said he had a few friends who were doing a concert. his friends were Underoath themselves. if i knew at that age how big they were at that time , i would have shat myself but i’m glad i was vip and got to witness that small venue at such a young age. we lived 2 hours away from them and my oldest brother knew a few of them. such an upbringing of my childhood. chills with every song they made. thanks Underoath
I am going to be 30 this year, and whenever I listen to Underoath, I am taken back to being a teenager. One memory I will never forget, is when they came to my city, and performed all of the songs I loved!!!! The best memories...going hard in the mosh pit to this song.
such a good time -- for me i had just turned 14 and it was to see em on the very first rockstar energy mayhem fest w/ like walls of jericho and slipknot, etc. i hadn't been the same since
Half blind and half colorblind ginger that started outclassing the best drummers at age 14 with the voice of an angel. My hero in music. That man in talent incarnate
This is still one of my favorite songs by them after being a fan of their for so long. I love the drum solo at 2:35. They played this when I saw them and every one was singing "Drowning in my sleep I am drowning in my sleep." It was so surreal.
I discovered Underoath in my freshman year of high school, 2009, and quickly fell in love with this song bc I thought it was edgy as all shit and just loved the general sound of it. I had a friend who brought me onto the high school tennis team and bonded over this band and this song with me. She was a senior and an absolute sweetheart. March 15th, 2010, she died in a car accident. Around this time of year, I generally look up stuff that we bonded over (movies, video games, songs, etc) and only now, while drunk, did I actually realise this song was about a car accident. Fuck quarantine and fucking being drunk and sad.
Has it really been 17 years..I remember hanging out with them at the new daisy in Memphis when they would come through. That music got me through some rough times
Underoath is one of the best bands ever! Saw them a few weeks ago--I am a mom and have been a musicain all my life. My daughter told me about them--they are awesome and they rock! We met them too and they are alos great guys!
so i wonder how many people know what this song is about. lots of people probably already know but for those who don't it's obviously Jesus in Gethsemane and his thoughts before going to die on the cross. It so shows the passion that was in His heart towards all of us!
“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
I remember losing my mind when I found out the chorus was The Calvary Church in Mountlake Terrace Washington. We were just this small neighborhood and we held on to this feat tooth and nail
ive seriously just listened to this song over and over agin for the past 3 hours. cant get enough!!!! kinda makes me want to go into the middle of an empty field miles away from anyone and just scream at the top of my lungs. :)
As a casual fan i came to see Underoath show this year, i try n pay respect to bands i see make their fans happy..n partially am interested in the hype. Excellent show..nyc, we all were sandwiched in waves of fans lettin loose..the band posted a video of the show & the second the beat drops during "drowing, in my sleep" they have me throwin the highest kick in the pit😂. Excited ima see them again opening for Papa Roach & im in the pit for that too...jus keep in mind, their shows can be a lil rough!!! After seein fob & sdre, u may cry!!😂😂
I totally agree with that... They're a strong and meaningful band. I can't describe in words how good they are (to me), but I'll say they're very skillful. Once you get the impression of it, you'll never change that :) I truly love UnderØATH.
According to drummer Aaron Gillespie: "I was 20 years old when Spencer (Chamberlain) and I [wrote] that song. We had this idea about what happens when you love someone, really love them, truly love them. In the Bible it says that we’re to love our wives as Christ loved the church, which is an impossibility, because we don’t have the capacity to love like Christ does, and it’s impossible…So we had this morbid idea that there would be this guy, he would be driving a car. And if you read the lyrics, the verse involves a car accident. There’s this guy and he’s driving this car, and he’s so in love with this girl that he decides to kill them both. He’s so in love with her that he realizes it is impossible to love her the way he’s supposed to, so he decides to just drive off the road. That’s the narrative line of the story in the song. But it’s really about loving someone and knowing that you’ll never be able, in your capacity, to love them the proper way."
Gotta love the hypocrisies in religious texts. You can’t love anything the way your supposed to. But all things are possible with God. But to reach the love he’s supposed to he has to break a commandment of God.
Paul but if you don’t sin then doesn’t that make you a perfect being just like God? And that is apparently not okay. Cause no one should be able to achieve that height right? You see why religion isn’t quite as concrete as people think it is?

Bruh moment
Eerie song to play for a moment like that
lol better than me. Madonna - Ray of Light was playing when my car spun off an icy road down a steep forested road😆
