You are the exact reason that I uploaded this video. It took me several hours to identify the mechanism and I figured if it takes me 45 minutes to save even one person that frustrating time, it's worth it. Thanks for your comment!

Hi Scott ... Thx to your VIDEO here, I'm close to completing the replacement of my defective water inlet valve (WIV) on my old Mytag ... I just need a few more tips please ... I've just replaced the old WIV with the new one ... BTW, my unit looks to be virtually identical to the washer here in your video ... here's the big question ... Does it matter which of the wires are attached to the celluloid prongs? One has a white plastic casing and the other is red ... does it matter which prong the red one is attached to? Also, just as shown here in your video, there are also two smaller wires that must be re-attached to prongs on the neck of the WIV ... does it matter here also? Is there a way to re-attach the wires incorrectly? ... if so, could I damage the machine? Your thoughts please, thx much, Doug

You are welcome. I'm actually pretty stoked that this has been a help to a lot more people than I ever thought it would. Thanks so much for taking the time to video and post your steps. I have a very similar model with a leaking water inlet apparatus. I would recommend checking the manufacturer's website for their part number and then finding the aftermarket part somewhere else like ebay, Amazon or a parts store. I wouldn't normally recommend dissing a manufacturer like that, but Maytag screws their customers by designing their appliances to be able to monopolize the service of them, so that's what they deserve. 😂
