- Disney and Marvel Studios casting choices for their upcoming Fantastic Four movie have plenty of fans scratching their heads. Kevin Feige and the MCU gained a reputation for casting their superheroes very well in the past. But Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards and Julia Garner as Silver Surfer leave plenty to be desired. This week we learn sho's portraying The Devourer of Worlds Galactus. Fans also learned legendary actor John Malkovich is joining the cast in a yet unnamed role. Weird casting aside I think John Malkovich could’ve played a good Puppet master. Hell he was originally supposed to be Vulture
There's so many characters he could play, but unfortunately I expect Disney will find a way to screw it up.

It’s the descendant of Nathaniel Richards that becomes Kang. That was the punchline of the Byrne story that introduced Reed’s father.
Personally, I would’ve chose Mole Man as the villain for the first fantastic four film in the MCU.
Rumors say Mole Man is an opening Battle or something. That's who I think Malkovich is playing, although Puppet Master would fit him like a glove.
The problem with the Mole Man is that it would be terribly underwhelming. The FF are doing their thing and then Mr Magoo crawls out of the ground.
Cinema patrons would piss themselves laughing.
@@ian0143 I would say make him a huge threat for the first movie. Vulture wasn’t that good of a villain in the comics. But they brought a great, menacing version of him in the MCU.

@@thewatchman13 Vulture in the comics is way better than MCU's version. Comics Vulture is more ruthless, a better motive (cheated out of his life's work and what's what he feels he deserves, sort of a dark mirror to Peter) compared to the dumbass MCU version that has to ask neckbeard tinkerer to build his kree tech suit, and he is the first reappearing villain in Spider-Man.
I hope Malkovich is going to be Puppet Master. My second choice would be him reprising the role of Cyrus the Virus.

James Earl Jones has "played" Darth Vader for almost 50 years. Anyone can be in the green hoodie and iron mask, but Malkovich can provide his iconic angry rage voice in a comfy sound booth.

As someone who saw The Northmen, I still have no idea who this actor is. Aside from that, these casting choices so far have been more misses than hits in my eyes.
Con Air, Being John Malkovich, In the Line of Fire and Red 1 (and 2) most memorable roles. He's good at playing crazy and bad.
I really wish we could get a good movie with the fantastic four but I have no faith anymore, I just want good stuff to be made
+1 for the Rounders recommendation. I saw that in the theater and keep going back to it every few years. The casting is great. Famke Jansenn did this right before playing Jean Grey in the first X-Men movie and she really made something cool out of a bit part.

What if he is Doom? In this little idea I just had, Doom was both a rival and a mentor to Richards but his time traveling/universe hoping project went wrong.
Say that the FF movie happens, they save the day, the celebrate, and all that good stuff. Reed, being the workaholic that he is working on a time traveling theory that he came up with, similar but not exactly the design that Tony did on Endgame. The crew comes to get him back to from his work, while Reed can only talk about his latest project while Johnny messes with it, making all of them not just jump in time together to our time and dimension.
Now the crew are in a strange yet similar world as theirs, we cut to Latveria to see someone watching a warning of a certain energy detected, the image revealing the FF, and we see a metal glove break the chair that it is resting on seeing an all tol familiar face back, stating that after X-amount of time he has come as well.
This movie lost me at Pedro Pascal. Adding in Silver Surf-her and it's a very hard pass.

I was thinking this, but I'm not sure if it's the best casting, but John M could be cast as the original Silver Surfer. It really depends if he has chemistry with the actor playing Shalla-Bal.
I just dont like Galactus being the main villain from the beginning. This is the FIRST Fantastic 4 movie of the MCU, why would they go as big as galactus? It becomes really hard to keeo going after you do a story about that.

I think Malkovich would be great as the Watcher (which would obviously be basically a voice role whoever plays him), and that Paul Walter Hauser, also cast in an unknown role would be a good Mole-Man.

I think Galactus as the villain is a desperation move. Marvel is so bad that they don't have the luxury to slowly build up FF to go against someone of that magnitude. That's why imo this casting is all over the place.

I think Galactus will be tied to the Celestials judgement of Earth from Eternals.. Malkovich will be Doom because they will need him to do a Latverian accent. They FF will start off in the 60s working with Hank Pym and Janet, and will be time-displaced to the current day.

I have A question for anyone on here; in my dc universe, supergirl and power girl are twins. They was sent to earth together But power girl’s ship landed first. What do you think ?

Power girl mainly kept A low profile for years but after convincing from my Creative character; she don the cape. She’s now apart of his harem.
I assume he'll be doing his Russian accent from Red and playing the Red Ghost so that Marvel can do their usual thing and have the heroes fight a basically evil version of themselves. In this case Res Ghost and the Apes.
The 1st Galactus was based on the version Warren Ellis created in the Ultimate Universe. So that did not come out of nowhere. Got read the Ultimate Galactus trilogy to see what I am referring too. It would seem pretty obvious that a "trilogy" leading up to Galactus vs the FF in the 3rd movie would be obvious. However what do we know as fans for decades. Malkovich could end up like the Bill Murray appearance in Ant-Man 3 or it could be something worthwhile like Robert Redford in Captain America Winter Soldier. Have wait and see. I see him playing Willie Lumpkin pretty easily. In any case I have little faith in this film right now from what I see. Maybe in the coming months things might indicate a better film, but not right now. Not at all. WTF20.

The way the MCU is goin to be doing this....God I hope I am wrong. So silver surfer arrives with Victor still human both reed and Victor study the board and the new tech. Victor gets curious and transmits to galactus once the surfer decides to betray galactus. Victor then gets imbued with the power cosmic in the third act and becomes the New herald of galactus.....reappearing for the secret wars. As the big bad that the avengers have to seek out old man thanos to aid in battling both galactus and doom...... Totally not comically accurate in the least but a possible thread they could adopt as Canon.
Okay. I admit, l would pay to see Malkovich simply sit on a stool and read a classic Lee/Kirby issue of FF, complete with sound effects. Throw in a dramatic reading of an original soapbox page, then l am there. But l still wouldn't pay for a marvel movie.

He could be Dr. Nathaniel Richards, Mister Fantastic's mad scientist father. He is actually the leader of the Fantastic Force, a darker, much more grim and gritty version of the Fantastic Four from an alternate universe, but he is also the direct, ancient ancestor of Kang the Conqueror who Kang was named after.
John Malkovich being the father of Dr. Reed Richards who is an unethical scientific genius inventor could be a good anti-hero who introduces dimension travel and time travel technology and genetic engineering weaponry. That could lead to the F.F. traveling to the Negative Zone, where they reveal the existences of Annihilus and Blastaar.

I haven’t really read any appearances of Dr. Nathaniel Richards after the initial Byrne story. Did they really make him unethical? Because in the John Byrne story the twist was that the unethical villain wasn’t him.
@@davidgantenbein9362 Nathaniel Richards is not evil. He is just very selfish. He is unprincipled and anarchistic in his attitude, and behavior. He is similar to the Chief (Dr. Niles Caulder) from the Doom Patrol from DC Comics. They are both very arrogant, with no sense of humility. They are not humble. But Dr. Nathaniel Richards is not crazy, or evil like Doctor Doom or the Mole Man. Those super-villains are insane sociopaths who are dangerously close to being psychotic.
@@incubustimelord5947 Then they changed him a lot since his appearance in John Byrne‘s run. In the original story he stumbled over a time line, where a big war nearly eradicated humanity and helped them to rebuild, spending the prime of his life on that, despite it not being his own timeline. The whole twist of the story was that people assumed he went evil/selfish, when in reality he just went old and got lied to by his wife. He wasn’t really arrogant nor selfish in that story at all.
@@davidgantenbein9362 Well, I know the details of his origin from Other-Earth was that he made a time machine and disappeared. Reed assumed that he had abandoned him and his mother. He was accidentally time traveling sideways instead of forwards and backwards in time. He wound up on Kang's Earth where there was never a Medieval Times. In that universe, in the time period of the Dark Ages and the Middle Ages, science and technology progressed without decline for a millennium. This made the 10th century A.D. similar to the 20th century. But during the period when the Renaissance should've happened, there was a colony made on the moon which eventually became it's own independent, sovereign nation separate from Earth. This caused tensions between the surface, which was more scientific and technological than the lunar colony, which was more militaristic.
By the time the 20th century came, a war between Earth and the moon broke out. The Earth scientists defeated the lunar soldiers but the conflict caused small chunks of the moon to break away and fall to the surface of the planet, causing massive, planetwide devastation. The world and Earth's moon were both damaged, causing the atmosphere, environment and gravity of Earth and its moon to become radically altered. This made the world similar to Barsoom from John Carter, Warlord of Mars. It was at this point when Dr. Nathaniel Richards had just happened to appear by mischance with his experimental time machine (which was damaged).
There, he remained, stuck and with no way to travel sideways again to Earth-616. So he was forced to stay in that other reality, marrying a princess of one of the ruling kingdoms in the area that would be the United States of America. He would have a son, and that half-brother of Reed Richards would begin the bloodline that would eventually lead to his direct, future descendant, Dr. Nathaniel Richards (named after his ancestor from 1,000 years ago) who would find on his family's property the old time machine that brought Nathaniel to Other-Earth, repair it and turn it into a much more advanced time-ship, and become the time traveling warlord king eventually called Kang, the Conqueror.
But upon meeting his father, Dr. Nathaniel Richards was already setting a new precedent in his life. He had an adopted daughter, Tara Richards, who would become the warrioress called Huntara, and the teenage Franklin Richards of another alternate universe called Psi-Lord as his adopted grandson. Along with the Inhuman Devlor who had the Terrigen mist-granted power to transform into a giant, ape-like creature with superhuman strength, agility, durability and stamina, he had formed a team of crime fighters called the Fantastic Force, who used their advanced technology, weaponry, and superhuman powers to become peacekeeping enforcers.
So while Reed was angry with his father, he accepted his predicament as it was all meant to be according to Kang. But Nathaniel was still very callous about it, not really seeing that Reed had a right to be angry with him. He was also very judgemental about Reed and his ability as a scientist, criticizing him every time he tried to discover or invent something new. No matter what, Reed would never be seen as good enough.
Dr. Nathaniel Richards is a brilliant scientist equal to that of his son, but unlike Reed, he doesn't have the compassion to compromise like his son does. He is co-operative, but when it comes to his genius, he doesn't like anyone questioning him, and he will never share in any scientific or technological achievement. Only he gets the sole credit because he truly believes that he is the smartest man in the world.

Part of the casting sounds good, and I do agree that Galactus shouldn't be the main villain, but what is the story going to be about?

I think it's because it's not OUR Galactus it's from the universe they're in hence the female silver surfer. The end of the movie they end up in the 616.
Thats Marvel is dead to me. Its plenty of books to read to 2010 after that downfall started.

Hollywood is simply committed to never doing The Fantastic Four properly. No super hero property has been as poorly handled. We will never get a fun and authentic adaption of F4, they are always throwing wrenches in the gears.

The only thing that interests me less than Marvel comics is the PC casting of these dumb movies. I appreciate your efforts, Wes, but casting is only based on behind-the-scene favors and debts. If they wrote these movies correctly, you could cast every one of these parts with complete unknowns and it would work. Marvel movies = yawn.
You know what. I don’t care anymore, after so many god awful shows and films I’m so done with the MCU. Let’s move on people, let’s stop giving it attention, because it’s mainstream now. The only way it will come back to its glory days is if the fad goes away and comes back.
