I already have my g29 shifter mounted to the plate, so it would need to attach to the square piece that comes out next to the seat, I suppose. I bought the cockpit off of your recommendation, so thanks!
Just build up mine, there is hardly any flex in the wheel mount assembly. I did use better bolds with hex heads instead of the allen to fix the sliding assemble as thight as possible. (Some of the included allen bolts are rubbish.) I think you forgot to thighten it properly or you got a faulty part somewhere.
hello mate, how did you mount the guides for the seat?? mines are very tight and i cant put in the correct position to assemble the screw to the chasis. thanks from spain for the video
I don't really understand why this exists at the price point it does. It looks nice and has adjustablility. That's it. It brings nothing else to the table, certainly not for £1300. You can pick up a TrakRacer tslot rig for 1/3 the price, get the pedal deck sliders + seat rail sliders and have enough change over for any seat you want. Hell you probably have enough money left over to get it powered coated as well. Is that the same pedal deck you get on their tslot rigs? The metal looks about 1mm less, that wheel deck is certainly half the thickness of even their most basic version.
Hey Karl thanks for another top review, without spending an arm and a leg but at the same time not having regrets i didn't spend more, what would you suggest cockpit wise for a full aluminium profile type?
I don't think the flex is that bad. I would be more worried about how low I could get the monitor and knee space which is necessary in a formula position.
First thank you so much for this Video you saved me 1000 EUR. I want that Rig because the flexibility and options for F1 or GT are awesome but sorry the flex is a no go! At the time I use a Oplite GTR S3 Rig for 300 EUR and with a Fanatec DD1 Base is flex. Standard also at the pedals, so I want a better rig but now I know the Alpine TRX is not a Option for me. Do you know a better Rig for F1 and GT with sliding adjustments for Seat, pedals and Steering Wheel? Thank you
Hi Karl, thanks for the review. I ordered this back in May and each month when I chase for an ETA they say next month. Last week they told me it would be this week and now when I have contacted them they now have no ETA! Have just cancelled. What rig would you recommend me getting instead? Thanks
Hmm not the best experience there mate :( Without knowing what you need it's hard to recommend one, but assuming it needs to be able to change from GT to F1 like this does I'd hold on for my review of the upcoming Cooler Master Dyn X as this looks to be quite promising!
I don’t necessarily need to change between positions. It is for my son. We have fanatec dd2. The rig was meant to be for his birthday in June so keen to finally get one. Have you tested the p1 x sim racing rig?
Love the review, but more importantly as someone who appreciates sound quality and clean set ups I was super impressed with your speaker set up! At initial glance I was wondering if you were running some kind of wireless speakers that I have never seen nor heard of... but upon really close looking I could see how you ran your wires and I am super impressed!! Cheers mate from one of your yankee viewers from across the pond.
Hi Karl, I'm finally in the market for a rig and I want to brainwash my kids into the wonderful world of sim racing. This is basically the best rig you could buy to easily adjust it on the fly for smaller people right? I wouldn't use more than 12nm on the wheel and I'm a sock racer who doesn't like ultra stiff brake pedals so this seems like the ideal choice?
I don't know about "best rig" but it does have a lot of adjustment which is great if you need it. A GT Omega Prime lite with pedal tray sliders and seat sliders (standard) would usually be more than enough for most though and a fraction of the price.
Hi Karl, do you know of or recommend any mounts or decent priced motion rigs/platforms for these tubular sim rigs? I've got the TR8 Pro which is similar to this & the options are extremely limited. Just wondered if there are mounts you can attach to actuators designed for 80/20 rigs that might expand our limited tubular options. (Also doesn't help I live in NZ where motion options are already limited)
@@KarlGosling Cheers anyway. I should've thought about that before I got my rig. Still love it though. Also, your reviews are by far the best, well thought out & explained among the others. Always my goto if you've covered it, so thanks for all your effort you put in. It's definitely appreciated! :)
They have a frame on the TR website to attach Dbox motion actuators. I would guess in the near future TR will have their own motion as Matt from TR suggested this is a future plan for them.
@@jordanszoko6767 cheers mate. We don't even have the motion options on the NZ site & I just checked the AU site, which they do. Will probably cost me my testicles to get them shipped here. All 3 of them!
Hey Karl, I've been thinking about castor wheels for convenience. But the castor wheel holes are slightly inside so there's more wobble. Can you replace the feet with more castor wheels? More contact points and wider base should make it more stable.
I have the same setup. For the price, this thing feels like trash. At a distance it looks fantastic just don't look at it closely or touch it. The whole thing is covered in paint overspray and even the threads were painted and needed to be chased with a tap. They even left the round stickers (presumably designating the part number) on the tubes and painted over them. The Alpine graphics on the seat were poorly applied with wrinkles everywhere and they were also torn in shipping. Along with numerous scratches on other parts due to poor packaging. Enough about the cosmetics and poor QC. Let's talk about how well it works. This rig feels flimsy. Whether climbing into the rig, steering or pressing the pedals, everything moves when pressure is applied. Trying to get it to work properly with a Logitech G Pro wheel was a challenge. The original universal mount didn't work at all. I had to purchase version 2 and cobble it together. The brackets don't provide the correct range of motion to fit me for a GT position. Either the steering wheel is at the right height and the brackets protrude so low that they hit your knees or flip the brackets over to save your knees but now the top of the wheel is at the height of my nose. There is not a configuration that fits in the middle. I can't tell you how many times I've disassembled and reassembled the rig in different configurations to try to find something that works. I have a hard time believing that the Alpine F1 team had any input into designing this. I'd be truly embarrassed to put my name on it. This is just a prime example of marketing BS. Climb into any home built race prepped street car like a NA Spec Miata, which is a total limp noodle, and it feels like Fort Knox in comparison to this Harbor Freight knock off. Also the ergonomics are spot on where as this rig always feels compromised. Just as a point of reference, a roll cage, seat and brackets for a real car cost about the same as this rig. This product was overhyped and seriously under delivers. Wish I could get my money back.
Brother, Harbor Freight says it all. Very insightful comment. Seems like a lot of over adjustability, with no limits or Hardware really taken into consideration. An overabundance of connection points, and poor tolerances will Shirley add up to flex. If there are threads touching inside, they're not even close. The only reason I watched this it's because it's similar in design to the play seat I'm interested in . It's definitely aesthetically pleasing. It's one of the most attractive I think I've ever seen from the exterior. But to think, there's paint under the adjustment bolts.. and the things you've added. Wow
you are wrong, its way way to much flex 🙂, it wouldnt worry me if it took 1 hour to swap driving postions but that flex would drive me around the twist
I'm really surprised you use the supplied tools to assemble everything. I always assumed everyone binned those tools and used their own, and the only reason those tools are included is to tick a box to say everything is supplied.
Hello nice review!! Do you find a way to put an Asetek wheelbase on the TRX ? I bought one and I would like to buy an asetek wheel base in the future Prima or Forte
I think you'd be better off with the extruded aluminum rig. I have a hard time believing the tubular version is more expensive, that doesn't compute to me. Just my opinion.
look at minute 34 of the video. It is clearly seen how the steering wheel moves only with the tips of the fingers.... Too much money invested in advertising (they even put OCON's photo on the website), which should have been invested in making the cokpit more solid. 🤐
This is a great review. There's always going to be give and take when it comes to features. I'm mostly interested in the seat. How comfortable is the seat in the more "neutral" position? How does that compare to other seats or what seats would you recommend I look at that you've liked?
Just build up mine, there is no flex Karl must have made a mistake or got one with a defect. I did use better quality bolts to get the bolts as tight as possible.
Great review once again. The cockpit itself looks okay, but all I can think of is the flex. At this pricepoint you shouldn't be allowed to have such amounts ot flex. Also it seems to me like this cockpit only has great use in stuff like sim racing events so multiple people can use it with ease. Most people choose 1 position and keep it that way forever for their own daily rig. Also I won't ever like integrated monitor stands, having all this force going through a presumably high cost monitor sounds awful for it. I think even something like the GT Omega Titan does it better, hell I could even fix the pedal plate flex on it with a few blocks of wood bolted under it for my Asetek Forte's, and for the same price you could buy a Prime (or even better, prime lite) cockpit with a custom wheel plate unlike this monstrosity
All good points there mate, if you don't need all this adjustability then there's much better value and performing options out there, Prime Lite is a great all rounder as you say!
Isn't trak racer tr80-lite a lower price point than gt omega prime lite? The design of the tr80-lite wheel uprights are also more rigid from the way they bolt to the sides of the chassis.
It has a much better Motion system. You can buy a frame that connects under the Alpine Track Racer, and on that frame you can fix 4 D-BOX GEN 5 motion actuators. It costs a fortune though.....over $14,000 Australian dollars
Looks nice, but tubes are a no. Next level racing have a similar product but with profiles instead. This is currently £999 while non 160 F-GT is actually about £700 with 160 coming in at under £1k. I'm told by users it takes only 5 mins to change seats but does have an issue with screen placement. Imo it's not worth £300+ (on sale) for thicker profiles and improved pedal plate.
Maaaannn!!! Idgaf how good it looks. I’d attach my dd to a desk if I wanted that much flex. Just spend half as much for a 4080 profile rig that won’t have any perceivable flex. You want the ability to change position? Set it up for a gt driving position and put some blocks under the pedal end tilting the whole rig for formula position… it would be faster and easier considering the pedals and wheel would stay in the correct position relative to you. Not like this trying to drive with straight arms in formula position. Just all bad design this thing…..
You can see the horizontal tube flexing a little; but most is coming from within the wheel mount assembly which shouldn't be (and isn't normally) the case. We can assist with suggestions on eliminating that movement.
@@TrakracerAu The pedal tray and the seat "mounting solution" also show flex like crazy. Karl is probably right saying that you either get real stability or flexibility for your setup This product would not be for me, I'm afraid. Rigidity is the most important factor in order to feel comfortable in a sim racing rig.
@@aaachnoch the pedal tray flex can be fixed by tightening the pedal system with an Allen key which appears was not done for this video. Seat flex I have not seen but currently trying to simulate in our showroom. Most likely also due to a loose screw
Nothing is loose guys, every bolt is 100% tightened as per the instructions, you can see me following them on the screen in the background... the pedal tray flex is the tray itself and entire assembly which is expected from it's design and ability to raise up and down as far as it does... there is no vertical or horizontal support.
@@TrakracerAu What are the suggestions for eliminating the flex with the Fanatec DD Pro Wheelbase? I ordered one befor seeing this Video, but now im shocked with the flex. Actually thinking about cancel my order
I bought this rig, it is complete junk. Stripped out bolts squeaky. I used the $1000 play seat before, and liked it but it wasn’t rigid enough. Instead of buying the step up more rigid play seat($2500) I thought the Alpine TRX looked great and might be more rigid, but I was wrong. I just ordered the better playseat. if you are serious and practice daily you will not like this.
Yes sir… you have to be very careful taking out the bolts. I had many that tried to strip and had to replace a couple. Also if your not careful you can scratch the paint on your seat up like I did trying to put that on by yourself. Overall I think the price point for this is a bit high for what you get. I think the wheel mount was over thought and kind of confusing. The fit and finish of a Playseat is much better. You must be a lot smarter than me you put yours together much faster than I did lol! That was is soooo much money. Good family rig I suppose. I would be interested in the tr8 pro review
You need the front mount option for Simucube or Asetek wheelbases...
The Trak Racer one, yeah, shame they didn't include it in the review package.
Just build up mine, there is hardly any flex in the wheel mount assembly. I did use better bolds with hex heads instead of the allen to fix the sliding assemble as thight as possible.
(Some of the included allen bolts are rubbish.)
I think you forgot to thighten it properly or you got a faulty part somewhere.
I still going to get one because I don't mind a little flexes here and there
Yeah it's just a trade off.
1000 mercis! An real excellent rewiew!👏
Was just about to order this .thank god for this video cant be doing with that flex
hello mate, how did you mount the guides for the seat?? mines are very tight and i cant put in the correct position to assemble the screw to the chasis. thanks from spain for the video
I do not remember having a problem with the guides, maybe your holes are not drilled in exactly the right spot?
This was a lot of fun to watch, thank you.
Just ordered mine and I can't wait to get it all assembled
Enjoy mate!
Hey Karl thanks for another top review, without spending an arm and a leg but at the same time not having regrets i didn't spend more, what would you suggest cockpit wise for a full aluminium profile type?
GT Omega Prime or Prime Lite mate, good value and as solid as any other profile cockpit.
Cheers Karl much appreciated 👍
Thank you
Yes! The Gt Omega Hybrid ruclips.net/video/azFO_cFmyD8/видео.htmlsi=Vfmh8Do87QLniN_Q
@ Thank you for your answer and thank your the Hybrid review and yes thats what I want but at the moment this rig is out of Stock 😬😬😬
Got ours few days ago , i recommend getting the psvr2 if you have ps5 gt7 looks mad on psvr2
Hi Karl, thanks for the review. I ordered this back in May and each month when I chase for an ETA they say next month. Last week they told me it would be this week and now when I have contacted them they now have no ETA! Have just cancelled. What rig would you recommend me getting instead? Thanks
Hmm not the best experience there mate :(
Without knowing what you need it's hard to recommend one, but assuming it needs to be able to change from GT to F1 like this does I'd hold on for my review of the upcoming Cooler Master Dyn X as this looks to be quite promising!
I don’t necessarily need to change between positions. It is for my son. We have fanatec dd2. The rig was meant to be for his birthday in June so keen to finally get one. Have you tested the p1 x sim racing rig?
The cooler master dyn x looks lovely. Is this for sale yet? Couldn’t see any info on their website about ordering or price? Many thanks
@@KarlGosling any time frame for that review to come out or are you unable to say?
Thanks mate.Rig looks beautiful...But for this price point there should be no flexibility as much
Love the review, but more importantly as someone who appreciates sound quality and clean set ups I was super impressed with your speaker set up! At initial glance I was wondering if you were running some kind of wireless speakers that I have never seen nor heard of... but upon really close looking I could see how you ran your wires and I am super impressed!! Cheers mate from one of your yankee viewers from across the pond.
Thanks mate, appreciated! Things have to be clean, nice white cables to blend in with the skirting boards :D
Great Video!!!
I just got the cockpit but for some reason I am unable to download the manual. Do you have the pdf? Can you share it?
interested in the invertes pedal plate!
@@KarlGosling Thanks for the tip, I'll check that one out too.
I don't mate sorry, I've never mounted any motion systems to tubular rigs.
Karl, any guidance on how to get the front pedal tray to slide forward? Mine won't budge, was there a safety pin holding it in place?
How comfortable is the TRX seat compare to the rally seat?
hi mate hope you are well that monitor stand does that support big TVs/monitors mine is 55inch
Very in-depth review mate.
Glad you liked it.
Have it sitting in my office
Awaiting for pc hardware and vr headsets to get a bit more sophisticated for my liking
Hey Karl, I've been thinking about castor wheels for convenience. But the castor wheel holes are slightly inside so there's more wobble. Can you replace the feet with more castor wheels? More contact points and wider base should make it more stable.
If you match the thread size I do not see why not yes.
great review karl as always 👍 what do you rate that mclaren wheel?
It's ok for it's price but nothing special.
The flex can easily resolve if they put an extra support bar on each side. The fact that this thing costs $1600 and they didn't do it is beyond me.
will a Logitech Pro wheel bolt to this out of the box or is extra hardware required?
Outstanding presentation my man ! . 🏎 🏎 🏎
Thanks!
Wow
Excellent, comprehensive review as always. The rig looks beautiful but for £1400 there is way way too much flex.
you are wrong, its way way to much flex 🙂, it wouldnt worry me if it took 1 hour to swap driving postions but that flex would drive me around the twist
Looks nice would have been better if trackracer would have sent my peddle tray assembly and the chair adjustment bracket
Would a Moza R5 fit?
I'm really surprised you use the supplied tools to assemble everything. I always assumed everyone binned those tools and used their own, and the only reason those tools are included is to tick a box to say everything is supplied.
I do for review purposes, if it were mine I'd use my own! lol
Hello nice review!! Do you find a way to put an Asetek wheelbase on the TRX ? I bought one and I would like to buy an asetek wheel base in the future Prima or Forte
Yes you need the front mount from Trak Racer, they didn't send me all the mounts so didn't have it to try.
I want one of these pretty bad. The flex I don't think will bother me given the adjustability.
I think you'd be better off with the extruded aluminum rig. I have a hard time believing the tubular version is more expensive, that doesn't compute to me. Just my opinion.
Yeah it's a trade off.
I know you play Dr2 a ton. Do you have a group we can join for championship events with you?
I don't mate sorry, I'm just too busy with other life stuff to do it.
@KarlGosling that's fine no need to apologize we all have other stuff to do. Besides so many groups already. Thanks for making great content
look at minute 34 of the video.
The seat is fine for the time I spent in it, not too big not too small and quite comfortable.
Hey Karl, I'm thinking of buying the ART and I've got a Corsair gaming chair. Would that be fit into the rig? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
I don't know mate sorry.
The flex is a killer for me, especially at £1300
i agree
Just build up mine, there is no flex Karl must have made a mistake or got one with a defect. I did use better quality bolts to get the bolts as tight as possible.
cope@@frankderks1150
agreed
Can swap with GT style seats?
Yes but probably wouldn't work so well in F1 position then.
Excellent review thank you :)
My pleasure!
@@sharetasker4292 i haven't had a look at it, but I will, thanks
Is compatible ready for the next level 3 moving plataform?
It has a much better Motion system. You can buy a frame that connects under the Alpine Track Racer, and on that frame you can fix 4 D-BOX GEN 5 motion actuators. It costs a fortune though.....over $14,000 Australian dollars
10/10 review but for anyone considering this- if you're spending 1000+ on a TUBE racing sim... seek help
Great review.
Thanks!
@@KarlGoslingReally nice review, I op it for the tr8 pro it is $250 cheaper at the moment and much less flex. You made my choice really easy 😅😅
With the price now £1,848 in the uk is it worth it?
Watch the review and decide for yourself mate :)
I have and think the answer is it’s in no way worth it
It’s so sad, the cockpit looks so nice but then has so much flex compared to the simple PlaySeat Trophy.
I love how calm you are after 3 hours, I would have been moaning like hell - but then I guess you do work on cars
Working on cars requires extreme patience so yes! lol
Let me know if you decided to sell this beauty
Looks nice, but tubes are a no. Next level racing have a similar product but with profiles instead. This is currently £999 while non 160 F-GT is actually about £700 with 160 coming in at under £1k. I'm told by users it takes only 5 mins to change seats but does have an issue with screen placement. Imo it's not worth £300+ (on sale) for thicker profiles and improved pedal plate.
Was looking at these but that flex is really disappointing. Worse even than my old nlr rig. Literally not worth the upgrade.
Interesting; when you were actually driving I couldn't see any wobbles 🤨🤨
No none at all, as I said I was using a lot of force to get it to move, more than you would in real use.
I ordered one
Nice!
id rather het gt omega titan and from your review on that about and a quarter of the price nd more sturdy id get that one
The flex it shows at 34:30 is downright ridiculous. The guys at trakracer need to get back to the drawing board...
You can see the horizontal tube flexing a little; but most is coming from within the wheel mount assembly which shouldn't be (and isn't normally) the case.
We can assist with suggestions on eliminating that movement.
@@TrakracerAu
The pedal tray and the seat "mounting solution" also show flex like crazy.
Karl is probably right saying that you either get real stability or flexibility for your setup
This product would not be for me, I'm afraid.
Thank you
I'll stick with my playseat challenge, that's a hideous lump of metal lol 😂 I would even invest in the playseat trophy
Each to their own mate.
You forget to say that shipping for that garbage is 999€ 😂
I bought this rig, it is complete junk.
You had stripped out bolts too?!
Thank you for your video, I think it will be very helpful for people.
Kind Regards
Shaun
Glad I never pulled the trigger I'm not very impressed by the rigidity
The flex in the seat is shocking! I won’t be buying one of these!
Yeah I didn't even mention that but I did see it when editing the video!
I'm watching your video and I'm very glad I didn't buy this TRX garbage 😄
Alpeeeen :P
It's a very pretty rig, but there just as good sim rigs for cheaper.
19:27 I've only assembled from NLR and their nuts and bolts are utter sh1T. Ended up ordering some quality stuff from a local hardware store
Over $1800 US as configured 😢. Love the video and looks nice. But I’ll have to pass
Hmm steering wheel seems to be a Lil High, proly should reinstall the steering wheel underneath the bracket, Just Say’n
It is underneath the bracket.
