Ha, good stuff. I am not the only one then :) thanks mate. Just checked out some of your videos there. Nice stuff and I see the casting is going well now :)
@@MarcinKantor yh, thats why I like fly fishing as you need lots of practice and not many anglers have that patience to learn, thats why fly fishing is a big pleasure:) and kind of art :D
@@EUAngler fully agree with you there!! Catching fish is nice but a good cast is almost as good and super satisfying. Hearing that line ping against the reel.is very cool
Great effort mate congratulations 🎣 You should find an empty field and place some sort of target 🎯 like a hula hoop or a jumper anything that you can use to practice your casting and aim your fly at. Again we’ll done 👍🏼
cheers mate!! done some practice on a pitch, was getting a few strange looks haha. I am happy that recently the fly started flying at somewhat safe distance away from my ear, but you're right, the next to practice is precision. and would love a bit more distance too
@@MarcinKantor I can imagine what the people were thinking seeing you casting on the pitch haha 😂, That’s great you were able to get the practice in, the distance come eventually naturally.
The joys of fly fishing hahaha. Stupid really but getting so much satisfaction from just getting the cast right. Nice to see a big smile from catching a small fish. Haven't caught a pike on the fly but have had carp up to12Lb that's fun.
Let's have this conversation in a year or two 😅😅 it's great tho, when you become proficient in something it's a completely different experience. Enjoying this a lot now 🎣🎣
Happy days well done on catching your first pike on the fly. I have been doing a bit myself over the last years, and catching a good few, but with my trout rod, not ideal. So today I got a proper #9 fly set up. I can't wait to get out and use it. Your next target must be bass and sea trout on the fly?
Great stuff Gary, all the best with that setup. I've managed to take out mine a bit more since the video and even caught a few crackers 😉 tried for bass once last season, but need to get my casting better first really. I am guessing this setup might be a bit too heavy for trout...
Do a lot of canal fly fishing for pike and still get some days like that. I overline my rod by one or two sizes that way I can get it out with just one back cast and a double haul.
@@MarcinKantor I use an 8ft seven weight with an eight weight clear intermediate on it. It’s good for flies up to about 6inches though to be honest I’m mostly chucking 2-3 inch flies as it’s full of small roach. I can usually get it across the canal with one backcast and a double haul so can do it quickly between passers by.
I saw you fly casting in a belly boat on another video and you look great. I can't believe how good your casting has gotten in such a short time. Did you have a lesson?
well, it couldn't have got any worse haha Thanks a lot Tomas, some casts start to click in timing wise - very satisfying when they do :) I did have one lesson at the very start with Keith McDonnell, he's a great lad
Really hope you stick with fly fishing it is the most fun fishing you can have whether your catching or not. It’s the only fishing discipline that rewards technique as casting is like perfecting a golf shot it’s not just practice it also about good instruction to help improve. Just wait and you will soon be casting underneath overhanging branches and flipping your leader around tree stumps with perfect line lay. A perfect cast and take is a thing of beauty, fly fishing is a zen like experience, catching is a bonus 😊
thanks a lot for that comment. Brilliant! only a few lines and I can see your passion to this sport. I am getting slowly better (you might correct me if you saw my newer videos), but for now is into the branches and right into the tree stump 😂😂 I am loving it though
@@MarcinKantor lol in the last 40 plus years I have caught my share of tree’s and stumps, not mentioning the number of times I’ve fallen in either 😂. My last impromptu swim was while returning a Pike caused by middle age spread shifting my weight forward, luckily I managed to style it out 😊
@@MarcinKantor once you've had a few sessions with a stiff breeze, you will be the owner of two fly rods...the other been a 10 weight of greater :))) see you in 2021 when i get home !
