This video game was released in Japan in 2003 and it summarizes the 1982 Macross anime and the1984 'Do You Remember Love' movie. English translation by Taskforce23.
The story mode has two versions, if you choose Prometheus at the start you play on the 12-mission campaign based on the events of the original anime. However if you choose ARMD-01 you get the 8-mission campaign based on the Macross movie.

@@commmander64 well if an ace combat pilot did really entered the Macross universe honestly they would be more shocked than oh this is normal, for Macross pilots yes this is normal. SDF Macross and DYRL pilots having to face a 10 million warships strong all having fighters ranging to the 100 thusand plus per ship Zentradi fleet and that is a normal size fleet. Plus that fleet is just a sub fleet to the total number of Zentradi fleets around the milkyway.
Macross 7 had to face another super fleet of brainwashed humans from one of their own colony fleets againt a super modified Zentradi species which took no notable damage from any physical attack not even the Macross Cannon which is not really called a super weapon when each colony fleet has a Macross battle class aircraft carrier. That can wipe out a almost 80% of a enemy fleet ranging to the millions plus at only 50%, I call it a get out of jail free card weapon.
Then Macross Frontier they had to face the Vajra which is not just a galactical ancient space fearing insect race but a universal one, 1 hive consisting to trillions to quadrillions of Vajra all capable of one shooting a warship, that is just one hive in one Galaxy. Each Galaxy has a Vajra hive.
The UN's or NUN'S have experienced it all. Nukes are not really the main threats in Macross it's more of your whole race gets iradicated from exsistance type of super weapons and alien races. Nukes became a normal ordinance that they like to throw around all the time. just like normal AA missiles attached to modern aircraft.
When most of the super weapons are death star planet lasers (actually 8, 7 grand cannons built on earth in each major continent, and one on the moon.)A bomb that can crack a planet in half, A Demensional Eater bomb (basically a black hole bomb, a time machine that can change historical events, sometimes a rouge Ai that brainwashed planet earth. A battleship that has a machine capable of brainwashing the entire Galaxy with just a song.
Nukes, an aircraft submarine, a flying drone hub, or a cannon arry that shoots physical rounds to take out Asteroids, invisible flying airships. Don't really match up well when Macross has those but better and bigger and stronger and are more efficient and faster and are mass produced, not no one time super weapon or WMD's and have has experience of these thing for more than 65 years their space colonisation and exploration and have always been considered the weak ones out of most of the alien races in Macross.

You know, this is probably one of the coolest licensed games I've ever seen. It's Ace Combat ramped up past Electrosphere to sci-fi heights never imagined before its time! Congrats on playing through it!

I bought a Japanese PS2 a few years ago because I got this game 8 years ago and I was dying to play it. Did not disappoint.
Ngl, this Macross game is practically realistically better than the newer ones
Newer Macross Game has easier control. Especially in GERWALK mode control, we can maintain its agility since evading with booster is quicker and easier.
Meanwhile in this ps2 game, GERWALK control is whoa, slow and sitting duck. Better counting on our 100% missile evading technique while GERWALK (shake analog to the left, then turn to the right quickly and vice versa.)
@@yan8191 that's why i say it's better, it felt more like realistic Armored Core-ish control rather than Gundam Arcade movement

Such a fantastic game for such an awesome series.
While the controls are not as friendly as the PSP titles, this is the best Macross/Robotech game out there. Sure, later ones look better, but come on, this is the story of the Macross itself, Hikaru, Misa, all of our faves. Such a fantastic and epic game for the PS2, some games nowadays pale in comparison.
I have Macross M3 for Dreamcast and absolutely loved it, even though I don't know Japanese. There are so many more games like this that I missed out on because regions.

Zentradi fleet. It takes the covenant months to glass a planet where the zentradi can do it in a day.

While Boddle main fleet in this game have 4,795,122 of combat ships, the only thing I can find similar to the nature of this battle is Halo Forerunner-Flood War's Final Battle of the Maginot Sphere. Including the rampant and flood-controlled metarch-level Forerunner artificial intelligence Mendicant Bias led core fleet of 1,000 and 4,802,019 of additional support fleet, totaling 4,803,019 vessels. While remaining Forerunners have about 10,000 of combat vessels, and the Flood outnumbered the Forerunner ships by 436.6:1, although much less than 3500:1. However, not all of these ships are combat ships, as quoted by Offensive Bias another Metarch level that Forerunners built against Mendicant Bias with only 1.8% being warships while from those 1.8% only 2.4% are capital ship. Offensive Bias exploited Mendicant's rage, bought time for Halo Rings to fire, after was outnumbering Mendicant's fleet by 6:1 as most of the others were destroyed by the Halo firing.

Late reply here, he became Purple Leader. He started as Roy Focker's subordinate then got his own team. We the player play as him, not Hikaru.
