This video shows you how to install a starter on your 2011-2016 Hyundai Elantra. The starter is a powerful electric motor that gets your engine to turn over when you turn the key in the ignition switch. If a motor has worn out or become damaged, your vehicle won’t start.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
    2011 Hyundai Elantra
    2012 Hyundai Elantra
    2013 Hyundai Elantra
    2014 Hyundai Elantra
    2015 Hyundai Elantra
    2016 Hyundai Elantra

This video is fantastic. This guy demonstrates how to remove all front end components in order to give you better view of the starter, hoses, and bolts. He stated unequivocally, "You don't have to remove all of these." Saved this video for radiator replacement.
Replacing the starter simply requires 20 minutes. To disassemble the starter, remove the wiring bracket from the engine's bottom, unscrew two bolts from the rear, lower the starter, and take out the electrical connector and positive wire.
    Thank you!

Yesterday I replaced a starter on 2015 Elantra 1.8 L that has the same build and engine. All I did from the top was to disconnect the battery terminal nothing else. Every thing was done under the car. You need to jack up the car and remove the bottom splash shield that has four 10 mm bolts and few plastic clips that takes 10 minutes to remove and then you see the starter above the oil filter with much easier access to remove the main 12v cable and signal connector to the starter. Two 14 mm bolts are also easy to access, remove them and then there is one 10mm bolt to detach the wiring harness bracket to make some room and starter comes out from the bottom without much effort. For me it was much easier to do it from the bottom and saved me time and effort.

This is why people hate taking their vehicles to dealerships. So much extra cost to change a simple part.

Good video on showing removal of the bumper and radiator. A much quicker and easier approach would be (1) disconnect battery cables (2) remove the air cleaner (2) remove the air cleaner box in front of the battery to expose the top of the transaxle, so that the starter mounting bolts are easy to see and remove from above (3) remove the starter from below, and in that process remove the lower end of the + cable and the wire to the starter solenoid. This RUclips video shows removal of the air cleaner box: ruclips.net/video/XkrJOw8oeLw/видео.html However the bolts holding the starter are not clearly shown - but after the air cleaner box is out, the bolt heads are very easy to see and to wrench on.

So is the solenoid and starter motor one single assembly? Mine on occasion clicks and after 2-3 attempts it starts up, battery terminals are snug. If its the solenoid does the entire thing need to be replaced?

U don't have to take all of that off to do a starter, just the intake

People have mentionned it already, but the only thing you need to do is to remove the air filter box. This will open up a large volume of space through which the bolts are easily accessible with an extension.
The biggest problem is inserting the new starter as there is a wiring bracket in the way. Slipping the starter out and through is fine but when time comes to put the new one in, it' almost impossible. To be honest, I did not even touch the bracket nut. I simply bent the bracket slightly, slipped the new starter in and bent the bracket back to its original position.
PROTECTIVE GOGGLES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. SO MUCH DUST AND RUST. PROTECTIVE GLASSES FAILED TO PREVENT CONTACT

Is there anything attached to the starter that could effect fuel efficiency? I just changed mine a few days ago and it seems like I'm burning through gas quicker than it should
