    Thank you Doctor. I’m a cancer patient Myeloma. I also have degenerative disc disease. I was recently told that I had TMJ but didn’t believe it. My mouth does not click I just have extreme pain in front of my jaw under my jaw and behind my neck where you showed with your hand in your video. I want to ask if it causes swelling inside the mouth? I thought I had lesions in my mouth but biopsy says no. I had severe salava stones very painful by the way. When that past the pain in my right jaw, there is also a very swollen muscle tissue remaining in the corner. Where the two joints meet. It’s painful into my temples and jaw. Exactly as u have describe. Everything you mentioned, even the neck is me. But I also have this swelling in my mouth on the floor of my mouth. What doctor should I see to help me treat this?

    If i chew a hard thing or some hard gummy candy to be precise, it does click. And also i do get frequent headaches especially on my left side and i can't really figure out where that pain is from (mostly it originates from my head and spreads all over i assume). Even sleeping in certain positions gives a kick to the pain.

It happens two years ago, and I went to the doctor but wasn't able to have follow up check up bc it get back to normal (there's no clicking anymore). But unfortunately last year, I just observed, clicking came back again and sometimes painful, i cant open my mouth that wide compared before. Do braces will lessen the clicking bc it will correct the bites then may jaw (bc i read some studies it might help also) or I need to undergo series of muscle therapy for the jaw? Thank you so much. Anyways, I'm trying the part one exercise for 5 days already.

      Braces - the regular dental braces and consult a dentist now

    • @BuffaloTMJ
      @BuffaloTMJ  4 года назад +2

      Braces can help to improve the relationship of the bite to the joint mechanics, but only if the orthodontist pays close attention to both. Usually it's best to us a removable appliance to help stabilize the joint structures FIRST, and then proceed with orthodontics to bring the bite into harmony with the joint mechanics.

    Can 'TMJ' cause tinnitus or inner ear, Eustachian tube dysfunction? I sing frequently and over time I've noticed that one ear feels mildly full like being on an airplane but will never feel like it has any release of the imbalanced pressure. I notice my jaw clicks as it pivots, and is a bit asymmetrical in discreet ways like when I shift an open mouth side to side. I can freely move my lower jaw side to side too just with my muscles. I'm guessing all this is from over exertion and poor technique for a portion of it.

      @@Chris-cf2kp A study found that as much as 43-96 percent of TMD patients experience ear fullness, and ear fullness is also the most common ear symptom, followed by ear pain (otalgia). Here is a great article on the subject of ear symptoms from TMD (the two theories I mentioned for ear fullness is explained in the Introduction): www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8638311/
      I also recommend - if you haven't already - to check out this youtube channel: ruclips.net/user/PriyaMistryDDStheTMJdocvideos She has many videos with great advice both for diagnostics and treatments. This video might be especially helpful: ruclips.net/video/Vng3tmFJPDY/видео.html

      @@magnuskarlsson8655 Very insightful thank you.
      I'll add that also I experience one side of my jaw moving more than the other, like some mentioned previously, where my chin will shift to one side as I open my mouth.
      Some of the exercises I see in her videos are some that I've also started in physical therapy, working muscles all around my head and the nerves on the back of my neck, which can relate to tinnitus. I noticed that as I've worked out my muscles, on some occasions during a stretch my tinnitus will stop for a moment or my ears will open more. So my symptoms are most certainly related to muscle or nerve strain or spasm. But I'm starting to see a slight improvement as I keep working these muscles out and undergo dry needling in specific points.
      Hopefully that can give some hope to others. The channel you linked seems promising. I'd say to others to look into physical therapy with dry needling for TMJ also. I had to see a TMJ spec first. Some of them can hurt a bit at first, but afterwards they actually do result in gradual improvement from releasing residual muscle and jaw tension.

      update: after 2 to 3 weeks, my jaw doesn't drop any more. It's back to normal. I think I was chewing too much gum at one point and over did it. Now max only 30 minutes a day
