I feel like Beerus being a goal post is because if Goku and Vegeta surpass him then they would need to justify having antagonists that are stronger than Beerus coming into the series which would make Beerus look like a joke. After all what's the point of making your character a god if he can be easily triumphed by mortals?
I believe that when they surpass beerus only then makaioshins will truly become canon because is the only non bullcrap think that makes sense to be stronger than the gods of destruction and weeker than the angels
Gods have been surpassed so many times in Dragonball that it is super hollow to say a god can't be surpassed. Remember that every god was only considered weaker in retrospect. Each time one is introduced, they are said to be the top God at the time.
@@bumblebower1529 nope its that people have being saying that the makaioshins (if im not mistaken there originally from xenoverse or heroes) will appear on dragon ball daima wich kinda makes sense but i still think daima aint canon
He was just using whatever percentage he needed to make it a tough fight. What is so complicated about it? When their power up their ki all their stats increase. He was just suppressed Why make extra theories?
@@newhybrid101 I mean, groggy is a very likely scenario too, he was a lot more grouchy in his first appearance, and I find it hard to believe "the Goku effect" would sway the personality of an eons old deity...
@@newhybrid101 It makes sense even in the anime and manga he was barely awake what? A few hours max? For a dude that slept 50 years that's very little time to shake off the grogginess
@@tranidite yeah, takes me about an hour or two just to get rid of that post-sleep fatigue, even after 8h of sleep so I guess sleeping for 50 years would more time to get rid of it, or maybe I'm just sick and it makes it harder for me to sleep well idk
I really like the idea that Beerus is just a sleepy boi and his power is slowly returning to it's normal state before he napped for decades. It's so stupid and yet it's PERFECT for this series. If the anime ever continues from Super they should consider using this as a semi-serious semi-joking CANON reason for the goalpost shifting.
Would also be funny if Beerus trains while sleeping [really, deeply meditating], which is why he's huge powerful when he wakes up after decades for BoG, then gets stronger after various "naps" throughout the run of Super,,to keep up with or exceed Goku / Vegeta... 🤣
It would make sense since Goku lost at least a dozen fights in early dragon Ball because he was hungry berus being weaker because he was tired would thematically make sense
It would be interesting if they played it off as Beerus being weaker earlier on. They could explain it as him being rusty due to sleeping for so long. It would make some sense, even if it is a bit flimsy.
It's confirmed that he was holding back during his debut so they're not gonna play anything off. Beerus has and always will be holding back so that Goku and Vegeta can have a goal to achieve that grows with them, Beerus using more and more of his power as they get stronger until Goku and Vegeta can surpass him and Weiss, which would be the end of Dragon Ball as Beerus and Weiss would retire, leaving Universe 7 in the hands of GOD Vegeta and Angel Goku.
I don't think that is a very fun explanation though. Narratively speaking, it would be fairly consistent for Beerus to exist in a weird limbo where he is distinctly above the other destroyers, while still below the angels. Beerus knows his own strength, and because of his pure destructive nature, he wants a good fight. Since the destroyers are immortal (well... more like ageless), they don't have much reason to try and grow stronger in a short period of time. Beerus thus looks for a rival among the mortals, who are bound by their limited lifespans, and therefore have a reason to grow stronger in a much shorter period of time.
context matters. Battle of gods was made before Super existed. So clearly they had no idea they would make Beerus this bloody powerful until it was already too late.
Yer it's just toriyama being inconsistent withbhia storytelling, lore and powerlevels just as he always had for yeeeeears. People just want to cope and overthink stuff though lol
@@hanabal898 He always tried to tell a fun story over a logical or consistent one, which is why Dragonball is so beloved, it doesn't force itself into a tedious set of rules, it chances as it needs to keep that spark of enjoyment.
A terrifying fact I always like to bring up to my friends is that, against Goku and the gang, Beerus has never once used the Energy of Destruction against them, and has only ever used God Ki. And that each time he's ever used the EoD against another character, it has always resulted in instant death. A character like Toppo for example, during the tournament of power, was most likely his first time ever using the EoD in actual combat, and had probably only had a very short period of cultivation and accumulation of EoD beforehand. And he still almost defeated SSJBE Vegeta even with a very very limited amount of accumulation and experience. And when Vegeta also gained EoD, even with such an extremely tiny and limited amount of time to train with EoD, UE Vegeta still came out as an enormous powerhouse. Now take the fact that Beerus has had god knows how long to both accumulate EoD, come up with ways to apply it via techniques and such, and to gain experience using it... Now apply that, and it's not much of a shocker why he's so strong. That's my reasoning at least lol. Great video, pretty much went through every other answer that came up during me and my friends Dragon Ball talks about Beerus xD.
One thing people overlook is that Beerus has ultra ego and imperfect ultra instinct, 2 busted techniques(in manga he uses ultra instinct to beat other GoDs
I had always thought something like this too OP. Beerus takes that job seriously. The Destroyer energy is different. He understands that power. And only uses it to clean up the universe or erase completely from timeline a bad guy like Zamasu. Also Idk why people are confused. WHIS says he trains Beerus. Between his naps, so it makes sense hed be getti g stronger too. Especially after seeing the potential the Saiyans have. And i belive they are grooming them to be their replacements eventually. It would make sense they have to let them think they are close. Because if the gap was too big they may think its hopeless. The end of Brolys movie we see they are trying to teach Broly that idea of holding back to refine techniques to not waste energy if they dont have too. Increaseyour base form. I believe the full Hakai Destroyer energy may be kinda like a Super Saiyan jump. They talk about not letti gyour energy leak in the big Aruras. And its only afyer Beerus meets the Sayains we see him have one. When hes serious he doesnt have one. Just a small glow in the finger or hand has the Hakai is that powerful! Though knowi g Toriyama it could be as simple and Jokey as no, no hes a cat he was sleepy hahaha.
I think Beerus being worried about SSB Kaioken is more just Beerus being surprised that Goku had a technique that is just a straight power multiplier. Sure, he’s not stronger than Beerus NOW, but down the line if he managed to get somewhat close, the Kaioken could be used to close the gap. Beerus isn’t shocked by Goku’s current power, just by the technique, and its potential if used correctly.
@@xyzza2928 it may help to think of it this way. Beerus is already aware of Goku's forms and how each one gets proportionally much stronger than the last, but they don't really play well together... then he suddenly learns that this madman actually knows an ability he can possibly slap on top of any other form he achieves for a 2-20 times power multiplier. Even a smug and OP guy like Beerus would see this as a concerning development. You probably don't need an example, but I feel like doing math. The version of Goku who fought Vegeta on earth had a power level of over 9,000 but we'll round down for simplicity. If he were to go Super Saiyan from there his power level would jump to 450,000, and then with a Kaio-ken, depending on the multiplier he would achieve 900,000 to 9,000,000 which would allow him to fight every version of Frieza prior to his Final Form with relative ease. This example is fun because it also puts into perspective how absolutely ridiculous of a power spike the back half of the Frieza Saga was.
I mean it makes sense if you ignore the TOP and Morro arc. Because Whis in the TOP arc literally implied that if Goku or Vegeta got UI they would be above Beerus. That was the narrative of the TOP. Even if we just say Goku's UI at the end of the TOP wasn't mastered, Toyotaro himself said Goku mastered UI in the Morro arc. So, there's no reason why Goku shouldn't have surpassed him there.
@@spritvio639 He didn't specifically say if they got UI they would surpass Beerus. Also there is no ignoring the ToP and Moro so using that as an excuse doesn't fly. Beerus got stronger over those arcs thanks to Ultra Ego it's that simple. Goku caught up to him during the ToP.
@@spritvio639i remember it being said that mastered UI still needs mastering… ie just cause goku mastered the form theres still levels to that form that he could reach. likes hes 1% or something there to being true mastered UI
I personaly think belmod faking begin down is more of playing smart making other gods of destruction tried out berrus while he relative still fresh can finish him off
My theory is that Beerus lost a lot of power from sleeping for so long, kind of like a coma victim slowly gaining strength back after not moving for a long time.
One thing that is often overlooked in these discussions is that few characters actually know what Beerus' 100% power is, so Supreme Kai or Goku saying someone is stronger than Beerus only means that they are stronger than they think Beerus is.
Actually that's an extremely good point. Probably only his peer gods of destruction and the angels and above actually know just how strong Beerus truly is. Mortals have only ever seen Beerus playing around so far, but they might mistake that rough play for serious power just because he's too bloody strong.
My head canon has been a mix of theory 3 and 4: He grows stronger the less he naps for years on end, but he was always this ridiculously strong - stronger than any other GoD in fact - and manga Beerus is what I get behind. Toriyama's (may he rest in peace) comparison right after the Battle of Gods movie between Goku, Beerus and Whis is honestly very Toriyama: something he makes up on the spot since it's convenient. If he was asked the same question today the answer would most likely not be the same.
Well the movie has been decanonized by both the anime and manga, so we can rule out any movie only statement. I think something they could do is use UE logic for beerus, but saying he masters it so well that he doesn't need to take hits to be stronger, he only needs to get fired up by the battle. You could also add that he needs to nap to get his power back under control
@@speedy2k116 That literally means nothing. Timelines existing in-universe or not does not imply anything to any work's canonicity if it's not directly explained.
Shin is the most unreliable source ever, he didn't know that pataras lasted for 30 minutes for mortals, he didnt know beerus was destroying random planets, he doesn't know beerus full strength and hes a supreme kai who didnt know who the omni king was like man you dont know crap
Shin is unreliable. But the story always makes sure to tell shin when he is wrong. Shin sees Beerus use 100% in the battle royal And doesn't correct his assessment of Beerus power. VJump also says that Vegito blue rivals Beerus which makes Shin's statement more credible in this instance.
God ki itself cant be sensed but the pressure it gives off can be used the gauge the strength of the fighter we see this in the moro arc when piccolo notes how much stronger blue goku has become and when dende heals goku he notes that it will take him longer to heal goku because his ki is divine, VJump and Shin being wrong is simply bad writing and they are wrong simply in retrospect because it puts into question the credibility of both Goku Shin and VJump staff. @@sinistralhydra
I support the "he's always been that strong" theory, although the hasn't fully woke up one I can see merit in lol. 1 big reason I think this is because in B.O.G (movie and anime, not sure about manga) Beerus said he used a 100% power up for that split second to nullify the energy between himself and Goku. However we later find out he's bluffing through Whis. My main point is even if he went 70% like the movie stated, in all of Dragonball that I've seen if any character goes above even 50% their actual bodies show some (even if it's a tiny sweat drop) sign of fatigue, and Beerus was as calm as could be (for Beerus at least lol) during and after the fight. Meaning to me that there is no way he even got close to going all out and he is in fact, just that strong. Maybe my interpretation is off, maybe not, but so far that's my head canon lol.
That kinda fits because people seem to forget at the end of that movie when they land Beerus "fell asleep" after shooting a tiny rock. So Whis and Beerus have been shown to lie. Well maybe not lie isnt right. They are Gods after all they dont have to explian themselves. But it kinda makes sense.
my fanfic would be the stupid baby god zeno depowering mortals and building a wall between realms so we could get an arc without every fight being for the sake of a universes existence.

Beerus does meditation training while he's asleep for extended amount of time. It's been proven in canon that meditation training does make people stronger since Gohan and krillin did it on the way to namek
One thing I love about Beerus is that he's the first godlike being in the series who hasn't been overtaken by mortals. It's what other godlike beings should've been like, eg King Kai.
I'm a little surprised you didn't bring this up, but there is a line the anime, during the lead up to the Resurrection F arc, where Whis gives a discription if Beerus in relation to Goku and Vegeta. He's speaking to the Oracle Fish, and he compares the saiyans power to a nearby tree which is no taller than 15ft, then points to the massive world tree that makes up the bulk of Beerus' planet and which his palace is built into, and describes that as the level of the Gods, demonstrating that Goku and Vegeta have barely even begun to approach Beerus in power. I think as it's coming from Whis, it's probably the most accurate measure of Beerus' power we could get. Granted, this was near the beginning of Goku and Vegets's training, and they've progressed a lot since then, not to mention this is probably anime only (I can't remember if the exchange happened in the manga), but to me it it signals a power gap that i can't imagine even Goku and Vegeta could close in the 4-5 years that Super covers.

Let’s just be real. Beerus is literally just the goal that is wanted, but then he is always over exaggerated when it comes to his power by the creators because they’ll say Goku, his first fight against Beerus. they say that he was only using 50% of his power but then next thing we know when Goku absorbs that power into his base form and unlocks ultra instinct. Beerus Somehow even stronger and wasn’t using 50% of his power he’s just there to be the goal that will never be reached
I get why do that tho I mean lets say goku ends up surpassing beerus and then what will happen after that? Because there will be no one that goku can actually fight and have a challenge

@@gavinlopez7302 What he said in the anime is due to Toriyama never intending to continue the series. He made SSG the peak of power, made both Beerus and Whis above that, but not so much above that to the point that it would be unobtainable. That causes problems and these two would be eclipsed just from SSB. Their power had to be raised for Goku to have a goal to attain
Tbh the entire dragon ball franchise was originally just 12 episodes long lol (i.e. the first 12 episodes of og dragon ball) , toriyama never intends to write a long drawn stories , he just comes up with a villain/antagonist and calls it a day but the popularity of the franchise lead to such an unplanned and prolonged series and caused so many inconsistency
You know who else has nebulous levels of power that multiple sources describe differently? Gods. Actual gods, in most real-world mythologies. I genuinely think Beerus an unreachable ceiling in this way adds to his character and makes him feel more like an actual deity, rather than another magician with funny ears.
At this point, I just think Beerus is an exhausting character in general for modern dragon ball. Putting aside the powerscaling, its very clear to me that Beerus is just dangling keys the character. The story likes to raise up a bunch of questions with Beerus and just leave them hanging to maybe come back to in the future. When will Goku fight Beerus again? Who will surpass Beerus? Who will be the hext God of destruction? Etc. I don't mind having mystery or waiting for a payoff but when its done like this I can only be so excited because Beerus barely does anything most of the time.
Beerus being shocked about Kaio Ken is most likely just him being annoyed Goku held something back in their fight, considering he went so far as to act so Goku would use everything.
I think the big one that people really need to realise is that the super anime and manga are two different cannons that you can't mix any power scaling statements or feats. Manga beerus is still stronger then the main cast. Anime beerus has been confirmed in promotional material to be surpassed by ui omen goku in top as of now till it gets retconed. We know how the Moro and granolah will play out. Ui in the anime seems way better then manga ui that can't use emotions. So many difference that you can't really compare the two.
Boy, it would be really inconvenient if there was an exhibition match between all the gods where the Grand Priest orders everyone to fight all out or die right before in the prior arc.
I think Beerus is consistent and I see the 6, 10, 15 statement as more like this: 7 = 6^1.000.000, so a 6 must reach it's multiplied power 1 million times to reach a 7. 8 = 7^10.000.000, a 7 must do so 10 million times and so on and so forth. Making the 50 times multiplier from blue insignificent in comparasing to the gods. This way the scaling can work and even if you make the gaps smaller like 6^6, 7^7, 8^8 etc. 50*6 will still lack. Also the 6 was in regards to the god form, not the absorbed power, I think to remember. Additionally I absolutely love the idea of beerus being half asleep on top of that, as well as he gets into shape off screen, aka does a bit on exercising when nobody is watching. Otherwise he would have gotten more champer like, considering the calories he eats in the series. Anyway because of those 3 points I think it's all consistent and thus we all should continue having fun with the dragonball universe.
It would be funny if Whis comes out and says Beerus and all the Gods of Destruction has the potential to outgrow any threat that could face the Universe, because otherwise he would be poor at doing his job. It legitimizes the moving goalpost beliefs, but also frustrate fans who want to see Beerus ever get surpassed knowing that's not how things go.
my theory is that beerus is so powerfully that only whis and beerus can fully grasp how strong he is, like an iceberg, goku and vegeta are only seeing whats out of the water
Go look at the episodes when Whis was training Goku and Vegeta. I can't remember exactly which 1 but it was the one when the road was disappearing behind them and their clothes were heavy. Whis mentioned that Beerus trains too, Beerus isn't allowed to get stronger when he trains? Whis stated multiple times that Beerus trains, remember the episode when Vegeta knelt in front of Whis and asked Whis to be his teacher? Whis said he was not only Beerus' attendant but his combat teacher too. Beerus gets stronger too, just like everyone else, it's a simple concept.
in fact Beerus was not even fazed during the Goku vs Beerus fight, while Goku is wounded everywhere. It could be the anime drawing mistake at that time, but it could indicate that Beerus was lying about his true strength.
I think a lot of the inconsistencies come from the fact that it's incredibly difficult to actually get a sense of the power of a good unless you are approaching that level yourself. Normal people, even kais, just have to guess about beerus's strength since his true limit is never seen.
A vague power level is a moving goalpost, almost in the most literal way you can make it. Surpassing him is a goal, and one that can be moved to remain out of reach until the plot needs that goal to be met. There may be good reasons for keeping it that way, but it doesn't change what it is.
My headcanon with Beerus consists of two things: He's been using whatever percentage of power he needs to defeat whatever enemy he has. No reason to unleash a galactical nuke upon a fly. So him actually looking like he was stepping up his game against God Goku was not him reaching a limit or being threatened, it was just him showing he is capable of more than he was showing. And the second thing is - he's a deity. Deitys are never "consistent" per se in terms of power scaling unless it's stated by the writers themselves. (Example: A god of destruction cannot grow in power/A god of destruction's weakness is X or Y.) So unless they've stated such a thing and then somehow retconned that statement, the inconsistency we perceive is in reality just a basic deity doing godlike things. Gods aren't meant to make sense. They are meant to be universally powerful. Is it cool making it like that without explanation? Nah. Is it reasonable within the confines of a fictional story? Absolutely.
This reminds me of the joke theory I came up with a few years ago. It's kind of like the "it's taking him a while to fully wake up" option from the video but slightly different. His body is too stiff to properly access 100% of his true power. After spending decades asleep and sometimes sleeping in akward positions his body is really stiff and sore. Just think about how ssleeping weird for a few hours affects us, now imagine sleeping like Beerus does, sometimes twisted up like a pretzel for potentially months at a time before rolling over. And so about every arc or so he goes to an appointment with universe 7's greatest chiropractor in order to get the kinks in his muscles worked out and the "increases" in power he's gone through to remain ahead of Goku and Vegeta are just him getting chiropractic adjustments to work out the knots in his muscles and regain his full power. Again, a joke that I don't think is true, but, honestly, I could see Toriyama doing something like that.
5:45 Whis' comment on Goku being "70% of his strength" still tracks considering how bonkers strong people are at this point. The difference between 70% and 71% of Beerus' power is staggering because of high high power levels are at this point. It's like the difference between a millionaire and a billionaire, both are hella rich but one is insanely richer
I always took Beerus being nervous about SSJB the same as Frieza being worried about the potential of a Super Saiyan. He's still not as strong as Beerus but this makes Beerus see Goku's potential to exponentially grow and maybe one day surpass him
I kinda like all of these theories. I like the idea that he was waking up still, and he was always insanely strong. I also thought he had been using ultra ego to get stronger since it was introduced. My first thought was "That's why he has a purple aura when he's powered up"
Something with Beerus I think that throws people off is that his raw power level, whatever that might scale out to, is only part of the puzzle. Being a true God of Destruction, his ki is purely God ki. Even in the most “godly” forms the Saiyans have gotten so far, Ultra Instinct was basically intended as beyond just being about power or the nature of the ki (the manga kinda diluted that) and Ultra Ego has some God of Destruction Ki… keyword there being *some.* It also appears that the Hakai has destructive power that goes beyond a god’s sheer power, and so too does Beerus have destructive capabilities, as a true God of Destruction, that go beyond his raw power level. There is also the matter of how even when Goku was allegedly nearing a certain fraction of Beerus’ power in Battle of Gods, we later learn that Beerus has some extent of (limited) training in Ultra Instinct techniques. Though he struggles with it, and Goku later surpassed him in that area, this would be yet another factor that would have meant that if Goku had matched Beerus in that first encounter, Beerus still would have been on a whole other level. And if all else fails… “hakai!”
If you think about performance and real life effects you can see someone can be stronger but technique is very important too, sometimes you can be for certain stronger than someone but still be defeated so even in that way anyone can just have a different day and just BE inconsistent. There is always a grey area with anyone and every day is different
nah, it's just power creep. Toei and Toryiama never really plan things out. It's never been there style. Beerus was introduced as a villain to early in the story, that's the issue.
But I am glad it was retconned. Imagine if Goku surpass beerus, a couple of arcs he surpass whis and than what? He beat Zeno? What other villains could they introduce? Goku just erase 12 universes lol and win every fight. Like it would be the most boring series ever. If they do make him that strong it should be when the series end. It’s like when ash finally was the strongest trainer in the world they changed protagonist. So all the people mad that ash didn’t beat Cynthia back in Sinnoh should be grateful because otherwise they wouldn’t have had all the new seasons of ash journey. They would have changed the protagonist or stopped the series right there.
I concur with your thoughts on Beerus just being that powerful, but on a side note, if he is always in a state of ultra ego then that would mean he used both ultra ego and pseudo ultra instinct at the same time, which I think is a great way to explain his power even if it is a moving goalpost because by stacking these he can gain a huge amount of latent power.
my theory is that beerus's power increases with his universe, so it'll be impossible for someone within the same universe as beerus to be stronger than him (except whis)
I like the idea that Beerus is still waking up so isn't yet at his peak. Maybe also over time he becomes less grumpy. This discussion presents a what if idea. When a mortal's power reaches or surpasses a destroyer's, would their angel have to take action? In Belmonts case there are two candidates for the position of destroyer, with one having begun the process. Jiren is trusted to be a staunch ally, or at the very least seen as not being a rival. But what if Goku and/or Vegeta began approaching Beerus' level and both turned down an offer to become the next destroyer? While at first glance they're not a threat, the opposite in fact, the argument that they see him as a rival would be considered. So Whis or someone higher up explains that if that rivalry went too far, Beerus gets bumped off, then as a result their universe would fall into chaos. With no successor, there would be no one outside of Zeno to intervene. So either one of them agrees to take up the mantle or there will be a hakai with their names on it. Of course with Goku and Vegeta being who they are, they still refuse.
I understand there could be an actual lore reason but the only right answer is that super appear and it got pretty long, like, we cant say that this guy is stronger than goku because he was almost at beerus level, then the solution, we buff beerus, and then other guy appear and the same happend, but it has got to a ridicul level its funny seeing how beerus will appear to defeat the strongest in the arc, like he is going to clap frieza so hard thats its unthinkable
Sometimes the problem is people thinking only Goku, Vegeta or any other mc are allowed to grow in power and thinking others as just a limit for them to reach. It should have been safe to assume even with his status as GoD that Beerus still also trains with Whis. Even in Super Whis mentioned that Beerus still has not fully mastered ultra instinct, which means that is a goal in mind and there's no reason to assume his power would remain stagnant
9:54 something important to mention: toppo said „combat skills“. But combat skills ain’t the only tool in dragonball at all, we saw belmod using techniques where he destroyed some of the other destroyers (like the bubble) and this is not a combat skill. It’s very very likely that belmod would straight up hakai jiren or use the same technique on him as he did with the other destroyers and that would make sense
“I was using 80%. GG Goku”. “Actually that was 20%”. “You know what, I was actually using 0.0000001%, Shaggy was stronger!” “Oh man, kaioken! Impressive Goku, I am scared today but will laugh at how that is 0.000000000000000000001% of me”. “Wow Goku, your UI defeated Jiren. One who has DEFEATED HIS GOD! Jiren is literally presented as stronger than the clown yet now people talk like the clown God is actually one of the strongest destroyers actually. Making the “stronger than destroyer” overhype suck! The answer is that ITS A KIDD SHOW! THE WRITTERS DONT WANT IT TO END! SAIYANS DONT HAVE LIMITS BECAUSE THEY ARE COOL! SAIYANS DONT HAVE LIMITS BECAUSE WE WANT TO MAKE MORE MONEY!
Its not his job to do things, he’s a god… imagine a god doing laundry and basic bullshit, it makes him look weak as a god especially a destroyer plus if does all the work goku and vegeta wont get stronger and he wont have people to play with
The thing is, Ssg is a massive multiplier, my guess would be anywhere between 20,000x+. I dont think the God Scale is inconsistent, but i also dont believe it is meant to be viewed in a linear fashion. It took exponential growth for Goku to reach a "6" on the scale; what if it takes a similar amount of exponential growth to reach a point of being stronger than Beerus overall? SSG to SSB is a much smaller jump than SSJ3 to SSG. It might only be a 50x power boost like regular SSJ is. Goku and Vegeta might need to find a form that grants another 20,000x+ power boost on top of SSB to really rival/surpass Beerus.
Is Beerus’ Strength Inconsistent? Yes. Period. 16m video trying to say it isn't... but it just is. There's no real argument... All 3 continuities are consumed interchangeably now. First, all we had was 2 movies. Then we got the anime that we had to reconcile consistency with, and it wasent. Then we got the manga. Then the anime stopped, and the manga overtook the anime to the point that if you wanted to continue the story, you had to read the manga. Then 2 movies came out... and the whole thing is a mess! You have to consume all continuities now to get the full story, and when you do... all the inconsistencies are thrown in your face. Yes. Beerus is meant to be a goalpost. Not a moving one, but by necessity he became a moving goalpost. But he is still inconsistent. Where as Whis is not. Beerus is inconsistent because they keep using him and GoD's as measuring sticks with various comments, then ignore what was inferred as powers increase in order to keep him ahead.
I like the idea of his sleep and slowly powering up because he could be doing mental training like piccolo or freiza. He pretends to be super lazy and maybe he is but he can still be training
i think it makes the most sense that beerus just doesnt know his own limits, like when he says he's using a certain percentage of his power thats just the power that he knows/is familiar with. why else would he need a teacher if he knew the extent of his own power?
Beerus being in a constant state of ultra ego works quite well, since he can use false UI and Ultra ego he keeps his battle lust in check and remains calm, this allows him to constantly gain power.
I find it amusing that the idea that Beerus gets passively stronger essentially means G.O.Ds do a Broly. Also Beerus being able to beat Champa kinda makes perfect sense, especially in the anime. Vados states that Champa has been going against her advice and dietary care of him and it's having an impact on his stamina. This is actually seen on screen; he uses a ki charged shout to rouse a half asleep Beerus and becomes visibly exhausted in seconds, until he chugs a massive soft drink. He's sweating, hunched over and heavily panting at that moment. Not a good look for a destroyer or his angel. Beerus actually takes good care of himself, he does frequent exercise around his world(he's seen sprinting across planet, usually to chase Goku and Vegeta.😅), he has a good diet both on and off his planet, he has a sauna pool on his planet so has good health from that and he listens to his angel attendant, Whis's advice regularly. He's literally the exact opposite of Champa in every regard.
I like to think that whenever goku figures out how to use UI while he is in his blue form, that’s when he will surpass beerus, the blue form being enough to mostly match his power and UI being evasive enough to keep him from getting hit with an Haiki (destruction blast)
I just hope whenever it happens we get the most insane rematch fight ever surpassing Broly and Gogeta's fight in terms of how absurd it is with the animation. We already got the indication the tournament of power needed to be where it was or it would destroy a universe, with all the powers competing. Now imagine an end game goku vs 100 percent beerus and you got a cosmic light show like nothing else.
I think all the movies titled under *_Super_* were stated to be in the series continuity with the movies that are covered in episodes being exceptions... Which is just a Z movie and Res.F...
I really like the idea of Beerus being in a constant state of Ultra Ego. Makes a LOT of sense given Vegeta was interested in being a god of destruction.
There is one final theory on why he is still at the top, he just trains off screen whenever people get too close to his power and he’s a Frieza case where he gets exponentially stronger when he trains
For Anime Beerus, I took him being worried about Kaio Ken meaning that if Goku ever catches up to Beerus, Kaio Ken might be an issue If he ever matches Beerus, and then doubles it, that might be a tough fight
I like the theory that people keep saying others have surpassed Beerus because they’ve never seen Beerus go all out. The most power Goku saw Beerus use before fighting Broly was during the Battle of Gods stuff, so Goku was probably extrapolating where he thinks Beerus would be from there. But in reality Beerus was hardly trying at all there, so Goku has no frame of reference for the actual depths of his power That and the sleepy boi theory, I like that one. Add those 2 together and that’s my canon
Part of the problem I think is that ever since back in the early Z days people's heads have been forcefully twisted and indoctrinated into scouters. The fanbase is obsessed with precise exact power levels and stubbornly believes that whoever has the bigger number will always win a fight no matter what, no matter how much logic they need to twist to make that mindset work and how many feats and statements they need to ignore for it. Quite literally the very first fight in Z has Raditz with his higher power level losing to Goku and Piccolo. There's characters like Devilman and Moro who have magical powers that allow them win regardless of power level. There's the Androids who are strong enough to beat early Super Saiyans despite not having power levels of their own. There's Future Trunks powering up into a higher raw power level than Vegeta to fight Cell, only to get bodied because he sacrificed his speed. There's Captain Ginyu stealing Goku's body to win in their first encounter despite Goku being stronger. I could go on and on. The irony of the whole thing is that Scouters were used by Freeza's army and were part of him and his family's propaganda campaign to spread beliefs such as you being born the strongest you will ever be and nobody could ever hope to compare to the power of Freeza and King Cold. There are some basic truths that the lies are based on, but it's demonstrated time and time again that power levels aren't the most important factor in a fight and aren't a static unchanging thing. As Goku himself states, even a low class warrior can beat an elite if he trains hard enough. Super is an interesting point in the series because it's the point at which measuring characters by their exact power was finally dead and buried entirely. There's a very deliberate effort in Super to not scale anything precisely. We don't know how big of a multiplier Super Saiyan God is, we don't know if old guidebook multipliers for how strong Super Saiyan is still apply when stacking it on top to make Super Saiyan Blue. We don't know how much stronger forms like Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego are comparatively, we only get vague notions of newer forms being way stronger than what came before. This is not accidental. It acts as both a spiritual successor to Z and a return to form from back when a character growing in skill was highlighted more than just growing a number. The fanbase needs to stop assuming things such as that because guidebooks from back in the Z days scale Super Saiyan as a 50 times boost, that this makes Blue a 50 times boost over SSG. If this were true then a big chunk of Blue being used alongside SSG in the manga would make no sense. Blue is stronger, but it's clearly not 50 times stronger. It's not even a direct upgrade, as SSG has more speed. Beerus is as strong as he is because the raw numbers stopped mattering a long time ago, and factors such as mindset and skill took the forefront. Beerus is a destroyer. His mindset is entirely based around destruction. He is like the living embodiment of destruction. None of the other GoD's rival him in this one regard. His mind suits his purpose, and so he's the best at it. That's all there is to it. It's why Vegeta was able to unlock the Ultra Ego form at all to begin with, he started thinking more like a destroyer. It's why Vegeta can't unlock Ultra Instinct but Goku can. It's all about mentality and application. Balance between mind, spirit, and body. That is the core of what really matters, not what you would see if you could measure the characters with a scouter.
Hell nah, he IS a moving goalpost, theres no denying it, this dude was sweating over blue kaioken and now “true ultra instinct” is still a joke to him?? Fuck that, you shouldve posted this on april fools cause its just yapping
i've always had the thought of the G.O.D's having a 'transformation' like the hakaishin form Toppo used in the Tournament of Power but that power can't be used without a drawback like the G.O.D going full berzerk and destroying everything nearby with no control
Whis said quite plainly and several times. That you grow slower as you get stronger Every jump in power that weve seen so far, has been Smaller and smaller as they get stronger Not to mention, using 80 percent of his power doesnt mean he used it ON goku, just while fighting him, goku was passimg out while beerus was getting bored, at 80 percent. So he still outclassed him by quite alot. At 80 percent. Being generous and cutting it in half probably wouldve had a bruised goku and beerus, but its likely beerus would still win
You forgot to mention that cabba can easily one shot beerus. lol this was a really good video, it's interesting to see if goku and vegeta can eventually match him one day. First though, they gotta contend with black frieza.
i weirdly like the "sleepy" theory. it makes inconsistency really consistent, in a funny way. the funniest option tends to be right when it came to Toriyama >_>
Honestly I don’t mind if the gods get surpassed because it’s completely natural if you look at what Belmont is doing with the mortals. He’s going into retirement and training up his replacement. Jiren would have been that replacement if he wanted to. So if the rest of the gods can do the same then it makes sense that eventually the bar gets raised higher. Heck the whole point for the gods to exist is to grow stronger universes. Sort of like a garden except the healthiest plant helps trim the garden it grew in. Even Belmont and Beerus had the same “cheat code” to manage their universes by having mortals do the work for them by the Pride Troopers and Frieza Force respectively. Thus the base mortal level rising naturally. Although both are probably way too hands off for what they should be doing. At least before the ToP
Belmod? Didn't beerus lose his arm wrestling match to quitella? The rat that's the second strongest of the G.O.Ds? At least that's how I remember it but that's from the manga Edit : Ah yeah it's the manga version

That would actually make sense. It kinda sounds like something Toriyama would of written tbh.

All of his techniques are straight power multipliers. It's Dragon Ball.
Seems legit. He was shocked that Frieza lost a fight because he's likely aware of what Frieza is capable of if he ever applied himself
Goku logically is way stronger than beerus, hes just overly reconnected and buffed every arc when the writers want him to be
@TotallyCluelessGamer he's not smug OP he's just poorly written and overly retconned

It's not a theory it's facts Beerus and the Gods of Destruction have Ultra Ego it's their technique stated by Toyotarou.

Mortals have only ever seen Beerus playing around so far, but they might mistake that rough play for serious power just because he's too bloody strong.
this might just be the best explanation lmao
EXACTLY. Goku is an unreliable narrator because he has no idea what Beerus' full power looks like. He's never even injured Beerus
Beerus has lived for so long, so I guess that explains all his power. He isn't inconsistent or a goal post.😂 He's just 'him.'

I don't mind having mystery or waiting for a payoff but when its done like this I can only be so excited because Beerus barely does anything most of the time.
Lol literally, "Find out next time on Dragon Ball Super!"

Beerus being shocked about Kaio Ken is most likely just him being annoyed Goku held something back in their fight, considering he went so far as to act so Goku would use everything.
So pumped for this vid salad, I remember when you did the pole for this!
He's been a god of destruction for hundreds of millions of years. That should be all anybody needs to hear.
For real
It would be super weird if a couple of mortals surpass him by just training with Whis for a few years.
With the broly statement, it's Goku saying it and he probably doesn't know the full extent of berrus's power
That's what I was thinking. That Goku was basing this off of the times that Beerus has held back while fighting or possibly sparring with Goku
Boy, it would be really inconvenient if there was an exhibition match between all the gods where the Grand Priest orders everyone to fight all out or die right before in the prior arc.
@@spritvio639 Read it again, in that fight Goku clearly said "i cant see anything, i dont know what is happening and who is winning"
And then there is the Grand Priest.
I think Beerus is consistent and I see the 6, 10, 15 statement as more like this:
7 = 6^1.000.000, so a 6 must reach it's multiplied power 1 million times to reach a 7.
Anyway because of those 3 points I think it's all consistent and thus we all should continue having fun with the dragonball universe.
don't you love how they can just explain this away by saying "oh he was just holding back until this point Lul"
GET THIS GOD A COFFIE MACHINE.
Bruv, the Broly fight happens b4 the Moro arc, its not a different continuity, you js forgot.
It also makes plenty of sense if you think about it too.
my theory is that beerus is so powerfully that only whis and beerus can fully grasp how strong he is, like an iceberg, goku and vegeta are only seeing whats out of the water

This video is mastered rather quietly.
I need to max out my volume just to hear you decent. I checked other videos and they seem fine.
Maybe instead of napping hes training to keep his spot as the strongest
Salad Saiyan discussion content I’m seated
The Broly movie is apart of the anime
I think a lot of the inconsistencies come from the fact that it's incredibly difficult to actually get a sense of the power of a good unless you are approaching that level yourself.
Normal people, even kais, just have to guess about beerus's strength since his true limit is never seen.
A vague power level is a moving goalpost, almost in the most literal way you can make it. Surpassing him is a goal, and one that can be moved to remain out of reach until the plot needs that goal to be met. There may be good reasons for keeping it that way, but it doesn't change what it is.
My headcanon with Beerus consists of two things:
He's been using whatever percentage of power he needs to defeat whatever enemy he has.
That isn't how proportions work.
@@xyzza2928maybe it’s logarithmic not linear
@@xyzza2928like the decibels. 120 decibels is ten times more than 110 decibels instead of 10% more.
Beerus gets stronger in his sleep 🗿
That would be wild
The fact that he can slap Bulma without pulverizing her proves that he can suppress his power very well
If you think about performance and real life effects you can see someone can be stronger but technique is very important too, sometimes you can be for certain stronger than someone but still be defeated so even in that way anyone can just have a different day and just BE inconsistent.
Misunderstanding Beerus is only an issue with American fans. Prove me wrong.
Of course with Goku and Vegeta being who they are, they still refuse.
arale instantly scales infinitely above all of this
I understand there could be an actual lore reason but the only right answer is that super appear and it got pretty long, like, we cant say that this guy is stronger than goku because he was almost at beerus level, then the solution, we buff beerus, and then other guy appear and the same happend, but it has got to a ridicul level its funny seeing how beerus will appear to defeat the strongest in the arc, like he is going to clap frieza so hard thats its unthinkable
I’m confident that Beerus was made specifically to piss off powerscalers and I’m all here for it
9:54 something important to mention: toppo said „combat skills“.
Yes, Belmod putting all the Gods in a bubble is a COOKING SKILL!!!😮😮😮
“I was using 80%. GG Goku”.
“Actually that was 20%”.
“You know what, I was actually using 0.0000001%, Shaggy was stronger!”
“Oh man, kaioken!
I blame all that Earth food giving Beerus a boost in energy.
If Beerus were to get surpassed, he'd become obsolete.💀💀
He already is,he hasn't done anything
Beerus is already obsolete. His ass doesn’t do ANYTHING
11 years. Danm I was just left High School when I was able to catch Battle of Gods. I still remember when he was called Bills.
I like the idea of his sleep and slowly powering up because he could be doing mental training like piccolo or freiza. He pretends to be super lazy and maybe he is but he can still be training
"F*ck powerlevels, f*ck super saiyan, and f*ck u" legendary quote
i think it makes the most sense that beerus just doesnt know his own limits, like when he says he's using a certain percentage of his power thats just the power that he knows/is familiar with. why else would he need a teacher if he knew the extent of his own power?
Beerus is so strong that even after goku surpassed beerus, beerus is stronger
People forget Beerus fought several gods of destruction at the same time before the tournament of power without breaking a sweat.
For Anime Beerus, I took him being worried about Kaio Ken meaning that if Goku ever catches up to Beerus, Kaio Ken might be an issue
If he ever matches Beerus, and then doubles it, that might be a tough fight
I like the theory that people keep saying others have surpassed Beerus because they’ve never seen Beerus go all out. The most power Goku saw Beerus use before fighting Broly was during the Battle of Gods stuff, so Goku was probably extrapolating where he thinks Beerus would be from there. But in reality Beerus was hardly trying at all there, so Goku has no frame of reference for the actual depths of his power
That and the sleepy boi theory, I like that one.
Wasn't he sweating over kaioken because it was a rapid power increase form blue? He never knew Goku had that trick up his sleeve.
@@SamiulHaque-dz8miyea goku always waits til the last minute and how could he not be upset? If they lose even beerus cant stop xeno destroying him
i've always had the thought of the G.O.D's having a 'transformation' like the hakaishin form Toppo used in the Tournament of Power but that power can't be used without a drawback like the G.O.D going full berzerk and destroying everything nearby with no control
Whis said quite plainly and several times. That you grow slower as you get stronger
Every jump in power that weve seen so far, has been Smaller and smaller as they get stronger
Not to mention, using 80 percent of his power doesnt mean he used it ON goku, just while fighting him, goku was passimg out while beerus was getting bored, at 80 percent.
At least that's how I remember it but that's from the manga
Edit : Ah yeah it's the manga version
