I agree!! I just recently discovered this channel, and already I'm hooked. The Jumanji board he made was a work of art!! But, everything he makes is a work of art! I can't believe the level of detail.
It has a wash on it, but it's applied so evenly that it muddies details instead of highlighting them. When I first took 320 grit sandpaper to the top and it knocked off the high-points it actually started to look pretty cool as it's own plain wood look. Which was probably the original intended look, but y'know; mass production.
It is not so much that people who make it don’t bother, but more so that their employers don’t want to spend money. Reasonably too, since this is meant to be an affordable toy and not some expensive collectible item.
I like how you didn’t just paint over it and make it look new, you put in the effort to make it look like the material you painted on was real wood, and also had worn a bit over time. I can tell you tried to give the effect of how paint looks when it chips and fades on wood. Very good !
Bury it somewhere or throw it to the sea. This thing haunted my whole childhood after my dad bought a fake one and i spent endless nights worrying that it might start the drum noises in the wardrobe
That would be cool, not worrying °J° ... Except if you can actually die in that game. I'm not sure if the movie ever went to say if that is possible (considering the whole time travel stuff at the end).
@@BestAnimeFreak you can. Judy got hit with the poison darts plant and its implied its lethal according to alan. Although i think the game being all magic it knows it cant kill every player otherwise no one would win and itll be stuck in limbo.
Honestly, looking at the toy board. It looked like it was unfinished and got rushed on after the movie came out. Your repainted of the board look's amazing!!! It looks alot like the board game from the movie 😊👌
Do you listen to that same Jumani tune on repeat while you work? For some reason I can just picture you doing that and it’s awesome. The first Jumanji board you did is why I subscribed. Your attention to detail is amazing.
We've gotta give some appreciation to the artist who made the original carvings for the box design. It's that craftsmanship that makes the beautiful painting work as well as it does.
As a HUGE fan of the Jumanji movie from the 90's, I admire the dedication this took, & would love to have one that looked like this one day to add to my already-growing Jumanji collection
Wow wow wow, the end result really blew me away. It's amazing what a bit of paint can do. This video was really satisfying to watch and bought back some nostalgia. Thanks.
Was looking at this board game today, and thought it was pricy for how plain it looked, if it looked even half as good as this I could justify the $65.
you mean you would only pay 65 dollars for this paint job? hell no. it's why it's not intricately painted like this in the first place. the employees that would be painting these toys (which are mass produced mind you) with this much detail would be so underpaid to have it priced at only $65 after so much time and effort spent on each item.
@@jinri_p1042 re read the sentence, I said half as good, the finished product that was mass produced could have atleast put some detail on it, even just outlining so it doesn't look so plain. Obviously I'd pay for more for that particular board but you gotta admit, the base product looked pretty pathetic for that price tag, fyi, 65 Canadian is around 80 American.
@@alarmedllama5910 I looked up the game after watching the video and it was around $35, but I think it might have been an Amazon prime deal. Anything that has molded details looks like it's begging to be painted
This is amazing looking. Im so happy u decided to repaint the hunk of plastic to be more authentic to the real thing. The moment when this board was most likely made over seas and couldve been painted for pennies more but the manufacture gave people this unfinished product honestly. The most iconic part of the board game and they lamed out and didnt paint it
I'm not saying that it's not a beautiful work that you just did there BUT I will never forget to this day the incredible work you did on your wooden Jumanji board, that was a masterpiece 👏👏👏
Whenever I see something with the detail like this has, I think about how it'd look better painted. This one has little dice on the front and different images in the corners than your original.
Cant understand how the producers made such a nice detailed 3d print and than just didnt colorized it really looked unfinished and like cheap plasic now after youre awsome recoloring it really looks like wood and so much better love it
“Don’t be fooled, it isn’t thunder staying put would be a blunder” “RUN, ITS A STAMPED!!!” “Sorry Angus” “In the jungle you must wait until the dices reads five or eight” “A hunter from the darkness wild, makes you feel just like a child” “Van pelt!” “You’re almost there with much at stake, but now the ground begins to quake” I loved the game and the movie! :) You did a fantastic job painting the game! You brought it to life! I’m always amazed by your work!
I will totally pay for this! I have the original cardboard game but really liked this updated one......except for the unfinished look due to not painting it. But I would totally go out and buy one to have you or someone else paint it like this! The only thing I would want is a more easily accessible battery door for changing the batteries.
Outstanding painting... they had everything you needed but just never bothered to paint all those nice sculptural forms. Makes you want to buy it just to bring it up to its potential. That said... Possibly include a way to change the batteries? I mean, maybe the mechanism was dead in which case it doesn't matter, but if it's working, wouldn't you want a way to access the battery case? A lil notch to pull out the board or something?
That is definitely a better idea than the "wedge a chisel in between the plastic and wood to open the back" one that I went with. lol. It just looks so clean without a notch.
Absolutely love it like usual. It would be cool if for the marvel zombies show that just got announced that you could make a zombie thanos or something. I loved the zombie captain america you made. Keep up the great work
Lovely to see a mass produced item given that original handmade look.
That original jumanji board you made is one of the most incredible things ever.
That was actually my first ever video I watched from this channel, and I'm so glad I did. The content is just so amazing!
I 2nd that!
I agree!! I just recently discovered this channel, and already I'm hooked. The Jumanji board he made was a work of art!! But, everything he makes is a work of art! I can't believe the level of detail.
That belongs in a museum
Before you painted the board game it looked so unfinished like the people who made it didn't even bother. But now it looks so brilliant.
Exactly what I was think!

When I first took 320 grit sandpaper to the top and it knocked off the high-points it actually started to look pretty cool as it's own plain wood look. Which was probably the original intended look, but y'know; mass production.
Painting an embossed surface like this at that time probably could cost more than the production cost
It is not so much that people who make it don’t bother, but more so that their employers don’t want to spend money.
Reasonably too, since this is meant to be an affordable toy and not some expensive collectible item.
Not that they don't bother. They probably don't get paid enough or work more than 8+ hours. Idk, not sure.

I cry everytime I think about Robin Williams, such a great person and actor.
He was really nice, only celebrity I ever met.
It would be amazing if you bring more videos repairing more toys
I would also love more toys being enhanced like this.
Agreed
I always do a quick toy aisle peek and look for potential candidates when I'm at Target.
I've always wanted to do this! I alway contemplate grabbing one of the games every time I pass it in a store. You did an awesome job with it!
Holy smokes, even just the darker brown made it pop and that was before the painting happened on the front. Great video as always
Do you listen to that same Jumani tune on repeat while you work? For some reason I can just picture you doing that and it’s awesome. The first Jumanji board you did is why I subscribed. Your attention to detail is amazing.
I definitely did a lot of drumming on the table while I was working on this. lol
amazing paint work, and really smart to finish the back off. Always have a great time watching you work!
This is a REALLY nice repaint! It makes a great decorative piece.

So happy to have found this. Just bought one yesterday and I was planning on doing the same. Great work on it 👍👍❤️❤️

What a beautiful job! You are truly talented.
Это великолепная работа. Купила дочке в подарок эту игру, теперь вы меня вдохновили на её кастом)
I saw the movie with Robin Williams in it in the theatres back in 1995, I'm 45 now. Awesome details on the paint.
It looks way better now! Well done!
So much better. This is something I would actually what to own.
Your paintin skills are top notch superbly impeccable great JOB!! I’m for sure gonna stay
Excellent Job Steve . The only thing you neglected or didn't show was a clear coat satin finish for durability. Professional looking now.
This reminded me of how much I wanted one of these when I was a kid.
Excellent work 👍🏻 While Watching you paint this iconic board game, it gave me inspiration to write a jumanji style DnD session.
That sounds fun. :)
You really know how to make screen accurate models.
Isn't it amazing what a little paint and TLC can do.
you should take it back to the store like that, see what happens. Great work!
