+DarkVampire Equestrian Totally! I agree with my all! It's such an awesome piece of work, plus the song entirely is great and well matched with the video.
i could never fit the song into better theater. Although I have great imagination, this video gave me the heebeegeebees. The song itself touched me to the bones.
My favorite lyrics in this song are "I don't wanna be saved, I don't wanna be sober, I want you on my mind" and also "I could fight this till the end but maybe I don't wanna win". So powerful and relatable in that we have all loved someone that we knew wasn't good for us but we stayed anyway. Just an incredible and deep song!!
Shinedown and Halestorm should make music together. intense, deep, thought provoking, beautiful vocals, haunting voices and sound. that would be amazing....
As a survivor of DV with a failed attempt from him to poison me. I definitely can relate. My cat alerted me as I felt my heart beating erratically too. Thanks to God and Alka Seltzer I'm alive today
I need to share a touching story about this video. I was visiting with my daughter and granddaughters a while back. I was watching this video on my phone for the umpteenth time. One of my granddaughters (4 at the time) was having nightmares nearly every night. She has an interest in dark things, future metal head maybe? She asked to watch the video that grandpa was watching. I explained to her that it is a really sad song. So we watched it together. She asked lots of questions about the blood and why the pretty lady was floating in the water. So I explained to her that the lady's bad husband poisoned her lipstick and she died. The police found out and they put him in jail. She was so sad that the lady died. I explained that it was just a song and the lady was named Lzzy and was just pretending in order to tell the story. I then showed her Shatter Me that was made after this song. A few months later, she took up the violin, met Lindsey Stirling and got her violin signed. Awesome! Now every time I visit one of the first things she does is ask me if she can watch "The Sad Song" followed by Shatter Me of course. Best part is she now knows the bad dreams she was having were pretend too and she stopped having nightmares every night. Thank you Lzzy for changing the life of a little girl that knows she is not weird or strange for liking dark things.
Mike Whitenton Good that you recognize she has a dark side and instead of hate her or scorn her you embrace it wish my family had been half as understanding as you growing up. I was treated like the anti christ from day 1 to today on my dads side. Pretty much disowned them all now lost half my family simply because they cannot accept I have different beliefs and I have a dark side, doesn't mean I'm a sick twisted evil bastard. But try telling them that, like so many other ppl I know they judge by nothing but appearance. Good for you man she will always feel better having you in her life that's a very sweet story.
Mike Whitenton I've read this story multiple times -- every time I watch this video, in fact -- and it still has me feeling some kind of way. Lzzy is truly a role model for the ages, and your granddaughter is DEFINITELY on the right track!

Wow they been around forever 14 her brother(drums) 9 when they first played at a festival in philly they came up w name of band on the way there. Glad u found them. Check out shattered its lzzy singing w lindsey stirling playn violin w dubstep so cool
She says the first three poisons at perfect squares: 11^2 = 1:21 15^2 = 2:25 18^2 = 3:24. And her last poison is said at 216 seconds. 216 seconds = 6*6*6. 3:36
Lzzy is an amazing singer, seriously mind blowing how great of a female metal singer she is. But, she can still hit high notes. You don't see great bands like these anymore. Miss you guys!
I have a poem that has a similar message to this song. But instead of using poison I use fire. No matter how enticing it may seem, how beautiful it is, it always has an allure to it. And it always burns. The imagery of this song speaks to me for this reason. Stay thirsty, my friends.
The lyrics in this really gets to me, really describes my problem with alcohol! And lzzys vocals vibrates into my bones. Such a talented and awesome band
Heck, I never interpreted the song that way. It just so happens that my whiskey ran out last night. Today has been a struggle! I didn't realize that it had such a hold on me.
+Huu John If you say so, this particular song seems to have similar substance to the songs of 'any pop chick making it big' by which I mean little to none.
+Huu John She has a band and can play guitar has talent and can sing I see is soft on the eye to boot She isn't a Karaoke singer like half these " artists" are. imho ofc.
Was just listening to this on Octane, had to youtube-it! Lzzy Hale rocks! The music is great and the vocals rip at your heart, just the way a great song of any genre should. But Lzzy takes it to the next level.
I must admit, putting poison on the lipstick rather than the food was rather smart. Such a shame he completely forgot that poison is typically very easy to trace in the body.
this relates to November rain in the sense that its both soft and powerful. although November rain is considered the musical demonstration of Gn'R breaking up. Hopefully Halestorm wont have to demonstrate a break up. all in all I agree with your comment. "Fuck I Love This Band" ;) but Guns N' Roses is my all time favorite!! (the old one ;) )
I'm a big fan of Evanescence myself! but growing up in the 80's I have a strong affection for bands of that era and Halestorm seems to pay homage to them in A LOT of their music ie; why I love them sooo much!!! LOL
Yes I agreed both are beautiful.... But if you watch "going under" and "sober" by evenesence the videos have very similar scenes ... Which means she's taken inspiration from Amy Lee ..... Let's say I'm impressed 😋😃😄
I'm slowly working through the Halestorm videos on you tube. I'm say slow because they are amazing and I just need to watch the videos over and over again. This song is one of the best rock songs I've ever heard
These days, this kind of song goes more with We Are The Fallen. "Evanescence" is now Amy Lee and a new band. Ben M and the rest of the old band picked up Carly Smithson for WATF and they sound much more like the original Evanescence.
Very few singers can convey… The human condition....with such eloquence. “the characteristics, key events, and situations which compose the essentials of human existence, such as birth, growth, emotionality, aspiration, conflict, and mortality" Hearing you harmonize with yourself is fucking Magical! I LOVE YOU LZZY
It's always so strangely beautiful to hear singers who scream the lyrics to songs like "Freak Like Me" and "Daughters of Darkness" singing mellow, slow, and haunting melodies like this song. Well done Lizzy. I think this may be my favorite track on your album.
I've been aware of this band for a while but never given them any airtime. Now that I have, I'm slightly obsessed. Lzzy looks like she could finally be the rock icon that this century has been looking for
Halestorm is coming to my local arena next week! I'm beyond excited to see my favorite rocker! Lzzy is so beautiful and has an amazing voice. She gives her songs emotion, that people can relate too. My hubby won us tickets to see her, so now my fingers are crossed that the tickets get upgraded to MEET AND GREET!!! :) Wish me luck!
When I first watched this i was only a casual fan, it’s been years and now I’m hardcore obsessed and find it so hilarious that josh played the role of the killer given his chill personality irl lolllll
Lizzy Hale's voice is absolutely mesmerizing. Going through a bad patch at the moment, and can't quit listening to this. This song has been a lovely-voiced and much-needed anchor...
I don't think I can add anything that others haven't already said about how phenomenal this song is. Lzzy is amazing on ballads and rocking out. But I can't let this go without also mentioning the set pieces, costumes, and makeup were on point. It doesn't look like a music video. It looks like it's a mini movie. Those kind of details just take an already great song and elevate it to new levels. Now I'm going to be singing this all night and I'll do it with a smile on my face.
Amaretto Punsch, I love that film. Gene Tierney was stunning. I’m not a Dana Andrews fan, but he was good in the film. The whole cast did a great job, Clifton Webb and Vincent Price in particular. Leave Her To Heaven shows a different side of Tierney’s acting skills.
I love this video. I honestly wouldn't mind watching this as a full-fledged movie or an episode of some detective series. Would make for an awesome story with the poisoned lipstick and the background history that is only hinted at throughout the song!
This song is criminally underrated. This is the song that opened me up to the power of Lzzy's voice and I can not get enough of it.
Their best song, imho.
Still here in 2024 halestorm will never get old, so underrated bring back so many memories!❤️
How this music video didn’t win a ton of awards is RIDICULOUS!
She’s fabulous and doesn’t get the respect and attention she absolutely deserves
i know this song is old, but it seems quite underrated and i think it needs more recognition, its such an amazing track.
I wish they'd played it live.
So True
@@beachgirl4583 ruclips.net/video/VSJ9N-aCUOE/видео.html Sorry to necro, but just read this and it's so good live.

Most underrated Halestorm song IMO
Brings me back to where I was when this came out ...oh but that familiar taste of poi son
it reminds me of the girl that killed me, listen to this back to back with "half god half devil" from in this moment
Yes
Yes this one and What Sober Couldn’t Say. 🥰
i don't want this song to get famous. let it be known among a small circle of people who truly appreciate this masterpiece.

Little late for that.

"Drink the wine, my darling" you said
"Take your time, and consume all of it"
But the roses
Were only to drain my inspiration
The promises
Were spoiled before they left your lips and
I breathe you in again
Just to feel you
Underneath my skin
Holding on to
The sweet escape
Is always laced with a
Familiar taste
Of poison
I tell myself
That you're no good for me
I wish you well (wish you well)
But desire never leaves
I could fight this 'til the end
But maybe I don't wanna win
I breathe you in again
Just to feel you
Underneath my skin
Holding on to
The sweet escape
Is always laced with a
Familiar taste of poison
I don't wanna be saved
I don't wanna be sober
I want you on my mind
In my dreams
Behind these eyes
And I won't wake up
No, not this time
I breathe you in again
Just to feel you
Underneath my skin
Holding on to
The sweet escape
Is always laced with a
Familiar taste of poison
A familiar taste of poison
A familiar taste
Of poison
Thanks so much 😊
The most powerfull lyric in this song for me must be ....
"I could fight this till the end, but maybe I don`t wanna win? "
.......
my favorite line
to me, its the whole second verse....speaks volumes
This lyric is really close to snuff. It took the death of hope to let you go...
It's the chorus lyrics for me. Brilliant.
you need to use that director again because that is awesome

Who's still rocking out to this in 2024 are any halestorm songs can't start my day without my halestorm playlist
This is a bloody masterpiece. The song, the video, the acting, the plot - it's all perfect.
i love how alluring and ominous she sounds in this song! this has to be my favorite halestorm song yet!
Agreed, except I think this is Halestorm doing an Evanescence song, and Lzzy doing an awesome tribute to her BFF Amy Lee.
Mark Stockman no this one halestorm song but it was most likely influenced
by Amy lee
You can obviously tell it is inspired by evanescence by the way she's underwater.
Amy lee did that similar effect in her video/song "going under."
Angelina Cucchi you need to see the video for that? the vibe of the music itself is alrdy sceaming evanescence
Angelina Cucchi uhmm actually dave mustaine it did it first on the clip of go to hell
"i could fight this till the end
but maybe i dont wanna win"
Ive lost count of how many times Ive replayed this song.

God damn it, It's always the Bassist!!!!

Halestorm is 100 times better than any pop chick making it big! Please explain why???
Because the members of Halestorm are no stupid puppets of their record label and make the music they want. Unlike many pop chicks...
+Huu John Because each member has immense talent and they don't rely on flaunting tits to make a quick buck.

I must admit, putting poison on the lipstick rather than the food was rather smart.
Such a shame he completely forgot that poison is typically very easy to trace in the body.
A shame?
depends on what the poison is, you take a a certain flower grind the bulb up feed it to a person as it's not traceable. It's a common flower too.
@@phantomblade89 Nightshade?
