  • Trak Racer launched the TR8 sim racing chassis in 2018. Five years later there are over 10,000 TR8 drivers in the world and the feedback from them led to the update TR8 PRO. It is a refined version of the original chassis with improvements being made at every corner.
    The TR8 Pro is a highly adjustable sim racing chassis that is prepared to accept all major sim racing gear. The rig is strong and made to work with any size driver.
    Shaun Cole of The Simpit tells you everything you need to know about the Trak Racer Tr8 Pro in this detailed review.

    This is the best video on this rig. You hit everything you need to know. No one else even gets close. Just ordered one🎉 thanks for the video. If it wasn't for your video, I would of overpaid for a seat when I already had one that works and costs more.

    I own this rig and it is a very nice rig,so much adjustability I’m sure any body size can find the correct position.With my fanatec csl dd 8nm there is no flex at all In the steering bracket.I don’t notice any movement or flex in the pedal plate.I’ve owned 4 different rigs and this is by far my favorite,I can’t see myself getting rid of this one.I definitely recommend this rig.

      @@AWD_DSM_FTW Hi, so sorry, I just saw the email notification of this. Yeah, I did go for the GT elite aluminium wheelplate edition. I got a simagic gt neo, alpha (15nm) p1000 pedals with springs. I am very very happy with the choice. It was the cheapest (for me) out of the choices (total cost with shipping, since the next level had 0 shipping cost and the shop offered their own bucket seat for a very good price), but it is wonderful. Me and my flatmate has been racing in it ever since (ca 250 hours combined) and nothing moves or squeaks or bends. I am very very very happy with this decision.

    I just built my TR8 Pro. I replaced the 4 round button head bolts that attach the seat to the sliders with M8 20mm Hex bolts. It's a giant pain trying to tighten the button head bolts with an Allen Wrench and you will eventually strip the head with the Allen Wrench. The new M8 20mm (1.25 thread) Hexagon requires a 13mm open/closed wrench and takes a minute or two once you get them threaded. The Allen Wrench method takes 20+ minutes tightening in a tiny space under the seat.

      I'm not sold on the adjustable wheel deck being held by only 2 handle screws that dig into the stainless steel tube sliders. Seems rather flimsy when you consider all the parts being well thought out and top quality. Time will tell if the handle screws can keep the wheel deck from moving after the rigors of force feedback.

    Nice video... I do own the original. The Pro looks great too. One thing I did not see mentioned in the video is the option for castor wheels? I did get a phone call and left the video playing for a bit, I might have missed it. But they are a solid addition to the rig. I would think the pro has this option? I can roll the rig around to clean and dust. Wheels lock into place and are stout! Owned it for about a year now. I'm very satisfied with the purchase. I have the csl dd 8nm and shifter mounted to it. It was pure joy to assemble. Was not missing any parts and everything lines up!

    I wish they gave buyers the option between the shifter mount or the monitor mount. Monitor mount came standard with the original TR8, so it would seem that giving buyers the option would have been an easy thing to do. Plus, I know far more people that would want the monitor mount and have no interest in adding a shifter to their rig.

    I've no experience whatsoever with sim rigs but would like to get into them. With the new Forza Motorsport coming out, I would like to use a rig and no longer use a controller. I play on a Xbox Series X. I've no clue what kind of wheel to get, nor rig. I do like this Trak Racer Rig, but for the price would it be worth for my first setup? Also, as an Xbox Player, I've read where the Logitech G923 Steering Wheel with pedals and shifter are a great start for beginners. The only thing I have against it, is the noise from the gears on the inside. I looked into a Logitech G Pro Steering Wheel which has Direct Drive and quiet operation. Would the Logitech G Pro and the Trak Racer Rig be a good start for a beginner rig setup? The only thing I have against both items is the price. But I don't want a noisy wheel or a weak rig that produces a lot of flex. What advice does anyone have on what I should begin with? (I'd rather not spend no where near $2,000 for a setup because I don't have a set income, but I want something nice. Something best bang for buck for a beginner)

    • @TheSimpit
      @TheSimpit  10 месяцев назад

      Most profile rigs will offer you no flex. Look at Trak Racer and Simlab. They offer great rigs. For a wheel base, Fanatec CSL and the Moza R3 offer Xbox compatible direct drive wheelbase that are much cheaper than the Logitech.

    Ok my rig showed up and I had one hiccup. The installation of the wheel base mount confused the heck out of me. Long story short, I ended up removing the bearing sliders completely to attach them to the wheel base mount. Once connected to the wheel base mount, I couldn’t get it to slide back on the left and right side. I thought this was a needed step as the left/right sides were originally installed in the upside down position (based on your video configuration). I needed them inverted to place the “lock down” levers on the top. However, removing the bearing sliders only rather than the entire assembly and swapping sides caused me to either wear out the lubrication or slightly damage them causing abrasive sliding mechanics (as I had to use a mallet to get them back on). I haven’t attempted to re-apply lube to the chrome/polished slide poles to improve the sliding movement. Although it’s still functional (albeit abrasive rubbing) I did leave a message with Trak Racer on the possibility of getting a new left/right slider sent out to me. I felt like there was a definite disconnect in the manual (4b) on how to actually go about this step. Now, I’m on vacation and awaiting the arrival of my Moza hardware to install.

    Do you remember how tall the smallest person you recommend is? Is it suitable for my 140cm child? The Trak racer wrote that it is suitable from120cm, but I'm afraid only because of the sale.

    I own a tr8 pro. I had to add a piece of steel under the second beam of the pedal deck to make contact with the frame. The second beam just hangs without it, causing a lot of flex. It only cost 10 USD and completely eliminated the flex. This is only an issue when the pedal deck is mounted further from the driver.
