I haven't replaced a mixing valve since around 1995. I remembered it being one of the easy tasks but this well done video has me ready to start. Thank you so very much. The way you showed the steps of removal AND replacement so well and so well narrated the steps many who put how to videos on RUclips for anything could learn from this. Thank you again.

Absolutely outstanding instructions! Comprehensive, clear and simple. It took me about 10 minutes but would have taken me hours if left to my own research. You saved me quite a bit of green as well. Thanks!

before buying a new valve, check that the flood prevention stopper in your metal braided washer hose isn't stopping the water from entering your washing machine. Mine was and all I had to do was disconnect the hose from the washer and supply pipe and reverse the ends. The end that goes on the supply pipe is marked on the hose with a tag. The stiffer end goes on the supply. Mine was reversed. I discovered this after I ordered the part but before I put it on.

The easiest way to test the inlet valve is to start filling the washer, then unplug the power cord. The washer should stop filling. If it continues filling, the inlet valve is bad.

All I did was move the washer and the lower (hot) on my Maytag PAV2300AWW started leaking. The screen was clogged with black junk. Cleaned it out, bought a new hose, and it still leaks! I think the hot water side of the valve is clogged. I'll have to swap the valve it seems straight-forward.

Thanks for the video! We are getting hot water coming out of several taps ( kitchen, bathrooms and laundry sink ). Plumber said Maytag washer is the culprit? We confirmed this by shutting off both hot and cold water supply to washer, no more hot water coming through the cold side on all taps? Question: What part would need replacing? Washer is a 1994 Vintage, runs great up until Covid 2021, Model LAT9704ABE ( Canada ) Thank you in advance.

Thx to your VIDEO here, I'm close to completing the replacement of my defective water inlet valve (WIV) on my old Mytag ... I just need a few more tips please ...
I've just replaced the old WIV with the new one ... BTW, my unit looks to be virtually identical to the washer here in your video ... here's the big question ...
Does it matter which of the wires are attached to the celluloid prongs? One has a white plastic casing and the other is red ... does it matter which prong the red one is attached to?
Also, just as shown here in your video, there are also two smaller wires that must be re-attached to prongs on the neck of the WIV ... does it matter here also?
Is there a way to re-attach the wires incorrectly? ... if so, could I damage the machine?
Your thoughts please, thx much, Doug

My washer is sometimes filling up with water on it’s own. I.e. we’ll go to do a load of laundry and it’s got water in it. We have to use the since cycle to get it to go out. Does anyone know if this video will fix this issue?

Luis Piamba I changed my water inlet valve myself a couple weeks ago after watching this video to know what to do, and it fixed my problem. I checked daily for a while just to make sure, but I haven’t even had a drop of water in the bin since changing it, and before that there was always between a splash of water and it being half way full of water that I would have to spin out. I’m very glad I changed it! I ordered my part and the tools needed off amazon.

I have been having this problem with a maytag top fill washer. Due to what I read online replacing the valves should fix the problem. That's why I am here trying to figure out how to do it before I buy the part.

Simply depressing the clip is not as easy as it looks the first time you try it.
AND, my Maytag the top is bolted down but the front pops off. Took me 1/2 an hour and a lot of swearing

I might have the same Maytag. two screws near the bottom of the front panel takes that off and then there are two screws with 3/8 heads that let the top lift back.
