- I do think they're still going to be a playoff team in 2025, but they need another defenseman or two.

Can’t split up that third line that worked so well last year
@@paul.dhaliwal I wanna see Petterson between Josh and Garly.
@@matthewjudge3763No. Petey needs to get his own line going.
that was last year
@@chadrichards6607 for 58 minutes total
Yes I agree why split up that magic
I feel cautiously optimistic. Often a breakout year might be followed by a step back. I'm hoping this doesn't happen to the Canucks like it did after their playoff success in the playoff bubble of 2020. I'm cheering for my local team but I've been burned too many times with my lofty expectations.
I think they will have a season with the same record, but with lower highs and higher lows. I expect it to be a very consistent season in terms of goal%.
If nothing else, the 2020 off-season was an absolute disaster and it was crystal clear the roster was worse going into the 2020-21 season. This hasn’t been something like that.
I’m expecting a step back this year after the breakout season but what happened after the 2020 playoffs was far more extreme than just a step back lmao
Hey! No reason to talk about the devils like that! 😂
Completely different situation. They are not even remotely comparable
think we'll take a step back but I feel better about the rest of division (excluding Oilers) than this time last year.
Hoping to see two Elias Petterssons confusing every announcer this season
They can pull masks like the Killer Bees
They had the Sedins for decades I think they can handle it😂
@@brandonliu596 The Sedins had different first names. Definitely not the same thing
D petty making the team this year?!?’ That would be wild!
I can’t wait for a all swede stud d line of D petty and willander
I dont think you split up Garland and Joshua. Miller centering those 2 would be an insane line.
Oh yea, I honestly didn’t think about miller between those guys.
Debrusk petty boeser
Joshua miller garland
If that worked it would be wicked
Really liked Garland-Joshua-Blueger trio doing well last season
Hope Lekkerimaki has a good camp and starts off on EP40’s wing. If he’s ready for NHL minutes that makes things very interesting for Toch
@bimjenning6962 it's unrealistic that Lekk cracks the opening night roster. It's better for his development to give him the full season in Abby.
@@bimjenning6962 his game is still very raw and he needs ironing out on the d side of the puck and his off puck positioning
@@trevorscollon Yes that’s why he used the word “hope”
@@trevorscollon Tocchet gets the final say in that, if he ends up looking ready then it's hard to pass up.
@@bimjenning6962 He's likely starting in Abby. Might see him come up for a couple games this season though. Even if he does kill it at training camp, I dont see tochett bumping anyone down out of top 3 lines currently.
i wouldn't mind seeing a joshua-miller-garland line
That would be awesome
i jus think you can’t split up miller and boeser, when they start goin together they’re magic
@@blackcatsandbooks86yea Tocchet will keep them together if they’re both healthy for sure. Idk why everybody is overlooking their great advanced stats and production all season and post season
Joshua Petey Garland maybe
@@debuthunter5389 i could see this happening
Wouldn't keeping the third line we had last season be good though given their chemistry?
@darkshadowgamer8627 Yeah I love Shannon to bits but I'm glad he's not picking the lines. That third line needs to stick together.
@@Spectra115he said he used Cap Friendly’s depth chart
@@SMA2343 fair enough, I'm just a huge believer in Garland/Joshua/Bleuger
Joshua and Garland should stay together. They’re so much better on the same line than they are separately
Debrusk-Petey-Hog
Heinen-JT-Boeser
Dak-Blueger-Garland
Pod-Suter-Sherwood
are the right lines for me. I also wouldn't mind swapping Hog and Bowser if Petey struggles again. I trust JT to produce regardless of who he plays with. If Debrusk and Petey work well and Hog starts to struggle I'd like to see Podz given a chance - Maybe has a similar development to Nichuskin (except we hopefully keep him).
These are great possible line ups!!
As Canucks Fan. I like the additions they made. I believe there top six is better now than last year with DeBrusk. Im excited for next season!
Defensive depth is worse though….
@@J-jizzy_ They’re going to get another D man before the deadline
@@J-jizzy_ If hronek can produce like the first half then we'll just need to rely on Demko and Silovs a bit more. and since Tocchet style is very defence heavy then hopefully we'll be okay
They didn't have Zadorov until late November so they still had their 12-3-1 start without him with generally the same defense.
Playing Demko less during regular season is a must do. He had double hip surgery to repair impingement, bone on bone and torn labrum as a young man. Hip issues will be more often as he ages. If the Canucks stumble this year he should be traded. That being said he is an amazing goaltender and I will miss him
We really need some of our prospects to start producing.
We don't have many lol and they're all still a year or two away.
Swap Garland and Hoglander and I agree with ya 100%
That's what I wanna see, too
Desharnais better be a regular with the money they gave him. I'm not a Canucks fan, but I like this roster. This team should at the very least be a good playoff contender.
We think alike!
Everyone's been assuming it'll be JT + Boeser & EP40 + DeBrusk, and then keeping The Life Line together as the 3rd. But to me, that leaves serious deficiencies on the top 2 lines no matter who gets slotted in there.
The only thing I'd change right away compared to Shannon's depth chart is swapping Garland and Hoglander. And then it's really about seeing who clicks.
I think Hoglander clicks a bit better with Suter than he does with Blueger. So it would be awesome if Heinen happens to have instant chemistry with those two. Could be the second coming of a new Life Line if we get that lucky.
DeBrusk --- EP40 --- Boeser
Joshua --- JT --- Garland
Heinen --- Suter --- Hoglander
Sherwood --- Blueger --- Podz
What I really like about that structure is that it's super clear and easy how everybody slots up when injuries occur. The Bottom 9 have especially similar types. And I can just picture the Canucks wearing teams down with wave after wave of similar forechecking, creating frustration and power plays. And not much worry having any of those lines out there against any other team's top 2 lines.
I'd call it...consistency. And when lines do get shuffled for whatever reason, nobody has to alter their role. The guys can know their assignments and know what's expected of them. I think I like it
hm, that third line scares me
@@user-kt8kr4cu4h- scares you in a good or bad way lol ????
I honestly love that lineup, JT could take good years from Joshua and garland and elevate them even more
I agree. Miller can elevate gars and Joshua.
I actually really like this! The first line would be high scoring, but that’s a monster of a second line. Imagine going up against those three guys, all of whom have an aggressive style of play.
Like the additions. But no matter what, in Tocchet we trust to keep everyone pulling the same direction. They need that strong direction.
Good forward depth, solid goaltending if healthy, the D took a step back from the playoffs roster, still a weak division and some cap to work with to add a 3rd pairing LHD. Playoffs a lock i'd bet.
Definitely a 'win by committee' lineup
Thanks for your enlightening insight and thoughts… an intriguing year ahead!
What do you think about Kylington? Someone who is more mobile for 2nd/3rd pairing role
Hoglander is the dark
Hourse this coming up season 20-25 . This is his season to make or break. My fav player on the ice. Always committed & ferocious on the fore check
Kylington could be available. I think he would be a decent 3 or 4 defenceman

I feel good about the team. You always worry about when you have multiple players have breakout seasons if they can do it again. Hopefully the experience from this past season helps us in the playoffs next season. I lived Hoglander in the regular season, but he seemed to disappear during the playoffs
Hope we still on for the meet up , it's supposed to be better weather not so hot 👍🏾👍🏾
I like the moves. I agree with we need a top 4 dman
Hoglander's last season gave a Cliff Ronning feel to it. I really hope he's able to follow it up with another solid outing. This is the best he's looked since his rookie year.. at least with the big Club
Rather Debrusk than Guentzel. I’m fine with the moves.
Especially comparing their cap hits. DeBrusk is also bigger and plays tougher.
0:49 Everyone in the know is saying DeBrusk is a true Tocchet player. I'm excited for that reason.
1:03 Given how Petts STARTED the season, that injury had to be more nagging than he let on. And I'm ok with that, because it shows he doesn't play it up and he doesn't openly make excuses.
1:50 In the spirit of Rutherford (paraphrasing), if everything goes right, these two will have success this season. They're building on something special.
2:04 I don't care what people say about Benning. I know he was terrible with sh!t contracts and some pretty forgettable trades, but that Miller trade is ONE of the best in Canucks history. Not THE best, but among the best.
3:31 Given that he wears 53, there were times last season where he actually looked like Horvat with his finish in front of the net. It was so weird... He has skill. He's quietly quite the complete package for what he's hired to do.
4:21 I watched Bains play here in Red Deer. He looked like a man among boys when he was on the ice. I think he just needs a bit more time to develop and adjust to dominate more in the AHL, and he's pretty close to that point now. I guess September will paint a better picture.
7:59 More importantly, unlike the Benning era, Allvin has a whole team of specific subordinates who work together to help guide his decisions. That's why we're no longer seeing a lot of bad contracts. There have been some risky trades, but I understand what they're doing in those situations. It's a dynamic situation and sometimes you have to take those risks. The turnaround from the Green/Benning era has been stunning to say the least.
10:00 Here's why I'm excited: They made sure they remained BIG on their D-core size (we can ignore Hugs' height, as he's almost impossible to chase when he has the puck). They signed a cap-friendly top six player who is perfect for Toccs to coach. They signed a top 9 winger who still has growing to do, but has been pretty good so far. They signed a bottom six physical player that Hugs himself was excited to no longer have to play against. They didn't put all their eggs in one basket the way past GMs would do. Now, we just have to see how this revamped lineup gels. Argue and disagree all you want, but this is a solid lineup.
Canucks had 5 all stars last year. Guentzal would have been great but I think they have more depth this way with the ability to add more. I’m very interested in this season and hoping they can do better.
My hopes last year were that they just made the playoffs but they proved they could beat anyone and now I’d like to see them get to the next round and further.
I’d say my expectation for this year is at least second round but it’s never easy.
As much as I like the current 3rd line If we are going to pay garland 4.9m it would be great if he could fit on a line with Petey and Debrusk and have Joshua with Miller and Boeser
One of my fav jerseys....I need to order one sometime
Oh yeah baby this is what we’ve been waiting for this is what it’s all about
Hard to see the moves they've made as anything other than positive, but we've definitely got more moves to make if we're looking to make a serious cup run this year. As stated, our defensive depth is severely lacking. Desharnais has been on an upward trend and I'll be interested to see if he can live up to the hype that management seems to be putting into him. Getting a solid puck-mover has to still be the end goal though, and our trade pieces are somewhat limited if that's the agenda. Hoglander or Podkolzin seem like likely candidates if they can't perform to where we want them, and Forbort is probably the easiest move candidate for dmen. Overall very excited to see how things shake down for the team this season, playoffs will be just as exciting as they were this year.
You won't be making a serious cup run. Your season ends in Edmonton in 5 games max
If I'm Tocchet, I'm not putting Hoglander in the top 6 over Garland. Garland is a clutch player, and deserves to play with two other clutch linemates. I'm also playing Sherwood with Suter and Heinen, as there's more untapped potential in Sherwood. Hoglander can hang with Podz and Blueger.
Debrusk-Pettersson-Boeser
Joshua-Miller-Garland
Heinen-Suter-Sherwood
Podkolzin-Blueger-Hoglander
Your lines look the best 👌
I agree
Seeing garlands effort in game 7 compared to the rest of the team, i think he really deserves a shot in the top 6 to start the season
@@CME-4575 The guy never gives up
Would honestly have DeBrusk and Boeser with Miller instead and then Joshua Garland with Petey. I like Miller Boeser combo too much lol
youtube is unsubscribing your subscribers. I was unsubscribed. Love your Channel. RUclips must be censoring the canucks like Sportsnet.
That hat is so sick
It would be great if the Canucks didn't have dip into their LTIR until after the season starts, because it gives them additional benefits and flexibility to pounce on available players. I like what the Canucks did this offseason, but considering when during the last offseason they got DeSmith and Lafferty, I don't think anyone should think they're done yet.
I see them running back that successful third line again this season, because on many nights it was their best line, but there's a question about whether Blueger or Suter centre which of the depth lines. I see the Canucks as continuing to use the new NHL style of doing scoring lines as pairs and plugging in a third player, meaning DeBrusk and Boeser would be on separate lines. Heinen will probably get a shot at Suter's spot on the wing, with Miller and Boeser. Sherwood is a great 4th liner who might move up the roster from time to time, which also gives him the opportunity to take Suter's spot on the wing of a scoring line.
Shanon always saying:well he had a career year...let me tell you...lots of players here had career years!😂
Im happy with what we've down to the forward corps. I think Debrusk is an upgrade on Lindholm especially given his age and contract, hopefully he can be the answer to Peteys missing winger, and adding sherwood / heinen gives us really good depth and energizing players. Can see both of them being fan favs next season.
There's a lot to be desired defensively - I think signing both Myers and Desharnais was a mistake. It should have been one of the other. Myers had a great season last year but was partly because of his reduced role playing on the bottom pair. If he or Desharnais are relied on to play top 4, I don't think thats a recipe for success. Even if we end up signing a puck moving RD, that results in having Myers / Desharnais healthied, which would be 2-3m in the box. I think saving that salary and combing our remaining cap to Zadorov would have been a wiser move. Perhaps they want to keep the right side open for a Willander appearance after his colege season??
I don't mind Forbort, but we're a Soucy injury away (who is already injury prone) from having him play in our top 4 as well, which is yikes. This seems like a D core that Benning would run, which gives me confidence that there's still a move or 2 left up current management's sleeve. I don't think Allvin and Rutherford are dumb enough to think this is a championship blueline. Or perhaps keep that cap space and make a trade to acquire someone like R. Andersson mid-season.
Not sure about the debrusk signing yet. Hopefully someone develops chemistry with Pettersson. Zadorov was really nice to have though.
Yeah unfortunately Kuzmenko was the one with chemistry with him...
DeBrusk Pettersson Sherwood - (similar to VGK's Barbashev Eichel Marchessault line)
Heinen Miller Boeser
Joshua Bluegar Garland
PDG Suter Podkolzin
Trade Hoglander at peak value + dead cap.
no hoglander?
The moves were great. The understanding of what type of player this team needs but also making sure they'll align with the system (this may age like milk). And the fact the guys we got seemed legitimately stoked makes it so much more fun
I don’t know if I have the same enthusiasm as you. Joshua and Hoglander as 2nd line wingers just don’t do it for me.
A very objective view as per usual; great synopsis.
I'm actually a fan of the Barrie train, let's just keep throwing darts after an overachieving season!
Tocchet has heavily spoken about creating duos throughout the 23-24 season, so I think it’s unlikely he will break up Miller+Boeser and Joshua+Garland, unless DeBrusk happens to have better chemistry with either Miller or Boeser than he does with Pettersson. At this moment, DeBrusk is supposed to be Pettersson’s duo partner but I could see Pettersson+Boeser and DeBrusk+Miller being the new duos. No way Joshua+Garland is broken up because their chemistry is so strong that you could put almost any centre between them, and they would put up points.
Hey Shannon. Been following you for years. Love the work you do.
I dont think that Boeser moves from Millers side.
I think Sherwood is more used to playing the left side too. Right!??
What about McWard as a depth callup?
Cautiously optimistic
Seems like the chemistry created last season is earased with these line combos -Miller/boeser, Joshua/garland/bleuger
Hopefully Lekkerimaki somehow makes his way into getting some minutes for the canucks this season.
Really wish we kept zadorov
I wish they had too, but I think that contract will age like milk in Boston.
@@TheHockeyGuy why ?
He is turning 30 and physical defensemen who take too many penalties don't age well.
I like the direction they've gone, no huge contracts, but some nice depth pieces. I don't think Management is finished, as witnessed by the flexibility with the Cap. There are quite a few teams over the Cap, meaning NHL talent will be available at under the Market prices..
I think next year itll be:
Debrusk Petey Hoglander
Heinen Miller Boeser
Joshua Bleuger Garland
Aman Suter Podkolzin
our F group is very versatile. For instance, Suter can slot in on L2 where hes had success with 9 and 6, moving Heinen down to the 4th and 88 in C4, or move Joshua up to L2 and drop Heinen to L3, put 40 between 81 and 8, reunite the lotto line... plenty of more combos we can work with. I agree that having another top 6 forward would be beneficial, but I think our D is top priority right now. Cant have Myers playing top 4 minutes.
Looking good again Lotus Land.
Miller - Pettersson - Lekkerimaki
Debrusk - Hagens - Boeser
Joshua - Raty - Garland
Hoglander - Heinen - Podkolzin
Hughes - Willander
Pettersson - Hronek
Soucy - Myers
Demko
Silovs
Let’s not forget we started last year with PDG next to Miller and Boeser. Then we had Mikheyev and Kuzmenko with a good part of the season with Petterson. Replace those 3 with DeBrusk, Heinen and Hoglander and we are looking better.
Joshua Miller Boeser
DeBrusk Pettersson Garland
Heinen Suter Hoglander
Podz/PDG Bleuger Sherwood
Forecheckers and finishers on each line. I expect Hoglander to be on pp2 this season so 3rd line minutes would be perfect. Definitely a few combinations can be made
I think you have one star centre with one star winger, with miller and petey obviously being the centres and boeser and debrusk being the wingers. The other two wingers will should be what all the players are working towarsds with the exception of the joshua blueger garland line.
BC hydro with its annual "let's turn off the power during a heatwave"
Im gonna be honest, i thought Vancouver overachieved last year and i dont see them replicating last year. Hronek had an insane hot start, i dont see that happening again, he got absolutely exposed in the playoffs. Desharnais is big and plays a simple game but lacks aggression for his size and lacks a bit of speed. Debrusk ive seen him in Boston lots and he either have good days and bad days half the time. Rest of the league are also aware of how well the team did last year so this team better be ready if they want that success again
Decently excited with who the Canucks were able to grab in free agency. I think this will be a bit of a step back year compared to the overachievement of last year. But I think the Canucks will be a better playoff team.
id put suter between joshua and garland, canucks fans seem to forget that suter centered that line at the start of the season and had success he just got injured and that’s when teddy blueger filled in there. imo blueger works better as a fourth liner than suter does as he’s grittier and can play in the d zone better whereas suter has a little more offensive skill
If this team can get 1 more solid defenseman without giving much up, they are going to be a problem. Forward lines are better than last years at any point.
Definitely taking a step back this year. They won't have a 105 PDO heater for the first thalf of the season
Looks good, would be nice to add another defense man
The forward group is imo much better but they may have to out score their problems on defense. Think steve dangle put it best that no one wants to play against all these pain in the ass players miller henien joshua garland sherwood. Hughes even said that during the playoffs, sherwood pissed off the whole team, glad hes here now.
I may be out of touch saying this but your going to have to trade one of the defense pick ups plus a draft pick for a top 4 dman. Wait and see whos tanking, whos available and looks like a toccet player.
I've been waiting for this video. Didn't really care what the other teams were doing 😂😂😂
I feel good about the Canucks free agent signings. My outlook is that GMs only lose on July 1st. No one really wins because you pay a premium. Because the Canucks made little moves in comparison to the cap space they did have, it was a smart offseason. They got tougher to play against. The only complaint I really have is I think the DeBrusk contract is a year too long but that’s what you have to pay on July the 1st.
❤
Honestly if you’re looking for the hardest working player who never plays half assed then that’s Connor garland.
I think the moves they made were as good as they were going to get. I’m more impressed with their resistance to overpaying Guentzel or an equivalent.
I would bring back the same third line. They had a great deal of success last season and I dont see any reason they can't repeat it
They got weaker. I also don't expect Boesser to pass 40 goals again
If I wanted to get the new Anaheim Ducks Jersey away and at home with a team players name on it, it would cost me approximately $1,600 before taxes preordered. When they start showing me that they really wanna put a really good team on the ice then I’ll buy those super expensive jerseys otherwise I’ll use the ones I have with the old logo..
I like the moves they made and the fact that they didn't get sucked into a huge contract with excessive term. Alvin and Rutherford and have shown they can work some magic via trades and pickups so hopefully they can get our D squared away during the season.
Feel goaltending will be a serious question mark for the Canucks post Demko health challenges as well as speed on the defense lines. Would like to hear your comments contrasting Canucks with the newly boosted Nashville team.
This franchise has never been consistent, i wouldn't be surprised if they dont do as well as last year.
huge fan of the forward group. but it's left a small hole in our defence. That means hronek and Hughes need to step it up this season if we don't find the man we need. Losing Zadorov is a moderate blow to our defence. but if we can increase the attack and rely on Demko as we have in the past then I think we'll still be in good shape.
There's zero evidence that Peety had any kind of injury other than his agent telling people he did. (and only AFTER the playoffs)
The guy didn't even see a doctor.
Woooo Canucks!
I like your line up better than most I've seen, its almost what I've been saying.. the only difference I have is moving Hoglander down the line up as he struggled against the tougher matchups and did most of his scoring lower in the line up. Id keep Joshua/Garland together and slip Miller in between on the 2nd line.. they can all play matchup roles and defend.
As for the defence and cap space etc.. I would be going hard after Rasmus Anderson. 2 years left on a great cap hit. Calgary has shown they are willing to deal with Alvin and they want younger roster players, picks and prospects for their rebuild. what's your thoughts on a Hoglander, McWard, 2025 1st rd pick kind of package. would you be willing to up the prospect level to a Willander? Would Rasmus fit Long term with Hughes as Willander was drafted to be?
Putting money on it, if Quinn Hughes doesn’t get injured he is reaching 100+ points
I do feel the team has gotten better, I think Debrusk is a upgrade in the top 6, I think Henin can replace what Lindholm did in the regular season and Sherwood is a fun pest to watch.
Agree with what you said Joshua should move up to the 2nd line which wasn’t really a thing last year so get him more ice time and maybe he fills that void of having one more guy in that top 6
At first I was ok with letting Zadorov go because of the overpayment for him but now am missing him the void he has left, not sure what move they can make at this point to upgrade the blue line.
Also was bummed they weren’t players for Tarasenko
I like our forward group but the D first pair is a #1,#2 to #3, 2nd pair is #4 and #5, 3rd pair are all #6's through #9's. We are asking a *lot* of Demko, someone who has struggled to stay healthy of late. If we grabbed a legit #3 d-man, I'd feel a lot better going into next year.
I think we drafted well. got more size
I think they will keep jake and Elias together as a pair and miller boeser as a pair.
what I would love to see is them go for it. trade garland pods and... for marner for the one year...
I agree the 2nd pair is subpar and deep offensive teams will take advantage
Pesce, cole would have been huge. As soon as they got defensemen (hronek, soucy, cole) they became good. Garland is a top 6 player. Debrusk doesnt move the needle. Petterson can though, need to see the shot and one t back.
Chychrun, walker, roy. Really miscalculated free agency. Teuravainen, marchessault would have been incredible over debrusk at the same cap. Cant hope for him to become different once you sign him- players usually are who they are.
Boeser i would trade for meier if i could. Hes smart enough to make up for the skating, but button hooking every time, i just think it would be best to sell high. Like they did with horvat but failed to do with virtanen and demko/markstrom
No one wanted Virtanen. They tried to trade him, but he had a bad reputation around the NHL. Ian Cole was brutal in the playoffs, so bringing him back would not have worked. You're underrating DeBrusk.
If they trade Boeser for that Meier contract, I might lose my mind.
Garland has never been a top 6 guy. He was terrible playing on the first or second line. Only found success once he was moved to the 3rd. Remember, we have tried to trade him multiple times and not one team wanted him
@@TheHockeyGuy
tldr; thanks for engaging with me!
virtanen i think they could have gotten something during his 20 goal season, before the off ice stuff. but yeah maybe thats why mccann didnt fetch anything either.
the top 4 is a problem. the vast improvement to the team this year was simple- capable defenders. goalies and forwards didnt change much. before that it was hughes + myers + ahlers holding the fort. thats not going to work, and you mentioned goals for were the same, while goals against improved alot. soucy and cole simply pinning guys instead of getting beat clean made a huge difference. things are always a confluence of factors, but i think tocchet got a lot of credit while the 3 dmen didnt as much.
so i thought people were underestimating hroneks contribution (and with his shot on the powerplay it would be even more). soucy, their record was nuts with him in the lineup. cole had bad luck during the playoffs with pucks bouncing off him, but hes still a bonafide nhl defenceman that i trust to be a #4. myers the consensus feels like hes a 3rd pair D/#5. forbort and desharnais im not 100% wouldnt get scratched at points during the season. and make poor plays with the puck like i saw desharnais have to run around after these playoffs.
meier- i know thats a hot take but things change so rapidly in the nhl. he had a down year on a new team, but he was the "darling" at that trade deadline and i think he was legit for it. power forward, good skating, nice shot. i think you can buy low on him now, kinda like i cant believe how chychrun got a 1st rd pick in one year and then a 3rd the next.
debrusk my problem is hes streaky. and hes had ample opportunity in the top 6 with players like bergeron and pastrnak. i think players play to their best in bostons system (like krug, zacha) so i would expect his production has topped out. and thats 5.5 cap where you could get someone who generates more, like teuravainen or marchessault.
obviously could be wrong about it all, i loved the jets roster and picked them to win it. on ice theres a big difference vs on paper and i cant figure it out.
@@danquast1914 i think if im counting who i can count on to create offense in the top 6, he is one of them. and he was one of them throughout the playoffs, maybe behind miller and boeser only.
he makes plays and holds on to the puck. thats what you need.
and top 6 to me doesnt necessarily mean top 2 lines. like i would put him on the 3rd line with blueger and joshua because of the chemistry. but when i count how to spend money on forwards, i have $ being spent on miller, boeser, petterson...debrusk now, garland. and then joshua/hoglander as middle 6.
you’re not getting timo
Their forward group (which has depth that was insanely powerful last year) is even better.
The loss of Zadorov will prove to make our right side 2nd pairing weaker.
Goaltending should be a little weaker if Silovs goes to minors or doesn't play like he's wearing a Latvia jersey.
He has nothing to do with this, but for whatever reason, when you said the Canucks need another top four defenseman, Mattias Ohlund popped into my head since he was such a stabilizing presence on the blue line and one of the pillars of their top four for so long (almost his entire career). He was definitely one of my favorites when I was a kid and to this day, I still believe he was underrated. I guess I’m just curious about other peoples opinions on Ohlund… So, what say you?
Canucks a lock for playoffs but the only issue is the oilers. I have no doubt they will add a top 4 dman during the season. This management team is a breathe of fresh air in comparison to the previous regime.
Shannon, Alvin is such a relief after Benning (Mr. I Really Like this Guy, he was so good five years ago, I'll pay twice his current value) He is not trying to trick other teams. He is making common sense trades that work for the Canucks. Healthy Demko, healthy Soucy, Myers steps up a little bit based on solid coaching, and we could be a contender. I am so happy with the Joshua deal.
According to that chart they have 7 defensemen vying to become a second pairing regular...That is great competition to have ...up until the trade line at least. One of them could rise to the occasion.
Should have let Myers walk
I think the defense is fine if Hronek can move to the 2nd pairing and Deharnais can be Luke Schenn or Tanev with Hughes on the 1st pairing. This allows Myers to slot into the 3rd and Hronek to move the puck more often. I didn't like that they turned him into a DFD when he is clearly a TWD.
I think it will be
Hoglander-miller-boeser
Heinen-petey-debrusk
Joshua-bleuger-garland
Podkolzin-suter-Sherwood
I think the Canucks brought in exactly the type of forwards they need and agree Debrusk could be a big positive. If they kept Zadorov I think their "D" would have been solid ---now I think healthy players is what they will need.If Demko had been 100% I could have seen the Canucks reach the finals. But when all is said and done I think the Canucks have what amounts to the best coaching staff in the league. If their minor league team can add to the NHL roster-they will be very solid.
You have to keep the Lifeline together, last years 3rd line
I'm thinking a worse regular season, but better playoff run
Canucks fans, what do you guys think about Jordan Harris on that 2nd pairing? Not saying he's a top 4 defenseman, but he never got his real chance in MTL (and probably won't with the depth in MTL) and I strongly believe that in the right team, given a real opportunity with a good linemate, he could achieve that potential.
not sure how you can split up Joshua and Garland after the great chemistry they built last season.
