Lol it's the new miracle zero recoil Sherman Canon. 🤣
Also its not on a shooting range just in a country field
Most sensible countries don't allow the general public ownership or access to fully operational military grade weapons and ammunition. There are certain places in the UK where under strict control military weapons and explosives can be used for demonstration or filming purposes. Ownership of deactivated or even reproduction weapons means strict rules and tons of paperwork. The whole series as much as I like it is contrived and obviously aimed at the American market. Freddie was a genuine para having fought in Afghanistan and it took some convincing to get him to tell of his experiences. What we know about Bruce's military career is zero but for some reason he does prefer wearing American airborne regiment paraphernalia rather than British. Freddie has a well earned chest full of medals which he wears on appropriate occasions but Bruce doesn't seem to have any. He's made in recent years a number of parachute drops the last of which went badly wrong and nearly killed him. I love the programme but it's best to treat it as it is, entertainment.

Shoot with a cannon and make believe that the shot is true ... check lol
The cannon don't even recoil, it shoots blank
Yep. Shooting live rounds would be too expensive i guess
i mean obviously they arent gonna shoot live rounds
Yeah no shock wave from the gun. Even if that was real ammo used they would be in big trouble and in jail for not having the gun deactivated
@@stephenwarhurst6615 not sure... in England yes. but in America there are many States that allow you to have a fully functional tank, just need proper license...
The breach didn't even recoiled when it fired
Blanks.
The Uk doesn’t allow civilian ownership of high calibre rounds, and this is a show more aimed at the US market
Mechanic : how fake do you want it to be?
Buyer : yeah.
7:47 that gun is aimed way off target, this and the lack of recoil makes it obvious that it's not real... what a great series:)
blanks
Looked that way to me as well, firing live 75mm rounds in a paddock somewhere isn't believable but great video all the same.
Pretty sure these are never sold to the general public without the gun being disabled permanently. Fake.
No recoil? Yeah, right...
It’s a blank, the explosions are from gasoline
Are you kidding me? An operating cannon in private hands? Like everyone notes the shells are 2-3 seconds slow, the shell explosions look like a buried Forcite stick and the 'shell's fuse' is activated by striking thin plywood and cardboard?
With that first round (6:47), shouldn't the 'round' have ploughed a furrow maybe deflect and hit the neighbour's pig shed (fresh bacon)?
That poor Bren carrier didn't even get a blossomed hole.
Still, Bruce should be awarded an Emmy for 'Special Effects'
Lol *shell Ricochets into Pig shed*
Only one Sherman has a real firing gun in private hands, its in Texas and you can pay to shoot it at drivetanks.com

It’s amazing how many people think these guns are actually firing. And from what it looks like it has a replacement engine in it. Kind of like their electric start Panther that works 100% of the time. While some late war tanks had electric starters they were extremely unreliable.
7:55 did it really explode on shot? Lmao they’re busted oof

Shermans are beautiful.
Now we're talking! Love this classy 3 piece transmission cover M4A1 75mm Sherman.
If we could have enough of these running, could easily redo some of the armor scenes for the classic 1970 film "Patton."
This is about my favorite Sherman. In fact, it's the Monogram 1/32 scale Calliope Sherman, but to true scale minus the 150mm rockets launcher.
Thanks Bruce!!!! Love your work!!! Love your Panther -- and now, this Sherman. My two favorite tanks from my childhood.
Proud to be an American.
A Sherman tank ? Power ?? 😂😂
Nice Joke 😂👍🏼 grandpas would laugh too

Don’t know why Bruce bothers with the Hollywood explosions. Most of us that aren’t historians can tell the difference between a large firecracker and a live fire.
A story of 2 Shermans. ...... My family had a country house in South Devon, high on a hill overlooking a valley. ...... About a mile and a half away lived a man who looked like an 18th century aristocrat, and had a 3 ton bronze cannon on a huge oak gun carriage. ...... It was raised from HMS Association, which sunk in a gale in 1707 off the Scilly Islands, off West Cornwall. ...... His favourite party trick was to load it with black powder and carpet wadding, and fire it. ...... Every time he did so, the windows at Cleeve would rattle, infuriating my father. ...... He was a WW2 submarine officer on HMS Torbay, in charge of the 4 inch gun used in surface actions, and no longer keen on loud bangs, having been parly deafened by them during the war.
Someone offered me 2 Shermans when I was in my late teens. ...... I forget if it was £500 the pair or each, but I dreamed of mounting one each end of the terrace, and firing back! ...... My mother owned the house, and had herself served in WW in FANY, involved in French Section, Special Operations Executive - of which she said precisely nothing - I connected the dots after she died. ...... Although part of the US 29th Division had been camped in the local village in 1944, and had shot small arms on the 1908 Territorial Force rifle range in our meadows, my mother was not impressed by the idea of 2 Shermans parked on her terrace!
the firing of the Sherman was a load of bollocks that first shot you could clearly see the explosion coming from the back and since when does wood set fire from a tank shell, it spoils programs like this when they bullshit the public, it puts you off the program.
7:56
*Gun Fires*
System: Your Game has Crashed
Sherman : F why is 88mm here
Panther next door : idk
Another Brucie bonus great on your mate greatest respect
I didn't see the barrel recoil at all! And when they fire the rocks a bit . I didn't see that at all . And the bren carrier where the shell hit looked all rusty to me . Hmmm a little Hollywood magic i think !
No recoil , that means black powder blank , and someone blew a hole in the target with remote explosive . Real Hollywood , I like it .
Doesn't matter what country you from, big guns make men happy lol
....you can't have a working tank gun in the UK
You under certain circumstances. Some UK tank owners do. The gun has to be smooth bored so it essentially becomes a large shotgun. Blanks can then be fired from them for display purposes.
Saw an m36 jackson firing at east kirby a few years ago. If that was blanks it had a big recoil and huge noise from the gun.
Its like 1984
Bruce should chase the 88 mm flak gun barrels that are being used as lamp posts!
Showing sherman original explosive power
Tiger: Explosive what??
Tigers hardly ever worked so I'm sure it wouldn't know what an explosive was.
@@chadjustice8560 yea let us be honest when this metal beast worked it was invincible
omg hes like a British Frank Reynolds and now i cant unsee it...
And suddenly a wild Tiger 131 appeared from the bush
And broke down while trying to move
Another Sherman!
There so many of them I seen one on a used car lot clearance sale!!!
The "triangle " is the symbol for all American armored divisions.
As a German reading this, I initially thought "oh was it blown up by Tiger 131 due to old habits?"
6:44 the orange flash on his face?
To show it's explosive power, fill it with 75 mm HE shells and fire on it with a Tiger so you will see a big explosion.
The sherman was a death-trap :D Would light up in flames if you shot it with a BB gun.
I need a tank
You allowed to fire a live projectile in the UK that can travel several kilometres?
Errm, NO
Complete fakery !
Definitely not. Try it and see how long you get in prison assuming the police don't test their weapons on you first.
The laws in the UK are ultra strict. If you even have a second world war jeep for re-enactments you can drive it to the venue but I believe that any weapons on it whether deactivated or fake plastic versions must be removed before travelling. After all we can't go scaring the great British public can we?🤣🇬🇧
The gun only fired a blank, there would have been recoil from that 75mm gun if it had a live round, not only that but 75mm rounds do not have explosions of that magnitude that was shown
Where is the recoil for the barre. You can also see the wiring on the barrel to set off the black powder
isn't that supposed to penetrate instead of flameable explosion
Hmmmm exploding AP, new technology?
Sasha Goncharov
APHE always existed tho.
This series would be a lot better if they really fired the weapons at real ranges and got rid of the Hollywood pyrotechnics
My great grandpa was in the 4th armored
wheres the part where they load the ammo

No recoil, not firing real shot
EH? Real good running CHURCHILL??? SAY WHAT!!!
Do you have any M48Patton in your garage?, I would love love love love to see it
the sherman wasn't that great of a tank but it was the right tank at that time. the germans had a saying "1 german tank was better than 10 shermans but they always show up with 11. "
No German actually said thought.
@@peterson7082 I had a German veteran tell me "Every time we knocked one out, there were 4 more behind it."
@@ralphjacobson8815 I believe he may have felt that way. But given how this quote only appears after the war I would be uncertain if that's how he felt during the war. All the same the figure mentioned earlier is not corroborated by really anything aside from serious exceptions like Tiger crews or to some degree 8,8cm. and PaK 40 crews.
Let's restore a Tommy cooker and pretend it was actually a good tank!!
?
@@peterson7082 He means a Sherman. The germans gave them that ironic nickname because of their ability to burst into flames after one hit and cremating the crew alive due to poor ammunition stowage and because they were actually under armoured and outgunned by just about everything they might have to fight. Their only advantage was reliability and there was lots of them available. Not much comfort for the crews though when a Tiger or Panther came around the corner.
@@fus149hammer4 My question mark reply was in regards to why the original commenter thought it was a bad tank. But you are mistaken.
The nickname "Tommy Cooker" never really specifically referred to the M4, and rather British tanks as whole. This reputation for burning due to ammuniton cook-offs is sort of a nonissue- as to both German and allied studies the _M4_ burned no more frequently than the _Panther._ And in later variants, the least of any medium tank to see appreciable service.
The _M4_ comparatively not that armored in comparison even to the _Panther_ with the exception of the front.
@@peterson7082 the M4 is far less armored than the panther
Not true lmao the sherman was a great tank
E WANTS MAE TO RESTORE A REYAL LOWIFE SHERMAN TANK!
Pls make the Same with the Tiger !!!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I can't tell if the title was a joke on how thinly armored that thing was
I'm sorry, if they were firing live ammo with a full charge, that gun would be recoiling! I suspect training rounds.
The main guy reminds me of Bricktop from Snatch! Wonder if he has a pig farm?!
Would be nice to have a show about WW2 but please without clowns the next time would be perfect
If the Sherman was in a "kertuffle" with a tiger, it would be burnt out, with its turret laying 50 feet away.

Tiger 131: "I'm about to ruin this tanks whole career"
Yes, its for reality tv, but you also have to know that firing a real AP or even HE, that it really dangerous. Especially with targets that close? HE shrapnel could easily fly back at them before the camera could catch that one of their heads got decapitated. If they fired a real AP, at that angle, that round can ricochet a few miles away into only God knows where. The gun fired blanks which should be good enough for an 80 plus year old machine.
Tell bruce to get ....
MY LORD.IS THAT LEGAL
I WILL MAKE IT LEGAL
it would have been nicer if they actually used live ammo, not just black powder😑
Explosive power 😂lmao! It was a explosion waiting to happen, it was junk!
Oh please, Bruce crompton TA part time para Saturday and sundays lol.
weird - the rounds should be non explosive??
It just fake documentary. Filled the cardboard with explosive or filled the projectile with explosive that explode on hit?
Poor little Bren gun carrier, wasted for a staged firing.
At least it is allowed the gun. Poor Emile in Holland is looking at fitting the turret back on the skid without the main gun. It was fine in the U.K. but Dutch authorities are more hard core and have been sitting on the paperwork for a year. (Built in China, fought in Iraq, war trophy to England, being restored in Holland)
I would love to fire a WW2 tank
