To be fair, that's exactly something I would have done.
2:40 actually, yes. That's a good idea. If your goal is to make a car secure for 10 seconds, take i up a notch, go for 8s, then tune the engine down for 10s. In my club, most of the cars that haven't changed much in decades in some cases, are cars that were fixed for much higher speeds (and certifications) than what they're even allowed on the track in the first place. Want something reliable, that's the way to go. It will also be cheaper overall. You break less if your engine isn't on the cusp 99.9% of its operation.

The fastest I've ever been was 9.06 at 154. That was in a 91 Mustang with a twin T66 393. It takes A LOT to go 8s. Then again, that was about 20 years ago.
While tech has gotten better, make no mistake that it still takes a helluva lot to make it happen. I envy you for even flying around in the 9s. One of these days I'll have enough money to build me a little road missile like that!

Jared, you said there was a dry ice shortage, for the sound deadening removal, quick tip, if you get some Co2 fire extinguishers (maybe that are due of testing) and empty them into a medium trash can with a lid, you put the discharge horn into the can and put the lid on hold it down with your foot and empty them, you will have formable dry ice, caution don't touch the can when you take some out to use as the static electricity generated from emptying will give you a zap.

Next time that you need to remove the rubber sound denting from the floors or trunk, try using dry ice. It cracks apart leaving you with clean painted surfaces.

I've had cutoff disks explode on me too. If you're uninjured afterward put it down and work on something else for a few days.. it's not worth it.

There is really only one thing required to run 8's. MONEY.
the amount of power you need to go from 10 seconds to 8 seconds or even 8 to 7 or 7 to 6 is insane and also rather exponential but arguably very fun.
3-4 s is just straight up a jet engine
@@prathameshpawaskar4136 yeah it's insane, I think about 5.5 seconds almost requires 4500 Horsepower
@@prathameshpawaskar4136 at least a jet engine wont spin the tires. In a car 2,000 hp is fast but you need to be able to keep traction. Cleatus has to turn his car down to win.
The power issue is where the power comes in then getting it to the ground effectively. It's why electric cars have rather ridiculous acceleration with relatively low power (.76 kw per horsepower) maximum torque at 0 rpm and being able to electronically control wheel spin.
I'm old enough (barely) to remember the top theoretical speed of a dragster was like 176 mph and somewhere around 6 seconds calculated at 1g acceleration. Of course tires which are "sticky" allow more than 1 g.
I'm not arguing that you need an insane amount of power with an ICE but a lot is wasted trying to get it to the ground to actually do work. If the weights were equal and you could get the amps needed fast enough you could do the same 8 sec with a motor with maybe 600hp?

I have had cut off wheels explode as a single piece like that before. It's from having it flex as it goes around you weekend the inside edge right by where it's being held.
We were doing one project and it just kept happening over and over and we thought it was just neat because it would just spin around there when it broke off instead of flying out.
Until one flew out as a whole piece. It embedded itself in the drywall like a ninja star.
After that we switched to using the sawzall for what we were doing. We probably should have been using the sawzall the whole time because it actually went quicker too.
Love the music choice
Rather than an abrasive cut off wheels in tight areas where you may have a side load use the diamond grit metal cutting wheels. They can't explosively break, and they work well.
I use them for cutting 6" schedule 80 pipe vertically set (bollards) with battery 4 1/2 " grinders with no issues.
Safety first ya know.

I like to use dewalt cut off wheels. I’ve tried the cheap hobo freight type of cut off wheels for me at least they seem to last half as long and are twice as dangerous
