- The Trak Racer TR8 Pro is the new replacement of the company's highly popular TR8. Unlike nearly all new sim racing cockpits, the TR8 Pro is not made from aluminum extrusion and instead, uses a tubular design to give a unique look and feel to your setup.

My first sim series race in Assetto Corsa at Nola Motorsports. We will be running 1st gen Fits with maybe 100hp so it'll be a lot of flat out racing.

I have this cockpit for about half a year now and I’m more than happy with it. Recently, I moved to another place and I could disassemble it in just 3 pieces and assemble it within 10 minutes in my new home. It has zero flex and it just looks so good
Ease of assembly/disassembly is definitely what I need.
No flex in the pedals or wheel base?
@@Barry.R nothing
I think you have the prior version. This is the newer "Pro" model. No?
@@maxmoser412 I have the pro version. Only issue I had is that it was hard to get one or two drill holes from the different parts of the rig aligned with each other. Once I fixed it the rig was rock solid. Don’t notice any flexibility in the steering wheel and pedal plate. After I got used to the different seating position lap times got really consistent
I even had to configure more break pressure because all the forces went into the break pedal itself instead of bending the plate it was mounted on
Wow, I still can’t believe how good the production quality is in these videos! Easily beats plenty of 400k+ sub RUclipsrs. Keep it up OC!
How can you not? It's a cookie cutter his father needs his ghetto home theater back. He reads off scripts and talks like it's a ghost channel with that annoying voice.
You did a really good job on this vid. I am currently shopping a cockpit and I think I have watched every vid on every cockpit available. You got right to the point and gave me lots of valuable info. If the other youtubers had done this it would have saved me hours. Of course now that I am ready to pull the trigger on buying a cockpit nothing is in stock and they don't have covid to blame that on any more.
I think there’s definitely a market for these tubular rigs, but if aesthetics and ease of assembly aren’t high on your list of needs, going profile is a significantly better option. Less flex, more options for expansion, etc.
100% I always see people say that their TR rig has no flex yet the pedal plate is clearly moving when they hit the brakes.
Bought this one a week ago and have it in use since three days. I absolutely Love it an will be happy with it forever. There is so mich room to add and extend the experience with some more things like a buttkicker!
It looks incredible and there is ni flex at all with my Fanatec components in use.
Got a 400€ Discount during Black week and payed LEDs than 1000€ with Extras like the monitor Mount, rally seat, tablet Mount and more.
Love those videos! Thank you so much for making these!
Glad you like ‘em, cheers :)
Always a good evening when King posted 👑
Keep up the great work! Love your videos :)
Thanks a lot! Many more coming soon :)
I just got a thrustmaster tmx this morning and I love it
You can get a harness for it which is a really cool thing since it’s rare to see sim rig stores supply harness’s
I got the original tr8 had it for 2 years now it’s great no need to upgrade for me haha
Great video keep it going brother
Will do, thanks!
Great video as always. I agree it’s the adjustability that would kill this for me as well. If you’d rather look good than to feel good it’s very nice.
I just bought all the aluminum and everything to make my sim racing rig. In my country it is way cheaper to buy the actual material than a branded sim rig. Not gonna lie, I just went to a sim rig website and straight up copied a design I liked. Not even gonna say the brand because I have no clue if there are patents or copyright stuff behind all that. But that's what I did. I measured everything and copied it all. Looking forward for everything to arrive so I can start sim racing on it !
Thanks for posting this review. I was looking at this with a Sparco EVO QRT but my biggest issue right now is pedal flex in my home made desk setup so this is a deal breaker for me. I was hoping the Alpine rig would be out by now but I see it’s delayed until “Feb” but at this point they probably won’t hit that date either. Do you have a recommendation for under $1000 w/o a seat? I have a Fanatec DD and pedal combo
Great video! When mentioning dimension could you include metric measurements even if it's only on screen.
I have the same MSI Aegis desktop. It is pretty amazing!
I have had this rig for around 4 months. Overall its really good and I am happy i purchased it. However there are a few major drawback he did not mention. Firstly the seat adjuster can come off really easily meaning you have to go under the seat and bend it back into position. The bucket seat is really uncomfortable for long periods and i have had to get a lumbar cushion to stop back pain. I would suggest getting your seat elsewhere. The monitor stand was unusable on my 32 inch display and I ended up using a normal monitor arm to attach it (way easier to add as well). The biggest issue however which is a constant pain, Is the mounting of the shifter. It has two box plates right next to each-other each with 2 bolts to keep in place. It is very fiddly to add this to the frame then tighten, which would not be an issue if you had to do it only once but these screws constantly come loose. If you use the gear shifter for 2 or 3 hours you will have to tighten the screws again which is a major PITA. I cannot stress enough how fiddly these screws are to get to!.
Loctite
Looks awesome!!!!! 😁👌🏁
Nice review. Have had the Pro about 6 weeks now and to get the monitor directly behind the wheel base, ie closer, simply invert the wedge shaped base plate prior to mounting.
Hmm, thanks for letting me know! How do you like the Pro so far?
@@OCRacing really like it. It's my first dedicated rig though and went for it due to the aesthetics, as it shares a place my wife's home office and is fairly compact also.
Can you elaborate? On pictures it looks like the stand is just 1 piece, if you invert the wedge it seems the monitor faceplate is on the wrong end? Interested in this but the monitor being far is a bit of a turn off from the low cost appeal of just slapping it on the rig.
@@AyaxRo yes no problem, monitor stand is not one piece, the base fixing plate is a separate entity and can be rotated 180 degrees on a horizontal plane. The fact that it’s wedge shape therefore means the monitor upright is closer to your base. The monitor height can be adjusted also. My 34” Möbiuz ultra wide sits directly over the back third of my Moza R9, as a result. Could show a pic, but not sure how to do that here.
@@ciaranconnor4466 Thank you. its quite clear. Cheers :D
I love my TR8 Pro. My wife accidently got me the wrong triple monitor mount. It's for the TR8. As far as I can tell the only difference in mounts is the center brace. Do you know if that's the only difference? I can drill new holes for center brace, or just use 1 of the two holes...?
Would the Moza SRP pedal review come out soon? Because you mentioned it on an Iracing video that you're on the process of making a review of it
I actually moved from a SimLab aluminium profile rig to this purely due to aesthetics, as I was moving in with my partner and she didn't like extrusion cockpits.
The pedal deck flex was noticeable, even with brake force of 40kg. I had to modify it with a 8mm steel plate mounted with a SimLab pedal deck. I wasn't impressed with that.
The wheel deck has some flex when you push the wheel away from you, but it's only about 1-2mm of vertical displacement. Not noticeable during use.
There are three vertical holes to adjust the vertical height of the wheel deck via 6 screws. Those screws are a bit soft so be careful not to strip them.
Overall, once everything is set up properly, it's a good rig. I resorted to a standalone extrusion monitor mount to mount my triples, keyboard tray, button box and mouse pad.
If my SimLab P1X was a 10, I'd rate this cockpit a 7.
Thank you for this feedback, i'll have this checked out and resolved. Stay tuned for a replacement mount. Matt from Trak Racer here.
@@mattsten6936 Thanks for the reply, Matt. I think the flex on the pedal deck is because the second horizontal beam (behind the main horozontal beam with 4 mounting holes) is not supported by any structure. A small piece of 30cmx2cmx1.5cm metal that eliminates the gap between the second beam and the frame made all the difference for me. I wanted pedal sliders so I further modified it with SimLab accessories.
Will Trak Racer make a replacement part for the pedal deck?
Thanks for listening to your customers.
Kinda crazy to go from a px1 to this, I would of told your partner to get over it.😂
How does this frame work with shorter people? I'm 5'6" (168cm) and want to make sure the wheel won't be mounted too high. I love the look of this frame when compared to the extrusion frames, but I worry about the wheel height since the baseplate cannot be adjusted.
How would you compare it to the NLR GT Track? I like the smaller over space they both take up.
So the keyboard and mouse tray isn’t good? I just ordered one but couldn’t find any reviews online.
@OC Racing any chance you could check out the sim hound cockpit it's 300 quid and a full aluminium profile rig. I currently own this rig and I'm certain that lots of people would be helped out if you shared a review on it. If you reach out to them I'm sure they'd send it to you for review as their customer service is excellent.
Hey OC, what would you say the height recommendation is on this cockpit is? I’m 165 cm (Short I know) and was looking to get this. I just what to know for sure that I will fit. Also don’t want to get a full profile rig. What are your opinions, got any recommendations other wise?? Great Review 👍👍
I own the older version mach 3 I believe it's a great cockpit, especially for your first venture, but I will admit once you've got a nice collection of bit's there's just not enough mounting options the plate for the shifter and handbrake is not in the right place for me and you can't really move it, same thing with the wheel I just cant get the right angle while keeping the wheel low and where I wanted it but last year I upgraded to an aluminium exclusion rig and the customization is amazing compared. I got everything dialled in the first day and very happy for the switch
Can the shifter be moved onto the left side?
Bought the cockpit, and I have some concerns about 3 aspects...
1 - The monitor stand wiggles a bit because the screws ate half a milimeter too long and can't screw enought to tighten the monitor stand. Minor problem, but it shouldn't exist.
2 - The support for the bucket seat has 3 positions to attach to the main structure, but only one of the positions aligns with the base holes. The others can't be screwed, they are there only for show.
3 - The small screws that fit the rail (4 each side 4mm? diameter) dont reach the threads with the washers provided, you either take one of the two washers, or put a longer screw.
Other than that, fantastic piece.
Sick editing
I was a little sick while editing this video, yes.
It's ok. Wouldn't say anything special
i would be fun if you review a gt omega art cockpit:)
trak racer make buttkicker mount for the tr8 pro so i dont understand how it would be hard to customize as i fell like most people are fine with one buttkicker
Had my tr8 pro for about 6 months abd my first proper rig, its been amazing, i would like to see the wheel deck revised for a bit more adjustability up and down though
Matt from Trak Racer here. we are updating the manual but you can actually lower the wheel plate more by flipping the wheel mount. Stay tuned for the manual update :)
@@mattsten6936do you still work there? I was thinking of ordering 1 but it says it's not in stock. Any idea how long I'd have to wait before I got it?
Only reason I’m looking I’m looking at this rig, is because it’s going to stand in my living room and I think it’s a lot prettier than profile rigs, plus if I buy it. I would get wheels for it, so it’s easier to move around.
This Cockpit looks good and all, but you should check out SIMETIK K2-R or SIMETIK X2
You can see the movement when hes turning left and right. Wow

Made it just for you.
I’m 5’5 is the wheel position going to feel too high for me? Also I don’t like how the monitor looks like it is too far away.
I'm 5'7" and the wheel feels a bit too high and far for me. And I have the seat rail mounted and slid up to the most forward position. And the wheel base slid to the most rear and lowest position. Usable, but I'd like the wheel to be closer and lower. My friend who is 5'3" can barely reach and see over the steering wheel... Lol
I'm really torn between this and their TR80 Lite profile cockpit. I have no plans to use a shifter, so the lack of adjustability there doesn't matter to me. The smaller footprint of the TR8 is a plus, because the rig lives in a flexible living space, and needs to be able to be easily moved to the corner so it's out of the way and doesn't take up too much space when not in use. I won't be going crazy with add-ons either. Just a keyboard and tablet mount, and a buttkicker. The TV will be on a stand-alone mount in the corner of the room for regular use, so any concerns with monitor flex, vibration, positioning, etc, is not an issue either. Wheel setup will just be a Logitech G Pro setup for the foreseeable future. Kind of leaning towards the TR8 just for easy assembly, smaller footprint, appearance is more favorable to my wife, etc. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I mean it rlly fancy
Very similar to my Playseat Sensation Pro!
How do you like the sensation pro?
Nice
Nice indeed.
Best looking rig that look good in any room is the Monkey Driver Seat. Fast shipping as well to US.
I just know you spent Thanksgiving making this video 😂
AHAHA, maybe…….
Hello!
Do you remember how tall the smallest person you recommend is? Is it suitable for my 140cm child? The Trak racer wrote that it is suitable from120cm, but I'm afraid only because of the sale.
I'm curious @ocracing how tall are you? I was thinking about getting this exact same rig from trak racer but I'm 5'7 and when I emailed the company they said the rig sits high and for someone of my height it might not be a good idea to buy this
I’m your height lol, it works great for us haha.
I'm 5'7" also. Short legs. The wheel is a little too high and a bit too far from my body. That's even after re mounting the seat sliders to the most forward position. And having the wheel base slid to the most rear and lowest position. Usable for me. But my friend who is shorter, she can barely reach the wheel or see over it. Not ideal.
What she’ll rim is that
I was wondering if it's possible to install the Next Level Motion Plus on this rig?
Not sure for certain but I would say it’s very unlikely
it's possble but you will sit up a bit high. we have a full motion base coming next year that will move the whole frame for the same price as a next level seat mover. Matt from Trak Racer here.
@@mattsten6936 Awesome news, thank you!
I own a Logitec G pro wheel so I hesitate to say something is overpriced without trying for myself [what everyone who's never used my wheel says]but the GT Omega Titan seems to be a very similar rig that's nearly half the price .Is this really that much better? .ps it seems every non 80/20 rig has flex in the pedal plate so I've never had a problem bracing it myself with a couple of pieces of 4x2 wrapped in black to look neater ,
Have you tried some other de wheels?
@@ova578 Yes I've driven Fanatec wheels before why do you ask ?
@@ova578 Any reasons why this is twice the price of the Titan that stand out to you ?That was my point

please check the price without seat. UPS have added a new penalty fee due to the box size Matt from Trak Racer here.
Anybody else feel that when Trak Racer finally releases the Alpine trx sim rig that its going to be far better then the tr8 pro and really finally be up there with aluminum profile rigs? Going from gt to f1 super quick and it looks like it has lots of adjustability that one of these tubular rigs has not really had before. I know alum profile rigs are nice and considered to be the best but damn there boring looking they all just look like black 2x4's in a boring rectangle frame. The alpine trx looks like it could be a potential game changer but i wont hold my breath but it always comes back to boring profile rigs taking the top spot

Edit: I saw the price and its slightly less cool
The TR8 Pro certainly looks unique 😅
Not slightly less cool, way less cool. This should be $800 WITH a seat (even a budget seat would be ok).
@@mpholicx2 $800 with a seat is not possible at this level. to get to that price we would need to reduce the material in the tube substantially, lower the quality on the components, lower the paint quality etc. This is not an entry level cockpit and at the price, it's great value for money. Matt from Trak Racer here.
I just want something comfy, cheap, stable, and that goes invisible and takes up no space when not using it
Hmm okay. Unfortunately I don't that technology exists yet...
