Try the Transformers sound effects from the old show and then the new Transforming sound from modern movie. Those have been by smartphone notification sounds for a while.
It would be nice to tell us what year model can do all that. For some reason none of you Tesla owners mention the year of the Tesla that can or can’t do on the infotainment system
So iv been told this a few times and I did some googling. Older cars didn't have the boom box speaker. They became law in 2020 for pedestrian safety, and some cars in 2019 got this feature but not all. So if your car is older you may not have gotten it
The file size is 1MB but you can make a super long file and then shrink the large file size with Zamzar. My file was 1.5MB, then I compressed it which brought it to 450kb and it works flawlessly and sounds great.
The file name for the sound clip that the tesla can read, I can't recall the name right now but you need to have it as that name, but if you want to change it you can just rename your files to change them
You can only have one file named for it at a time. So you have to change the names of the files to change them. I just use my phone if I want to do that. It's kinda annoying. Hopefully they add more then 1 in the future
I did some Googling, if your car is before they added the outside speaker then you won't have it. The outside speaker for pedestrian alerting was made law in 2020. So older cars may not have had it yet.
@ yea. I’ve seen so many people do different methods. Reformatting the whole USB. Partitioning. I have it working for teslacam, but I converted the file to wav and changed the name to what is stated and whenever I plug it in and go to usb I get the error that I need a file
@@JakeBlackstaffe How? I have PreRefresh MX and I am on the latest SW with FSD. I have no option like yours, I have no USB glovebox port, and if I search lock or sounds nothing but turn on or off.
@Pure3nrg in your setting when you look at patch notes from the last update you did is it states that it is in there? From my understanding all teslas with this Christmas update should have access to this feature
What sounds would you use?
Portal sentry mode activated is my tone for now.
@LaJuanHughes great choice!
LMAO the windows one is such a great choice 😂😂😂
Right? Hah 🤣
I also have the windows shutdown one but thinking of merging it with the windows error: windows shutdown + error as the lock sound 😂
That would be pretty good hah
That’s cool. The possibilities are endless lol
Right? I'm still trying to find the perfect sound for it haha
and I'm a dj I'm about to go crazy with this!!!
Right now I'm using "Hasta La Vista, Baby" uttered by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2.
Hahah that's awesome! Even "I'll be back" would be great
Try the Transformers sound effects from the old show and then the new Transforming sound from modern movie. Those have been by smartphone notification sounds for a while.
Ya that would be cool!
Mine is Squidward saying "Don't go" in a sad voice from the Spongebob episode where the smell from krabby patty kisses his noise and disappears.
Haha that's great!
How do I add multiple
I'm not sure. I assume the wiring will let you do all them and you just add them as you go
From my experience, when using a Windows computer, I had to save the file as LockChime and omit the .wav
Ya I saw that online too. Asking as it works! Hah
I definitely would add the windows start up and shut down @ for lock and unlock
It's a good choice
Is there an unlock sound as well?
I though only a lock sound!
@Traveling_Texas_in_a_Tesla I think only lock
It would be nice to tell us what year model can do all that. For some reason none of you Tesla owners mention the year of the Tesla that can or can’t do on the infotainment system
Ya there is no set year. It's as long as you have the boom box in your car, which they started putting in around 2020, but some got it and some didn't
is there a file format I need to label this on the USB stick?
Yes. If you look on your tesla when where you can select the sounds there is an info thing that tells you what to name it.
Legit spit out my coffee when you played the Windows wav 😂
Haha you like that eh haha
The scanner sound from K.I.T.T.
My 22 model 3 LR doesn't have a usb stick in the glovebox, I cant find mine
That's very strange! You should get one right away so your centry mode works!
@@JakeBlackstaffe Theres no spot to put it! I have no usb slot! At least that I can find, it's not in the glovebox
@Vriess123 there must ne, from my understanding all teslas have a usb in the glocd box for century mode
@@JakeBlackstaffe I've looked multiple times, I may have to ask tesla service when I go
Ya definitely! That's very weird
Can do the same for any vehicle??
Can't find it anywhere on the Inet....
like any tesla? ya if it has the boom box feature
Where can I get the adapter for an iPhone?
I'm sure you can get a lighting to usb adaptor on Amazon
@@JakeBlackstaffe thanks! I was able to figure out how to transfer the wav file onto the usb drive from my laptop! love the lightsaber chime!
@Capo_nico oh perfect!
I did this to mine but now when I unlock the car it doesn’t make any noise at all is there a way to fix that?
Mine also doesn't do an unlock sound too. I can't remember if there was one before haha
Can you change the "Unlock" sound (if there is one) mine doesn't make any noise when unlocking
no i dont think so, i also dont have one too.
Hello. I want to know the whistle sound.
It's the old spice deodorant jingle
So only one custom sound at a time?
Ya sadly. Not sure why they made that choice. Hopefully they update it for more in the future
Nice one Jake.
Thanks!
Doesn’t work. Do I need the .wav and is it ok if it’s made in a Mac not a pc ?
You can use Mac or pc, just have to have the file the exact right name and smaller then the size it says on the tesla screen
Can I put multiple on the usb drive so I can switch between what I want on a certain day?
Sadly no you can only have 1 files at a time.
Do you have to format the usb drive first?
If your just using the one that is already in the car, you do not need to format it.
My software is up-to-date but this feature isn’t showing in my boombox. Help!!
So iv been told this a few times and I did some googling. Older cars didn't have the boom box speaker. They became law in 2020 for pedestrian safety, and some cars in 2019 got this feature but not all. So if your car is older you may not have gotten it
Unfortunately, I think those of us with cars built before the external speakers came out are out of luck.
Tesla should at least give the pre boom box some sound options instead of that boring honk
@drumstix33 agreed!
Can you get this on a 2019 model 3?
If your car has the boombox feature
Can i plug my phone in usb-c directly into my tesla to transfer the file in the 2024 model y?
No, you need to have the file on the USB stick that is in your glove box for this to work
What years does this support? Can I do this in my 2018 model 3?
If your car is equipped with the boom box then yes, I'm not 100% sure when they started adding them
Is there a limit to the length of the audio?
Just file size, the tesla notes in the car tell you how big, I can't remember off the top of my head
thank you!@@JakeBlackstaffe
The file size is 1MB but you can make a super long file and then shrink the large file size with Zamzar. My file was 1.5MB, then I compressed it which brought it to 450kb and it works flawlessly and sounds great.
I picked the Oblivion movie drone sounds!
That's a good call
@@JakeBlackstaffe Specifically the drone acknowledgement sound! Zedge has it.
can you only have one sound?
Sadly yes only one sound st a time. You need to change the file every time you want to try another one
This work thru iPhone too?
I'm not sure with iphones since I don't have one, but if there is a file manager then you should be able too
I vote for Old Spice! 🎉😂
That's a good call! Hah
Can you have more than one sound on the usb or do you have delete one a sound then put another?
You can only have one file named for it. What I did is renamed the files when I wanted to change them. It's a big of a pain but it does work
@@JakeBlackstaffewhat do you mean changing the name? Can you elaborate that more?
The file name for the sound clip that the tesla can read, I can't recall the name right now but you need to have it as that name, but if you want to change it you can just rename your files to change them
Is there a limit to how many sounds you can have & use on the USB? Can you toggle through them and make changes

Thank you very much.
Where on your phone are u getting these sounds?
I got them from a reddit post I just searched for it
I don't have boombox in my toybox what do I need to do ?
Do you have the most recent update installed?
@@JakeBlackstaffe yes I believe so, I have it on advanced. I have a 2021 LR model maybe it doesn't come with it ?
@dmoreland2138 from my understanding all teslas should have it if your on the latest update
@@JakeBlackstaffe I've checked no boombox in here.

There no boombox anymore 🤔 it’s not on my model 3 2019
Dang you just missed out! I think 2020 is when they started adding it
I’ve done all of the steps, but my tesla just won’t see the file. I’m using the tesla stick.
Hmm iv it's not seeing the file you need to make sure it's named 100% correctly
I’ve found it, leave out the .wav from the filename.
Oh good! What sound you go with?
@@JakeBlackstaffeWindows xp shutdown for now.
@sjoepsjoep7293 hah classic! 🤣
I dont get it. I literally followed so many steps and my car doesnt stop giving me the error. Everything is wav file and everything below 1MB

They changed the ability to ACTUALLY hear it. 😂
This is true! Hah
Beam me up scotty sound
That's a good one!
Buying a car so I can use a custom sound.
This looks nothing like my 2019 Tesla Model X. So many videos say Tesla when they need to say Model# and year.
This video on changing lock sounds works for all teslas! So should work for your model x :)

Right? They did it for the horn when parked. You can have 5
