    Did you buy the Canon R6? Are there enough new features in the R6 ii to warrant an upgrade so soon? What else would you buy instead?

    • @salmo6
      @salmo6 Год назад +3

      I have a Canon R6. The R6 ii looks good, but when I upgrade it will probably be to an R5. The prices of used R5s have come down to not too much more than a new R6 ii, and for me personally, the 45 MP of the R5 overrides all of the benefits of the R6 ii.

    Great review! I would absolutely upgrade from my R6 for less frustration. I love my R6 and it has served me well but the R6ii seems to have fixed a lot of small annoyances that really bothered me at times. The faster sensor readout is a big one as I prefer electronic shutter. No overheating is nice as well as is the lack of a video time limit. I rarely record long videos but it annoyed me that it was there. Keep up the great work!

      Hi Rod, yes sometimes it take just a few updates to have the perfect camera and i think the R6 ii is very close to that. I think for many people the R6 ii will be a perfect camera.I have never really record longer than 30min at a time so that never really bothered me so much, but the over heating did and i never had any issues with this camera.

    Fantastic review Charl. I think the upgrades have been brilliantly well thought out and implemented by Canon. **edit** I just got my R6ii yesterday. A steep learning curve upgrading from a 1DX ii, but it seems worth it. The rolling shutter effect is noticeable (but not terrible) on vertical lines when panning so I probably won't use it for wildlife or sports much, but there is testing to be done...... If I could have afforded a R3, I'd have gone for it, but I'm very happy so far.

Stil looking for the settings for focus and metering at some times. Try-out to shoot in Manual-mode with Auto-ISO Shutterspeed 800-3200 and 500 mm f7.1 or hier f-number. Got the back button set for autofocus, star button for eye detection, the m nfn for selecting the type of eyetracking (mostly animal) and the last button for holding the focus point. Also set the joggle button to be able to go crossing the screen. Found these settings also on RUclips. Thanks for showing the prerecording options for foto and video. As living in The Netherlands I have set the camera to Pal and so only the max will be 50 frames/sec. Can you give a video about your button-setting. Regards Leo

    Love my R6. I do have to admit that I felt a little "cheated" seeing the R6ii come out so soon. For me, I don't believe the upgrades are significant enough to make me want to switch. I rarely shoot video, in fact I have yet to shoot any video with the R6, so that part of it isn't an issue. 24mpx compared to 20 is a nothing burger. The improved focusing is the only thing that would tempt me, but not enough to justify taking a loss on the original.
    I did notice from tests on line that even the modest increase in resolution caused the high ISO performance to take a small hit. I enjoy doing night photography occasionally, so cleanest possible images at high ISO is important to me. Overall very happy with the camera and see no reason to make a change in the foreseeable future. Heck, I've barely broken it in!

      I have a 7D ii (and a 1DX ii) and I just got my R6 ii. I shoot sports in jpg for a company that does onsite print sales. I typically use my 7D ii for field sports due to the added reach (I don't get to edit). The R6 ii has rendered both my D/SLRs obsolete due to the 1.6 x crop mode, as well as obviously having full frame. Its a steep learning curve with this body though, compared to the 7D ii and 1DX ii, which are nearly identical as far as menus are concerned. Hopefully you upgraded and are loving it :)

      If your budget allows it go for the R3. If your budget is tight rather go for the R6 ii and invest the extra cash in glass. I think you can get pretty much the same results. The R3 is stronger built, better battery life, much bigger buffer, and the button lay out is a bit better and a couple different features. Unless thats really important to you the R6 ii will do fine. I only had the R6 ii for around 3-4 weeks and i really enjoyed it. I had no issues with it, not sure in the long run.

    I purchased the Canon R6 Mark II. I own and love the Canon R6. Short and sweet the canon R6 Mark II was a total bust for me. I used the R6 II once and the camera rattled when I too it out of the box like something was loose inside it. It seemed cheaply made. But I went ahead and tried shooting photos with it. The camera froze up while using it much to my dismay. I shut the camera off but it stayed on in the frozen mode. I had to remove the battery to get it to turn off finally. This kept happening which made it unuseable for me. I returned the camera and got a new replacement. This 2nd Canon R6 mark II also rattled. Low and behold it also malfunctioned multiple times. It went black but the camera made a clicking sound over and over again. The only way to get it to stop was to take the battery out. This kept happening over and over again. I sent the camera back and asked for my money back. Im a canon guy but I am avoiding this camera at this time.
