  • I'm replacing my water inlet valve on my Maytag washing machine model number MWT5800TWO. This video is for informational purposes only and is not intended to be an instructional, "How to" video. I'm just showing others how I have accessed the water inlet valve in my machine. If you found this video helpful please give it a thumbs up and subscribe and tap the notification bell icon for future videos. Thanks for watching!
Maytag is owned by Whirlpool, so there may also be other model number machines with the same (or similar) design.

You are the exact reason that I uploaded this video. It took me several hours to identify the mechanism and I figured if it takes me 45 minutes to save even one person that frustrating time, it's worth it. Thanks for your comment!

@@ScottWConvid19 Very helpful. The only video I found that opened this model. Subsequently, I found one that mentioned the spatula trick but didn't show you. I really appreciate the time you spent to share this.

      Hi Scott ...
Thx to your VIDEO here, I'm close to completing the replacement of my defective water inlet valve (WIV) on my old Mytag ... I just need a few more tips please ...
I've just replaced the old WIV with the new one ... BTW, my unit looks to be virtually identical to the washer here in your video ... here's the big question ...
Does it matter which of the wires are attached to the celluloid prongs? One has a white plastic casing and the other is red ... does it matter which prong the red one is attached to?
Also, just as shown here in your video, there are also two smaller wires that must be re-attached to prongs on the neck of the WIV ... does it matter here also?
Is there a way to re-attach the wires incorrectly? ... if so, could I damage the machine?
Your thoughts please, thx much, Doug

There are a couple of areas in the video where I was looking into the screen to work, rather than looking directly at my work, so it's kind of humorous to see me not able to use a screwdriver and a wrench.. oh well, I'm new to this video creation platform, so there's a learning curve.

Thank you for this. I was trying to figure out how to do this and it worked perfectly. Can you tell me, when parts have revision b, c, d, etc.. even if the part number changes, does that mean it was the same part they just improved in some way? I called maytag and they gave me 3 different part numbers for the same part with one of them being "the most recent". I couldn't find it so I used the next oldest part number and it was different from the one installed but looked the same!

I would recommend checking the manufacturer's website for their part number and then finding the aftermarket part somewhere else like ebay, Amazon or a parts store. I wouldn't normally recommend dissing a manufacturer like that, but Maytag screws their customers by designing their appliances to be able to monopolize the service of them, so that's what they deserve. 😂

Criticism isn't usually very welcomed in modern culture. You seem to know what you're doing in mycology and microscopy. You seem to be a bit macrodosed (on something) in your videos, usually laughing when nothing is funny, very flightly in your monologs and you appear to want to show off your fruits more than you care to help anyone. 4:49 It IS possible and "learning how to use your microscope" is NOT the solution. Learning exactly what a monokaryon and a dikaryon LOOKS LIKE under a microscope, is what people want to know. I'm thinking that you may either be disinterested in making that video or just not motivated to do so, but to say it's not possible and claim that people need to learn how to use their microscope is not only untrue, but very deflective of you to even say. It would be much better to just say "I don't want to make those kind of videos, I just want to showcase my accomplishments" instead of brushing it off as impossible.
