i draw comics and i used to publish weekly! but i have learned that it's important to step away from a regular schedule and just create out of the spotlight so my work isn't informed by the "people are watching" feeling. i'm much happier creating a bunch of stuff in private and then just rolling it all out much later.

You're awesome, I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel.
Not to argue with your point that art is meant to be perceived (it's pretty much the objective truth), but I think you can be on the "perceiving" end as well. I was definitely lying when I was saying that I'm doing it all "for myself" back in the day, but the biggest motivation for me was (and still is) just making shit that "fits" me and that I enjoy making. I do think that I'm pretty good at what I do, but seeing the end result always gives me a huge self-esteem boost that simply can't be achieved in any other way. You know, looking at it and thinking, "hell yeah, I did this".
Also I love performing, it's the most efficient way for me to vent out. I write songs that can bring out the whole potential of my vocal range, with the lyrics I truly believe in. I fucking love screaming my heart out and having my voice and the words I wrote resonate with the sound of my guitar. I'm pretty confident in saying that I'm doing it for myself, since no-one else hears it, and this is still one of my favourite things to do (arguably even more so than when I'm performing for an audience - less stress, more fun).
Of course showing it to others is the point, but seeing how far you've come and learning more with each piece is also really valuable. You're still making lots of progress, even when you're not publishing anything. In fact, I think it's better to start off that way. Too much pressure can also turn you off from making art entirely.
Just don't turn it into an excuse, you know. Start sharing it with others when you're about half as ready as you think you should be.

As programmer, I do publish most of my code, my 2 cents:
    1. It proves I work on private projects, develop, learn stuff. Makes me look good for potential new employee.
    2. It can be useful to someone, even if that's very few people or in few months, or me in few months :KEKW:
    3. Sometimes I post like game mods - transparency is kinda expected.
    4. Sometimes I hope, if what I posted it's useful, someone might not only use it, but develop it further.
    5. Externalizing yourself, even if to the void, just feels good. Even if you write journal and burn it it makes your mental better.

I subscribed on 3rd video, I didn't watch single full video, but I got hooked up in first minute. I don't even care what are you talking about, I love your vibes, charisma, idk. You are set to success.
