A Sim Rig That's Not UGLY? TRAK RACER TR8 PRO | Long Term Review | featuring
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 июл 2024
- How hard is it to find a good looking sim rig?! Turns out it’s pretty difficult, but this could be a contender. Form usually means LESS function, but has TRAK RACER got it right? I got some of ireland’s best (and roughest) JDM and drift car enthusiasts (Juicebox) to help me with a long term review.

Great review Laurence, I've purchased this a few weeks ago and agree with the rigidity and design. I am fortunate enough to live in Australia and visited the Trak Racer office. Not hijacking your review, however, here's some other considerations for your viewers. The rally and recliner seats are alot more comfortable (for me 186cm 90kg) than the GT style. I gave the rig mounted monitor stand a miss as it would be a shame to have some wobble on the rig. The DD slider adjustment on mine came pre-installed, except upsidedown (as compared with the instructions), so I had to remove those and invert left and right accordingly so the levers faced upward instead of below. Adjusting seating position is fine and fits me well. My seat slider did not line up with the slots out of the box, so some adjustment was needed there as well. There were also some dints on scratches that were a little disconcerting, however, after it's assembled, I could live with it. I wished they had better quality M8's bolt as I know that I have crossthreaded some on intallation. I would advise buying a pack of 4 M8 35mm bolts for mounting the pedal plate as the ones in the box are way too long. I built this myself in about 3 hours over 3 days with the tools provided. Overall, I am happy with it thus far. I'll put this to the test once the DD+ is on it.
Not a hijack at all! This is incredibly informative and constructive. It will be very useful for people who are making their decision. This is why I love the comments section on my videos, because of people like you taking the time to share your valuable knowledge. Thank you ❤️
In terms of looks, this beats every profile rig. but when it comes to sturdiness and customization, nothing is better than a profile rig, so it just depends on what you need or want, the good thing is, there is something for everyone.
A black profile aluminum rig looks 1 million times better then this garbage
@@SIMRIG412 I guess it's all about taste, I have a P1X, for stability and adjustability, but in general, I like tube rigs better visually.
I agree. A profile rig can be impressive but will never be more beautiful than a sleek rig.
Just because it’s not your preference, doesn’t mean it’s ’garbage’ 😂😂😂
@@SIMRIG412 I wouldnt say this is garbage, but I do like a black profile rig's looks better. The only thing I like better about this is the assembly time, but would I buy one, no.
A great honest review mate, i for one would never be allowed a profile rig and this fits into the wife begrudgingly nodding her head 😂
Haha exactly. I know that feeling all too well. It matters to our partners what the rig looks like and profile rigs are a step too far for most 😂😂😂
I've bought the flight sim rig from them and I am very pleased with the product.
Oh nice!
I gave it a “tums up” mainly because of the dedication to your brand of placing products in random locations 😂
I am awaiting delivery of a competitor, the P1 from R Seat.
Hahaha yeah I love a good outdoor shot 😂😂😂 I’ve not seen that R Seat in person yet
Great review.
I've not had flex in the shifter mount, but no where near as 'aggressive' as those guys were using it :-)
Very solid rig all in all. The GT seat is great.
Simucube2 sport and HE Sprint pedals fit without modification. (He Spint incl. HE's Pedal Plate) and very solid with eh stock rig mountings.
Great comment! Super useful for people who are in the market
As a very rookie ex drifter, I noticed drifters find ways of breaking everything haha
Great review, ive been using this with all the attachments and castors for portability. Its an awesome rig and i prefer this over a bilky/heavy profile rig
Yep there are plenty of reasons to get this rig. It was a very enjoyable experience for me
I’m curious how you have your setup that you need to have the rig easily movable. Do you roll it out in front of the living room tv when you want to use it?
@alecmillea4539 hey good question, I have a g9 oled mounted to a desk as I use it for work. When I want to race I push the rig to the desk. I get within 46cm so a 120 fov.
Do you mind me asking which castors you got for this rig? I'm looking into this one or the playseat trophy as I need something portable.
Hey do you have loud vibrations if you drive over cubrs on the rig? sry for my engslish
How big of a monitor can it take?
I do like the look of this rig. Seems very easy to get in and out of.
Yep very easy. The ergonomics are very good. Better than expected to be honest and the main chassis has 0 flex.
Im 185cm, how close to a formula position can you get into where your arms are basicslly 90-120° bent (close to the chest) and the seat is at least 30° angled back while the legs are almost straight?
I really like this rig because it doesnt look like scaffolding and a complete eye sore. Thanks for the vid. Tumbs up.
With Trak Racers inability to deliver products in a timely fashion, I would highly recommend steering clear of this company.
Sorry to hear about your experiences
I had this for a year, then sold it and got a 4080 profile rig from simlab. Never looked back ever since. The pedal deck and shifter mount on the tr8 pro flexed too much for my liking, even after mods.
Interesting. That’s a part that I didn’t get to test here because of the pedals I chose and how I mounted them. Thanks for the info!
I have never had any problems with my pedals
I can just imaging you sitting in the middle of the road driving in your rig while those drift cars are spinning around you.
Would have been amazing 😂
does anyone have a discount code? I want to buy the rs6 + rally seat. Thank you
I don’t unfortunately :(
Shifter bracket arm thingy 😂😂😂
Hahaha I wasn’t going to change their words 😂😂
i am, looking at this rig , i am just over 6ft tall , how ya think i would go fitting in it
Should be fine. I’m 6 foot tall too. Plenty more space
@@LaurenceDusoswa cheers pal,much appreciated
looking forward to the JuiceBox video in 2025
Hahaha apparently it’s only a few weeks out :)
I never really understood the hate that profile rigs get looks wise. My wife thinks all sim rigs are ugly and doesn’t want it visible in the living room. IMO profile or tubular, they both look fine and I’ve yet to see a tubular chassis that rivals the rigidity of even a basic 4080 profile rig. They all have severe compromises and bad flex somewhere in the design.
Kinda like the difference between a van and a bus. They might take up the same space but a profile rig looks a lot more industrial whereas a bus with windows and seats looks softer. Profile rigs are heavy and bulky generally.
@@LaurenceDusoswa If someone prefers the look so much more that they are willing to sacrifice some rigidity for the looks I get that. I feel like a 4080 rig on wheels isn’t really different from this on wheels in terms of portability.
As an RS6 owner I wish I just spent the little extra for this one. But live and learn
Ah pity. What are the shortcomings of the rs6 that you’ve experienced
@@LaurenceDusoswa I got it a few years ago but the pedal plate just isn’t strong enough. Now it is a mk1 and it’s different on the newer versions but it’s definitely harder to brake consistently. Moza R9 shakes it sometimes now haha
@apexvisiontv ah yeah :( that’s a pity. I guess this wasn’t around at the time
@@LaurenceDusoswa yup just means it’s time to upgrade that’s all!
I made this mistake too. The pedal plate flexs too much, the tr8 pro is practically no flex but it does depend on where you position the pedals.
I'm waiting for my this very minute.
Nice :) exciting! Let us know how it goes :)
@@LaurenceDusoswa I will. Waiting about 2 weeks now.
@@LaurenceDusoswaHow long did you have to wait for your delivery ?
@@Russell-rg2ej mine was super quick actually. Less than a week anyways
@@LaurenceDusoswa Thanks for the info. Your a youtuber, so i think that's why you got yours so fast, ;)
My tr8 pro, has flex in the pedalplate, using p2k at 60kilo.
The gt seat starts bending at 40kilo breakpressure.😂
TR offered me a 50€ discount because of that. What a joke for a 350€ seat.
I will sell the tr8 and get a profile rig.
I'm done with TR.
When braking the forces should be going through your lower back. Any fibreglass seat will bend at the top, especially at €350. From my experience there is no flex in the lower part of the bucket seat where the flex matters. When braking, if your shoulders or upper back are moving backwards then that explains why you saw flex.
As for the pedal plate, I didn’t get to test that properly unfortunately. But the part the pedals ultimately mounted to was solid as could be.
Shame to hear about your experience. Thanks for commenting though as it could be valuable info for potential buyers
@@LaurenceDusoswa bought a bimarco cobra 3 seat. With this seat i have no issues. Even at higher break pressures. And this is a 240ish € seat.
Boosted media had the same problem with the GT seat. I guess it was in the tr 120 review.
So. Yeah.
7:25 ish is brutal. So much wiggle and shake - yuck.
Got a simlab p1x, ohh boy , this thing is solid 😊😅
@@xvooodooo808 Same one I got at microcenter, best purchase yet.
Why? Why can no company make a tubular rig that doesn’t flex and move under normal use? I’m not a mechanical engineer or anything but I can see how easily this could have been designed to not move at all under normal use. Just triangulate the corners ffs. It’s not that complicated.
This one doesn’t flex 😂 just the single monitor stand and shifter mount. The rest is solid as a rock
@@LaurenceDusoswa It seems sturdier than most but the one guy in your video also said the wheelbase pushes away from you. I doubt my Alpha U could be put on full power and me still be able to drive if it pushes away with a weaker base.
@@alecmillea4539I think it’s the strength of the person and not necessarily the wheelbase. But it’s definitely a potential concern and that’s why it’s highlighted in the video :) and your comments help to inform people too. Thanks :)
@@LaurenceDusoswa Thanks for the clarification on that Laurence! Good to know it’s only a problem on a person to person basis and not an inevitability! Seems like one of the best tubular rigs I’ve seen in that case. Still prefer my profile rig 😅.
Give me Sim Lab or GT Omega Prime any day.
There’s good choice out there for sure

@The..petrel..head98 hahaha class :) I get it a good bit when people spot the accent. They usually don’t assume I’m Irish because of the wonky name. Thanks for the support and the craic! Nollaig Shona dhuit
@@LaurenceDusoswa nollaig Shona 👋
Better than most, but still pretty ugly
For a relatively affordable rig, it looks and performs great I think. But yeah it’s not for everyone
There is absolutely no reason to get this over a profile rig ever
Agree with you. This rig is trash compared to aluminum
For you maybe. There are plenty who don’t want a profile rig, or aren’t able to get a profile rig because their partners care about how it looks. Esports events, store installations, etc all use this type for a reason. And it’s not because it’s cheaper.
Well I like it.
@@joshwgreene haha that’s all that matters at the end of the day. I think it’s class. There are better rigs out there. There are also many which are nowhere near as good :)
I've been looking into rigs for a little while now and due to my space requirements, this is currently number 1 contender. The reason being is the footprint of it against the space I have and the monitor mount (I can't have anything too wide given I have a door opening very near to it) so there are reasons to buy this.
stupid rig with stupid price
