We're going over the recently-released odds for the 2024-2025 Pacific Division standings, and how the Vancouver Canucks are projected as the fourth best team.

Don't see the problem. Betting sites post the odds that think will make them the most money. If their odds are way off from reality, go out and make some money off them.
Oilers fan here. I would most likely slap them in at second or at least third. The kings are not better. I think Vancouver is better than the start of last year, but I don’t think they’re better than the playoff lineup of last year.
Jim Rutherford will not bring on any players that the franchise does not think they cant get significantly more out of.
i have a hard time saying Van is better than last year when Myers is on the 2nd pairing. But ranking the Kings over the Canucks is criminal
Myers was 2nd pairing last year . He was 3rd in ice time for defenceman

They’ve been underestimating them all year.
The thing is, nothing you report on actually happens.
I feel like that’s a good thing, keeps the pressure of the guys and allows them to play their game. Like what Tocchet always says meet pressure with pressure.

I don't care about odds. Games are played to get actual results, not to confirm the odds. Don't get hung up on betting odds.
I personally am not bothered by the prediction at all, or being underrated, especially if I was an athlete playing for the Canucks.
I would rather have my opponents under estimate me then see me as a force to be reckoned with. Because it's much easier to catch your opponent off guard and all the more motivating to stick it to the critics.
Vancouver canucks need to play a full 60 minutes instead of that 20 -30 minute game ..

i think this is a good thing. they underestimated Quinn Hughes last year at around this time, and he ended up being the best defenseman in the league. keep doubting us

We did had trouble playing agians the LA and lost most of the games agians them too.Thats why they have us below them.

Disrespect and being crapped on is the fuel that any pro athlete thrives on. Extra motivation is not a bad thing. I think the oddsmaker see your top goalie not finishing the playoffs and has leg issues, there is the what if factor of is this more serious a problem.

What makes you think a better top 6 with the Debrusk addition for Petterson getting him back to form, a much improved bottom 6 adding Sherwood to make the Canucks one of the more physical teams out there. Retaining one of the most skilled and physical bottom 6 players in the nhl in Joshua to a great deal. Canucks retained most of the good assets. They lost Lindholm and Zadorov both were massive overpays. And Ian Cole who was ok but not worth 3 mil. In conclusion it will be close but Canucks are built more hard nosed physical and play harder than Edmonton and Vegas which balances out the talent loss to Edmonton but you could argue the Canucks have a lot of talent too

Defensively they may be a bit worse but that's something a system and goalie can make up for. They are absolutely better and deeper upfront and that should make up for any defensive deficiencies.
