- Reach, the epicenter of the UNSC, is now under the threat of Covenant invasion. If Reach falls, the Covenant empire will be right on Earth's doorstep and humanity's total annihilation will be imminent. The only thing standing between them and us is a brave team of Spartan super-soldiers--Noble Team--and Reach's most heavily guarded secret.
This was played on HEROIC difficulty from start to finish. This is not intended to be a guide at all, but rather a theatrical production--how I believe the scenario might have actually played out in a real-world scenario.

The Master Chief is such a badass. I love the Halo games. As a 45 yr old man perhaps my twitch reflexes aren't as finely tuned as some of you young guys but I do pretty well and enjoy the hell out of this whole series.

Not 6 years yet it came out in September.
I was still in high school when reach came out. Now 7 years later I learned more about the Spartan 3 program and the children who participated in it.
Watching the ending of this game really drives home the tragic fate most of the Spartan 3's were destined for. And Noble Six perfectly sums up their tragedy.
With no family and their homes turned to glass they were given the strength to bring death to the aliens who brought them suffering. With Emile dead and no one left to man the gun Noble Six takes his place with no hesitation. In the end he became another Spartan 3 soldier who completed a mission, which if they succeeded would lead to their death. There would be no medals for victory, no honor guard for a funeral. Only the knowledge that Noble Six would die, and the 117 would use their death to defeat the Covenant.
Halo: Reach for me has become the story of the tragedy of the Spartan 3's. They would achieve no fame like the Master Chief did. Never see the peace their actions helped forge. All they had was their pain. And their sole purpose was to send it back into the hearts of the covenant.

Enjoyed all of the Halo games but oddly enough this is by far my favorite Halo.
I poured more hours into this campaign and multiplayer than any Halo to date. Can't give a reason why really since i know people dislike this one but it's my personal favorite.

yeah me too, at the moment that is. i used to play halo when i was little, and i recently got the master chief collection so i could revisit it. a couple weeks ago i finished halo reach and started on combat evolved. i havent played the whole game yet, but so far, it really hasnt been as good as halo reach. halo reach was truly a great experience. i dont easily get immersed in games, but halo reach was different. i genuinely felt sad when the other spartans died

I would really like it if 343 used this art style instead on the current one they have for Halo 4 and 5. The current art style is so ugly and bland it is just like any other generic sci-fi game only more plastic like.
+RektMacht Magic Yea. I don't know why 343 find it so hard to just respect the old art style. I love the online (for the most part) but I can only play for about 40 minutes at most before I get sick and tired of the how everything looks (especially the pormethians). I swear they can fix all of this by just going on RUclips and watching some videos on how bad they messed up for about 30 min and maybe talk to someone who knows about the series and knows whats good like the guy from Halo Follower or The Act Man. Someone like that.

Bungie broke off and developed Destiny, that's why the style of the original Halos plays in Destiny are very similar.
Bungie made this halo to give a back story to halo there were originally supposed to be 3 halos. Then 343 started taking over the making of the halo games.

It's so hard to watch this gameplay because of the overcautious play style. I know of literally no one worth their salt who plays Halo like this.
I am very new to halo, and when i got to the mission right before the spire, i rush in and kill all of the enimies quickly and efficently. He just camped on some cliff edge shooting a grenade luancher every once and a while. Seems pretty cowardice to me.
Just wanna say how grateful I am for these videos. I suck at the game (and I don't even own an xbox) so these videos are perfect. These videos really help fill in some gaps between reading the books so thank you, Tyrant for making these!

Hmmm, I can tell that MythicTyrant really enjoys using Covenant weapons and vehicles. Personally I much prefer UNSC weapons and vehicles, but MythicTyrant really knows how to use the Covenant technology far better than I can! My only preferred weapon and vehicle from the Covenant forces would be the Ghost and the Energy Sword

you know those of you discussing reach are right i think. they went all out for halo3. And then i am not so sure what happens with the next bunch of halo games...Reach was it for me...Its enough.
For me, that was the turning point as well. Part of me feels like Bungie self-sabotaged themselves with Reach intentionally to make the transition to 343i easier amongst fans.
you made a great effort to do this video event. you were brave to try for such ambition. you knew there would be those who try to slam yer efforts...or officers who will just send you back to REACH to do more recon patrols....alone...

Both are equally good. They just have different tones. 3 was possibly the best ending the mainline series cenered around Chief could have had, while Reach is a lot more tragic.

anyone realize this game is 0% connected with the book. just finished the book.
Yeah, that's my one gripe with the game, is that it went totally against the storyline set up in the book about Halsey not even knowing about the Spartan-III's until much later in the series. And here she seems quite comfortable with the concept, though she clearly prefers her II's like Jorge. Other than that, this is my favourite in the series (though I haven't played 4 yet).

The book was commissioned by microsoft and was unconnected to Bungie, who have authority over the lore of their series (or at least did until 343i took over).
The game and the book are both canon and don't mess with the story just small errors though

This is my fourth or fifth time coming back to this video, possibly because it was where halo begun it's decline, possibly because I do truly love that it captures the slosh and dread of the hc war, or possibly because it's actually a really clever game.
but overall, i think that it's the fact that there's so much that can easily be missed if you're not listening closely that draws me back to this particular video.

one of my favorite campaigns! it had unique missions like the space one, the sniper one, and i really liked that mission when the human army goes against the aliens (excuse my lack of proper terms im a new halo fan). Though im very confused on the foundations of halo. How did the war start, was reach the first to get attacked in the war. How can a planet with the best soldiers die but earth doesnt and earths army wasnt nearly as good as reaches right? idk im sorry if i sound stupid, i just have alot of questions about the story that i hope some one will take the time to explain to me. anyway i think halo is a great game! the best campaign i have ever played!
I can give you a pretty good idea of how it all happened. And it's fine, the Halo series has a pretty rich history that isn't limited to the games. The war started when the Covenant attacked humanity on planet Harvest about 25 years before the events of this game/the novel "Fall of Reach". The first super soldiers humanity created were part of the Orion project and were originally made to quell human rebellion in Earth's outer colonies. The project was ultimately abandoned due to inconsistent outcomes (ie psychological damage, instability in subjects etc) that ultimately resulted in many of the super-soldiers receiving medical discharges.
Enter Catherine Halsey, who made an appearance in this game, some years later. She resurrected the orion project and spearheaded the process of determining suitable candidates (turns out the most suitable candidates were children no older than six years old). They created renamed the project Spartan-II to set it apart from the failure of the Orion project and began project MJOLNIR, which set out to supply the Spartans with advanced body armor. Noble Team is comprised mainly of Spartan-III's, the only exception being Jorge who was one of the original Spartan-II's
The context, at this point, for creating super-soldiers is still to quell human rebellion until the Covenant attack on Harvest when the war started. The original Spartan-II's were insanely efficient against them but also insanely expensive. they had planned to make 150 originally but because of funding they could only make 75. Out of those 75, 45 survived the augmentation processes. Of the 45 that survived, 12 were crippled or left with debilitating conditions. So the UNSC, for all its spending, had 33 super-soldiers to show for it and I can think of at least one who died on a first contact mission in the book "Fall of Reach"
Basically the Spartan-III's weren't meant to be a long term solution. They were made from orphans of war, they were cheap and viewed as expendable so that the UNSC could simply buy time in a war they were losing. At the time of this game, a last-ditch effort was about to be mounted to abduct a member of Covenant leadership and negotiate a truce using the Spartan-II's including Master Chief and Cortana, the main characters of the main games. The mortality rate of the Spartan-III's, because they were almost always sent on suicide missions, hovered just below a 100%
It's true that Reach was incredibly well-fortified and had almost every Spartan present on its surface at the time of this attack, including Master Chief who I believe is subtly mentioned in the cutscene after the New Alexandria mission (Jun says something about several teams of Spartans deployments to Carter, Chief was a member of Blue Team). Almost every Spartan died in this attack on Reach and there was hardly anything left to defend Earth. I can't really explain to you why Earth survived after this without revealing major plot details, particularly ones that occur in Halo 2 and Halo 3

I was a freshman in college when this came out. Me and my roommate bought this and played multiplayer campaign all the way through no breaks. Funny how I now play games 12 hours no break like it’s no big deal lol
