  • In this one I build a DIY Sim Racing rig for under $100. The rig is solid and with a CSL DD steering wheel and CSL Elite v2 pedals with a load cell brake mounted I didn't notice any flex at all.
Thanks for watching. Please like, comment and subscribe if you would like to see more sim racing content like this.
What I used for this build:
    A second hand seat
Approximately 9.82 metres of 4 x 2 (Allow some extra for mistakes, wastage etc)
    12x - M8 x 100mm Coach/ Carriage bolts (Optional, you can just use screws)
12x - M8 Nylon lock nuts (Not needed if you are just using screws)
12x - M8 Washers (Not needed if you are just using screws)
    Approximately 30x - 6mm x 100mm Woodscrews
    Black satin spray paint
    Measurements for cutting:
Long lengths that make up the base of the rig - 2 lengths at 127cm
Short lengths that make up the base of the rig - 2 lengths at 58cm
Seat base lengths - 2 lengths also at 58cm
Vertical Upright - 2 lengths at 56cm to the longest point (Top cut at 45 degree angle)
Diagonal Uprights - 2 lengths at 98cm to the longest point (Mounted at 45 degree angle)
Steering Wheel Base Crosspiece - 1 length cut at 49cm (Mounted at 8 Degree angle)
Pedal Base Uprights - 2 lengths at 20cm to the longest point (Cut at 22.5 degree angle)
Pedal Base Crosspiece - 1 length at 49cm
Pedal Base Crosspiece (Closer to seat) - 1 length at 49cm

Lmao, everyone coming in saying "need 500-2000$ worth of tools to build this" has likely never bought tools or used them before.
you can get all those tools like a miter saw, battery drill, clamps, tape measure, etc. for 300$, you don't need a top of the line shop to build this.
You could even buy a hand saw and angle jig if you were determined to make this.
If you aren't the kind of person who's set up to do DIY projects like this. Then this video isn't for you. Move along.
This is a fantastic DIY video. Thank you for putting the effort into it to hipefully inspire others who have access to simple tools to build something with their hands.

They are just lazy and poor people who try to look cheap and easy solutions.
This is a great solution and I can see that even a beginner could manage to build this with basic tools.
And yeah, if you are interested in DIY you should have no issue investing 300 bucks on the tools for this. Do 2 projects like this and you already saved the 300 bucks back :D

Well thought out design and executed build. I considered doing the same for my G29, but due to a severe lack of space, I was forced to buy a foldable wheel stand. While not nearly as steady and beefy as yours, it has served its purpose well.

Very nice build, I did something similar for my son. My tip is put some furniture wheels on it to make it easier to move around, and also clean under and around it. I put four regular wheels and two locking wheels on my sons rig and that works perfect. I also put those wheels on my 8040 aluminum rig for the same reasons.

Super nice!! Filling unused holes with dowels, now that's attention to detail! I've gone bare bones with my DIY rig: only 4 pieces of 1 x 2. I made a rectangle with them that sits flat on the floor. The pedal unit goes inside one end and two wheels of my office chair go in the other end. The steering wheel is mounted to the desk.
Not ideal, but good enough for now.

Small suggestions, as i was in that state also:
    1. I would go with wheels for easier manouvering.
    2. Think about raising your pedals and get an more "backwards" angle on your seat so that your pedals are nearly in the height of your butt.
to 2. i was pessimistic about that also but i tried it... man what a difference, there are good videos about it and honestly i think i got faster and more consistent on the track, because you can be way more consistent on the brake, especially if you have a loadcell like you do.
    Beside my critic: good work.

I just built one but i took ideas from a couple of blueprints to fit my needs. One thing i see is their all in bare wood or painted wood. i make subwoofer boxes as a side hustle and had some polymat and covered the whole thing with it. you can buy the polymat with a sticky side or do the spray can method. homedepot also got a version of polymat thats gray and alot cheaper but i did mine in black polymat. Polymat looks like the carpet in most cars. I will say it did add cost and time to the build but its wasn't too much

FYI: if you don’t sand that wood down A LOT before painting than it will dull fairly quickly and be hard to clean.. it’s worth putting a plastic/fiberglass/lamanent or something but obviously it will cost more that way.
Edit-Or get spray primer and spray it on first, than wet sand that smooth and than paint.
Edit 2- there’s some really cool things you can do with spray paint btw, just RUclips it. There’s a guy who shows you all kinds of crazy tricks!

hey! i know im a bit late, but how sturdy has this thing been? i really like the sleek design of the angled 2x4s coming up and holding the steering wheel. having those two pieces being the only ones sticking out makes it feel really clean, but it made me wonder how the stability is. have you noticed any shaking or wobbling during hard corners/forces, or have those two outer supports held up nicely?

    • @NotBubZ
      @NotBubZ 9 дней назад

update: i built something similar to this, not exactly the same, but using the same idea with the two supports coming up with two vertical supports lower down at the bottom. i didn't use any bolts, just 3.5" screws. holds up really well, no motion in it at all, fully sturdy. i recommend building this if you're trying to diy a rig!
