Sure, Midwich is an in-door map so it's harder to get clean shots, but the corridors and rooms are quite long and there are times where the survivors can't help but keep running forward as you turn them to swiss cheese. Also, it has lots of lockers, meaning ability to reload pretty much whenever you need to. As much as I love Otz's work in this tier list, I think I disagree with a lot of the ratings... In my opinion, I think the killer side more means balanced, but I still disagree with a lot, to be honest. Lery's and either side of the RPD are no way killer-sided, even after watching those parts.... As someone has said before, I think Otz has a different viewpoint on a lot of these as he is a top-tier killer, and so he is better than a lot of survivors (I saw his statements about what he used, but still). I'm intermediate with roughly 2,600 hours. I by no means want to fight Otz, though. We all have our thoughts and I do support Otzdarva on a lot of his content, often watching his videos.
@@braytonewell I agree with you to a certain degree, because I do think that saying something is overall "killer sided" is a very broad statement, when killers have varying playstyles. For example, a map like Lery's will certainly favor a stealth killer like Wraith, Myers, or Ghost Face significantly more than it will favor a killer like Oni or Hillbilly, in a lot of games when I am playing Oni it puts me on Lery's and it really upsets me, because the great strength of Oni is high mobility instadowns, but in a map with so many walls, windows, and obstacles I find it better to simply not use the power, at least to secure downs, because it's very easy for a survivor to abuse the survivor sided strengths of the map. All in all I feel the tierlist is somewhat "incomplete" for lack of a better word, as for the broad description in the video title it doesn't state what side the tierlist is for (the way the video plays out leads me to believe it's killer POV for most if not every rating), and what *type* of killer it is designed for. I feel it is overall a great video and list but missing some core aspects that would help fill the holes that are up for debate, or leaving some confusion.
@Vhillain I do agree with you there. Maps are different difficulties for different killers, so it isn't really proper to rate them in balance. That is, other than the worst of maps, which are crappy for nearly every killer.

Other than some very minor errors on some RNG explanations that don't influence the point being made in the respective moment, the exposition of the tier list was splendidly made! I want to make a few remarks to emphasize some details that weren't mentioned or focused enough in the video but that were taken into account: -Not only the filler loops in Asylum and Eyrie are specially above average in safety, Badham and Coldwind Farm also stand out in that regard and in the case of Coldwind, it is the reason why the farm maps despite having not so many pallets (other than Cowshed) they still are very fearsome in chase, plus the potential for set ups is enhanced due to the reduced space where loops spawn since the permanent corn pushes them together (and they are already strong enough on their own so when chained they are even more dangerous). -Shelter Woods does not spawn 8 pallets most of the time (let alone less than that bc if a map spawns less than 8 it is a bug), it goes from 8 to 16 (at least) and the average I estimated was around 12, so it is far from what the average player would say. I do dislike this map the most, yet that does not justify downplaying it & not being objective with it. -Family Residence's safety revolves around pre running across the map and using the enlongated shape against the killer, so eventhough the middle is not always the best place to loop, that the main building is not very strong, that the landmarks are inconsistent in safety and that the pallet count is not very high; the map doesn't need strong safety for the chases to take long, since the pre run strat is so effective against most killers and the genlock strat is partially countered by not allowing the killer to get downs near their perimeter of defended gens (which distinguishes the map from more reknown 2 side-maps like Suffo Pit, Azarov's and Sanctum of Wrath). -The Shattered Square was mentioned to have inferior maze-tiles when compared to their counterparts in other realms, a big reason for this is the fact that a few of them are seemingly bugged missing their windows, that map has the most bugged maze-tiles right now. -Garden of Joy's maze-tiles are hard to run due to their peculiarities, but they are extremely dangerous when mastered, so watch out for the very skilled survivors. The types the map spawns are above average, the rules favor stronger tiles and the styles of the maze-tiles (aka the themes) are also superior, so their potential is equally outstanding to how hard they are to get used to.
@Twoshu I will add, at least in my experience so this is subjective and not objective, that the pallet placements in shelter woods are almost always in dogshit locations (they're unsafe). They're always by random tree-and-rock placements. Super easy for the killer to play around.
In the Saloon there’s that dead end room with a window and 2 breakable walls, the Dredge downed me in there and bamboozled the window nonstop so nobody could save me 😂
I started watching your videos about a month or two ago and I cannot give you enough credit for the help you provide. It’s hard enough to understand this game, but to be able to disseminate the information about it in a way that people can understand is an entirely different skill and you’re exceptional at it. It’s the difference between understanding a skill and using it versus being able to not only use that skill but also teach it to others. This is one of the most complex multiplayer games I’ve ever played and it constantly evolves. Your ability to not only stay on top of all of it but constantly assist others is just mind blowing. The amount of time you put into just helping others get better is phenomenal. I seriously cannot give you enough credit. I not only thank you for myself but for the community of players trying to get better. I truly appreciate the time and effort you put into all of your videos and cannot thank you enough.
I started switching from IDV to DBD a few months ago and i’ve gotta say. So far? DBD has been much less toxic which is really saying something. I love knowing that creators such as Otz will take so much time to make knowledge accessible to everyone, and try their best to make the game not only more understandable, but more enjoyable. Love this channel and I love the sense of community it’s brought for me
I appreciate that despite all the time nad effort that goes in to making a four hour tier list, you have all the results at the very beginning for people who just want to see them.
Honestly wish this video could last forever. This was such a pleasure to listen to and learn all about the different variants of each map/spawn logic. Thank you and everyone who helped making this ❤.
I’m really happy that he goes into pretty much everything in this video. I’ve always been one to try and learn everything about dbd, and understanding exactly what can and can’t spawn allows me to really push the game to its limits. It’s very nice to understand why my tiles generate the way they do as survivor.
I started playing DbD after watching your videos. Your passion and love for the game is insane, i never seen someone with so much dedication for the community and game. Much love from Brazil!
Aww, I love this sweet green-dressed Mikaela peacefully running around and pointing finger at things like a little museum guide :> That's some cute stuff~

Thanks, Otz. I doubt you'll see this, but I really appreciate your time and effort. I remember pestering you about if you were making this on stream and I'm really glad to see you listening to the community. Perfect for getting me back into DBD after finishing the second semester of Uni, so I really appreciate it.
It must be motivating for the developers to see someone pour so much hard work and dedication into the content based off this game. Working for the developers and the people. Good work!
This video just kinda made me appreciate the attention to detail it takes to make a map in a game like this. Even though it’s clear not all maps and their engine rng perfect, but I’m amazed at the designs and layouts of these maps. Great work otz my goodness
There are millions of reasons why Otz is my favorite streamer to watch. Easily understandable guides like this and everything explained in detail is one of them.
it helps that he has a lax, playful voice and demeanor about him. he's also consistently able to learn from mistakes and keep a friendly aura about him even when he's temporarily frustrated. the community that supports Otz also tends to be on the wholesome side of DBD, which is another large factor imho.
Otz just wanna say, this video has been amazing. I can just put in some earbuds as i work (clean). Makes work a lot more bearable and i always look forward to playing dbd when i get home.
@@portalsevil yeah, it cuts off several killers from early game. Every movement killer, INCLUDING NURSE is shiet on memorial institute, unless survivors are predictable, BUT when we look at the game of balanced skill machtmaking, good nurse won't win against good survivors. It's just like if chess had 10 additional layers of skill ceilling, because directions survivors can take to lose chase from nurse is ridiculous. You can hide midchase everywhere, you can bait killer with windows, you can go around the maze in any direction. I have 2k hours, easily 1/3 of it on nurse, No way im guessing where tf can survivors go, ESPECIALLY on swf, when someone can lose a chase and their teammate can bait chase, so I can infinitely switch between targes, when in a meantime they heal, endlessly. Absolutely ridiculous map rating on this one from otzdarva. I mean this map has little to no deadzones and great amount of looping value in areas where there's NO generators. You can bait and force the chase outside of generators with no disadvantages as a survivor.
@@portalsevil Also stealth survivors are ridiculous here, you can safely repair the generator and unless killer has aura perks, he won't have time to check every single corner on this cornyass map
Have you ever considered gameplay reviews where people submit their games and you help them understand the right or wrong ways to play it etc? You have such a calming and thorough way of explaining things I feel I would enjoy it. Either way thank you for what you do for this community. I love/hate this game but you're one of the reasons I enjoy it.
@@Kirblazethefirst Yeah, I love Otz's content as much as the next guy, but he is literally the biggest DBD content creator in the world (and rightfully so, I might add)
IMO: Gald you mentioned RPD east as I've also been finding it pretty nice the more I play it as killer. Lerys being there is very interesting and I dont think I entirely disagree but id love to see you talk about it more. The Game being that high still seems like hyper copium. Overall, amazing content as always ❤️
Lery's has always been my favourite killer map because of how small it is and the lack of really safe loops it has. I'm not surprised it's third best for killer.
I love watching and mostly listening to these linger videos, I find that so amazing. I do want to add that I don’t fully agree with Lery’s cause I feel like the windows are always in the same spot, but sometimes they can lead to insane set ups and sometimes there’s nothing behind them. I think the RNG on that part can make the map really hard or easy for killer, especially if the survivors are kind of good. My results on this map are also very mixed, either the survivors are pretty decent and they destroy me on the windows and I get 0-1K, or they’re not as good and it’s a cake walk since they don’t use the windows to their full potential😂. So yeah that’s just my opinion but still thank you for the amazing video!❤
Still playing DbD for not too long i slowly get used to the maps (a fact that i did completely deny in the beginning) - this video could have shorten the process of learning it the hard way by far. Its good to have such a well done guide, easily understandable and well explained - even if its theory, it gives knowledge and in the end confidence, for you will find yourself acknowledging things so much easier. Thank you for doing such an incredible work, making it even entertaining - please keep going!!!
One of the things I've always found helps with the Indoor Map Syndrome is running Visionary? Seeing gens within 32 metres is really, really huge for avoiding 3 gens, and for finding gens on indoor maps! Paired with Windows, it can make the Game very, very nice to play, since you can find gens relatively easily! Pallets getting broken and deadzones being created is still absolutely an issue, and honestly I sometimes find it's worth taking a hit just to avoid having to drop too many pallets in one area, but Visionary can help a lot with avoiding getting 3 genned or not finding gens quickly! Surprisingly useful perk, very useful if you struggle with finding gens!
2:04:19 Hello Otz (this is friends) Thanks for the immense effort in such projects and the daily excellent content and streams! I would actually argue that Shattered Square is clearly one of the most survivor sided maps in the entire game. (More down on the list like Cowshed.) The main building truely has a medium palette, but the extension (made of brushwood) makes the loop twice as long as the long side of shack. So the main building has extreme delay potential against M1 and FOV reliant killers like Slinger, Plague or Huntress. Also, even in its dead zones, the map has a lot of piles and fences, which can counter many killer powers. For example Oni, Bubba and Slinger (survivors can go behind piles to force the breaking of the chain or prevent an insta down with the Iri addon). This means even in the dead zones survivors can stop the killer more than on other maps, to then get back to a loop.... In addition, the map has very strange hitboxes. In the most matches I played with Oni (my main) on the map I got stuck on nothing in most of the loops. I think it was the hay leftovers on the ground outside the killer FOV that is in some loops or the fences that still hunt me in my worst DBD nightmares. In my opinion this map needs an urgent overhaul, as it combines the above mentioned problems with its immense size and its very killer unfriendly color choice. But that is just my opinion. And I think people look on maps differently. (For example: My favourit map to play on is Léry‘s… surprising cause you might expect different from an Oni main) So I think that our feeling on a map and our experience have a huge impact on how we see it in a „Killer/Survivor-sided“ pattern. Wish you all the best and stay safe! And get some rest after such a huge project…
Hey, Shattered Square's is indeed the most arguable place in the tierlist since it is the most recent map and we dont have as much exp on it. In the stats from Otz's games, it is actually the map where he has performed by far the worst as killer, but that is also influenced by his lack of experience on it as well as the reduced amount of samples, along with the funny little bug it had since release where it spawned a few more pallets than intended (and they also nerfed the pallet density on itself so it is much better now). I've had an input on the making of the tierlist (as suggested at the start of the video) and I've seen previous versions of it and I pushed Otz several times to put Shattered Square further and further into the survivor sided spectrum, because it was significantly higher, around Suffo Pit and Family Residence more or less. The map is hard to judge none the less, there are a few maze-tiles that are bugged missing windows and affect the survivors negatively, for example. Hopefully we see some changes on it, since the last survey asked about both Eyrie and Square and they are changing Eyrie so we might see more changes for Borgo in the near future.
Father's Chapel is the one and only map where I have taken a killer on a full five gen chase. I had the double window main building with fillers, good connecting gym with shack, and more. The killer was probably not too happy with that RNG.

-Not only the filler loops in Asylum and Eyrie are specially above average in safety, Badham and Coldwind Farm also stand out in that regard and in the case of Coldwind, it is the reason why the farm maps despite having not so many pallets (other than Cowshed) they still are very fearsome in chase, plus the potential for set ups is enhanced due to the reduced space where loops spawn since the permanent corn pushes them together (and they are already strong enough on their own so when chained they are even more dangerous).
Shelter woods never feels like it has 8 pallets. It feels like it has 0
@Twoshu I will add, at least in my experience so this is subjective and not objective, that the pallet placements in shelter woods are almost always in dogshit locations (they're unsafe). They're always by random tree-and-rock placements. Super easy for the killer to play around.
Wow Otz I’m not playing dbd currently but it’s good to see your passion for the game still lives on. Good work!
In the Saloon there’s that dead end room with a window and 2 breakable walls, the Dredge downed me in there and bamboozled the window nonstop so nobody could save me 😂
The Last survivor tried to hide in there while I Was the Knight. I just let loose my Assassine and watched 😂
I barely even play DBD anymore, and I still love watching your videos. You got an awesome personality, Otz!!
Love this channel and I love the sense of community it’s brought for me
no way real people play idv ☠️
Just as I start my homework otz uploads. Thanks otz.
I appreciate that despite all the time nad effort that goes in to making a four hour tier list, you have all the results at the very beginning for people who just want to see them.
Otz is literally a gift from the heavens to the dbd community
Honestly wish this video could last forever. This was such a pleasure to listen to and learn all about the different variants of each map/spawn logic. Thank you and everyone who helped making this ❤.
thank you Otzdarva for ALL the work you do for ALL the DBD players out there. really appreciated
I absolutely love dead dawg as a survivor, the loops are so unique and I like looping at main building
I really like midwich elementary as a survivor it’s a hard map to play on but that’s the best part, it rewards stealth and clever plays really well
I’m really happy that he goes into pretty much everything in this video.
Otz is a real estate agent for the entity saying things like “upstairs you’ll find a generator, a window, etc”
Who’s here after waking up from falling asleep?
Every day
Bruh I swear everytime I fall asleep watching RUclips I always end up on otz channel
Literally every time
You’re a wizard Harry
Thank you for the content otz, you’re the only dbd RUclipsr that I watch even though I don’t really play much anymore
“It is actually very very large and good teams will make the killer feel every one of those inches.”-Otz 2023
Aww, I love this sweet green-dressed Mikaela peacefully running around and pointing finger at things like a little museum guide :>
That's some cute stuff~
these long videos are a BLESSING otz. Thank you so much for them!
As a player of about 27 minutes... you are incorrect.
Ngl this video has been belong me get to sleep even when I’m struggling with my meds this video is so nice and comforting having on and it’s very good to remember this changed my gameplay insanely
What a great video even if i don't particularly agree with a couple placements. It is still easy to appreciate all the work that went into this.
Great work otz my goodness
the only thing that matters is the time it’ll take my random teammates to run the longest path in the game to my hook when im about to go to second
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS! My favorite DBD content creator for this exact reason.
Very very informative video, Otz thank you for this.
There are millions of reasons why Otz is my favorite streamer to watch. Easily understandable guides like this and everything explained in detail is one of them.
it helps that he has a lax, playful voice and demeanor about him. he's also consistently able to learn from mistakes and keep a friendly aura about him even when he's temporarily frustrated.
the community that supports Otz also tends to be on the wholesome side of DBD, which is another large factor imho.
as a survivor main, dead dawg is the best map in the game also the most fun to play (rip locker saves btw)
True, dead dawg is looping playground
Otz just wanna say, this video has been amazing. I can just put in some earbuds as i work (clean). Makes work a lot more bearable and i always look forward to playing dbd when i get home.
I know its true that Midwich is pretty strong for killer, but for me personal its somehow way harder than any other of the first 2 tiers.
Maybe because there is pallet after pallet after pallet.
Another multi hour ASMR and learning video from Otz, nice.
Otz is actually the only reason I came back to dbd ❤️
I understand why he’s the top dbd content creator bro puts so much time into this dbd talks
haddonfield being so high for killer side is ridiculous
I'm also surprised he put it on killer side
memorial institute verdict did not make sense to me. If this map is not survivor-sided no map is.
Otz long ass videos are the only ones ill watch from begging to the end, because everything is worth it ❤️
Can we all appreciate how much effort he puts in for his community and a video game ? We are so lucky to have a enthusiast like him.
baby wake up...new 3+ hour video from Otz dropped. You're a legend for being able/willing to make so many of these. Much love Otz.
We love you and what you do for this community Otz, thank you.
Strongly Disagree with lery's. Greatest counter to Nurse and Blight. If you are playing in high MMR SWF it is the killers you are scared the most.
Otz you make the game so much more interesting. Thank you. :)
Otz is the hidden gem of the Dead by Daylight community.
Hidden? This man is probably more known than behavior themselves
@@Kirblazethefirst Yeah, I love Otz's content as much as the next guy, but he is literally the biggest DBD content creator in the world (and rightfully so, I might add)
I think Hidden is very very unfitting
Unbelievable amount of work on display, thank you Otz
IMO: Gald you mentioned RPD east as I've also been finding it pretty nice the more I play it as killer. Lerys being there is very interesting and I dont think I entirely disagree but id love to see you talk about it more. The Game being that high still seems like hyper copium. Overall, amazing content as always ❤️
Lery's has always been my favourite killer map because of how small it is and the lack of really safe loops it has. I'm not surprised it's third best for killer.
@@elmacho1336 I'm sure me playing Billy and Nurse 90% of the time also dampers the experience lmao
@@elmacho1336 lerrys has a literal infinite in that main room which against killers without chase powers you have to block 6ish windows before a hit
Watching this for both the tips, but also as background whilst I work. Your voice is nice good sir :)
Hello otz this is friends
I disagree. About to watch it though.
Otz is so entertaining I just spent almost 4 hours listening to information I already knew but it was worth it
Still playing DbD for not too long i slowly get used to the maps (a fact that i did completely deny in the beginning) - this video could have shorten the process of learning it the hard way by far.
Deja vu is also really good at avoiding 3 gens, I ran it when I first started playing!
I don’t play dbd much now but with this 4 hour video I will be able to enjoy your voice during breakfast lunch and dinner over a few days.
2:04:19 Hello Otz (this is friends) Thanks for the immense effort in such projects and the daily excellent content and streams!
I would actually argue that Shattered Square is clearly one of the most survivor sided maps in the entire game. (More down on the list like Cowshed.)
The main building truely has a medium palette, but the extension (made of brushwood) makes the loop twice as long as the long side of shack.
How this man keeps energy to make such videos is beyond my understanding 💀
Have a nice day all
This is awesome! Gonna add the map layouts and tiers to my ever-expanding DBD spreadsheets
I’ve been waiting for this for so long. So glad it’s finally here
2:09:35 had me doing the eyebrow raise from The Rock ahahaha awesome video thank you so much, Daddy Otz! ❤️
The amount of work he putting into helping out others is so insane
Another nice quick video I can watch in between matches. Loved it.
Love me a quick short but informative guide from otz !
Father's Chapel is the one and only map where I have taken a killer on a full five gen chase. I had the double window main building with fillers, good connecting gym with shack, and more. The killer was probably not too happy with that RNG.
all those days off of streaming to give us this gem of a video! Love your work otz, your videos and streams help me so much not just to expand my DbD knowledge but to help me get through my day
You can’t imagine how much I love your 4-hour videos
