Great Vid. It would be great to see you do a video on how your studio/desk is routed. I'm sure many people would be interested in how the desk can communicate with pro tools and the outboard gear. Thanks!
YES!
When you added that gated reverb, and the lexicon at the same time. and the chorus on the vocals! so satisfying
yahh.... :)
Love the style of your videos. Let the hand and hardware talk. Great job
Fabulous vids !!
I love mixing, even on my old Tascam.
Thanks for the opportunity to see a master at work/fun.
Cool vibes to you.
Absolutely love these man.
I recently did a fully out the box mix as a college assessment a few weeks back on an SSL AWS 924 and loved it.
Dream setup. You must have so much fun in there. 😎👍
I do!
True
It's one thing to just have incredible equipment, but you have the skills to use it like a virtuoso. You have the know how to bring out the magic of that beautiful gear to make every single track shine. Simply incredible.
Couldn't agree more!
@@DanDuskin I would love to know your bus assignments from the daw to your mixer and what gear is permanently connected to what inserts.
Awesome! Glad to see another.
Wow, loved this video!
drums are clean as fuck, toms are really good, love them
You just got a new Subscriber! that mix sounds Phenomenal! You work very efficiently and you know your tools very well. Everything you need is easily accessible and that is half of the battle. Your room sounds excellent also.
You have every piece of gear on my wish list. Thanks for making my shopping list even easier to populate ! Lol
I absolutely love your setup dude! Very Slick!!! Keep it up!
How did I miss this?? I have to ring that bell right now!!!
Love every video, please keep it up!
It´s a real pleasure to hear and watch your mix! I would still love to learn from you and spend my life mixing.
The Solo in this at the end sounds soo good, makes me want to grab my guitar.
Yes!!! New video!!! i Love you man!!!!
Loved the slow pace of this one. Please continue making them like this one. Absolutely awesome. Thanks!
Nikolaj Christensen : I know it’s been long time since you posted this, but thanks, I completely agree... I’m working on doing more long-format videos like this but better. Thanks again!
@@DanDuskin Well I'm the late one now :). Also the annotated versions you have done recently!
Beautiful sounds, really great job! I know you will never see this comment but if... --- It's a great day for me - I just discovered your channel today. I'm total beginner in this subject, but it makes a big pleasure to see and hear your job. Holy . . . . it's amazing :)

Wow, great idea for a video! Love that console. The knobs look SSL-y?
Yes it's an SSL!
I was wondering if that Delay on the Vox is pre Delay on the 480 Long Hall or If its a seperate Delay being send to the Verb?
Hi James. I'm pretty sure the delay you are hearing is the pre-delay on the 480L... I think it's set pretty high, maybe even 130ms. I also have a slapback delay on the vocal sending to a Line 6 Echo Pro, but it's so low in volume that it might as well be off. Thanks for the question!
@@DanDuskin Thanks for taking the time out to answer my question, I greatly appreciate it.
Memorized watching all of that amazing gear doing it's thing while you work your magic mixing this ethereal track... my GF thought I was watching porn. Great job, Daniel!
My ears: 😌😍
LARGE HALL FANATIC!
Is that a 480 or a 224? We have both here....
480L, but I have both now as well which you can hear and see in my newer videos. Thanks Tyler!
@@DanDuskin Which do you like better? I think almost all the lead vocals from my last album were the "Dark Plate" setting on the 224. We didn't have the 480 at the time, though.
Our hardware reverbs:
Lexicon 224XL
Lexicon 480L
Lexicon PCM 70
EMT 140S
EMT 250
EchoPlate I
Sony DRE-2000A
AMS RMX-16
Quantec QRS
Don't know if anyone in the world has a better collection than that!
My dream is becoming this one day...
What did you do between the live mixing and the playback at the very end to get to that final point?
Great stuff man!! But a question for you: Do you use first the SSL comp on the stereo bus, After that your Neve Comp and then the pultec eq's?
I think he once mentioned the neve comp is on his drum bus.
What are the primary speakers you mix on? How much time do you spend on them?
I try to mix 50/50 between my Barefoot Micromain 27’s which are placed in the optimal listening position behind my console, and a small pair of speakers that are far behind me so close together the audio is almost mono. If I can get the mix good on both of those it translates almost everywhere 95% of the time.
Cheers, Daniel!
how mutch DB do you have at the main out at the end ??
What is at the top of the rack with the black tubes you pull/push?
That's a power supply. It has power outlets in the back. The black tubes on the front are lights that point down at the equipment below.
Excuse me, have all instruments recorded two tracks? Lead vocal too?
Vooooov
What sound mixer is that?
Hi, a question, why your lavry AD 122-96 is in the red, you do overload you're DAC ?
Hi sound 83220. The Lavry has an additional 6dB of headroom in the red when you engage the Soft Saturation feature. This feature lowers the input -6dB and applies +6dB of internal soft harmonic distortion to give +6dB of increased perceived level without clipping the DAC itself. There is a Max LED that will light up to let you know if you are clipping the DAC, which would be the bottom LED in the vertical LED's to the right of the meters. I hope that helps.
@@DanDuskin , thank you. I didn't know that functionnality, so yes you're using that soft limiting as a tape like compression before getting back in digital from your mix bus, if i'm not mistaken.
Essentially, yes. If you're interested in more details you can Google "Lavry Soft Saturation" and the first link should be a Wiki from Lavry Engineering that is quite interesting if you're into that kind of thing.
@@DanDuskin thanks
why this console has separate left/right sliders, not level/balance?
ah, sorry, you are using only left of each channel.
Some instruments are using left/right sliders, but others are layers... for example, the first fader is the real kick while the 2nd fader is a triggered sample, same with the snare (real then sample).
Lexicon..holy grail
,😍🤩😘😙
hi hat and crashes are very low to my taste, the rest seems to be fine....
