Lately I've been noticing that you're putting in a lot of hard work and effort to the channel and the builds. Keep it going man. Much love
That's because it's just him now and the channel is better for it. 👍✌️
@@abritabroadinthephilippines its still Tavarish Chanel right?
@@Exstaz I'm pretty sure Tavarish has a different channel
The magic is also in the editing. I've noticed that there are channels with dedicated editors and then there's the ones that just point and shoot + cut & compile + slap music on top. And of course some channels are ran by talented multitasking individuals with very good editing skills. My gripes on something like Tavarish and Cleetus channels are those age old montage music tracks.
Of course there is a million ways to make good content and it doesn't need to be "pro" or super film quality stuff with camera runs, moving time lapses and multi camera setups. And when one does these things as a living, I very much understand the time constraints and how it may affect the outcome and the content.
I really like when channels show the reality and the hard times, their own mistakes, mishaps and their learning along the way. Also making some sort of stand about things related to the content and especially ideas of how to overcome them or change the flawed things in a broader viewpoint is very good to see and hear.
Jared's starting to come into his own as a host. Keep up the awesome work Jared!
I've watched quite a lot of videos from various engine builders including Freiburger explaining camshafts and variations and this is the first time it's actually clicked for me. Thanks for getting the basics down to a level I understand, it's made a big difference.
This is the video i was waiting for, i had some great laughs watching Jared being Jared on that VGG special! 🤣
That was entertaining.
You could supercharge it and fit a ram air intake out the hood. And you should clear coat it to preserve it better too.
this👆
yup a nice satin clear would be mint
I was just thinking about that. I don't have the kind of disposable income right now in my life to buy and build something like this, but I can see things changing on that front in 2 or 3 years.
I'd love to try to replicate this sort of build with an older chevy pickup, LS swap and build the motor, then throw a supercharger in the engine bay and just have an incredible toy.
@@gmailisaretard Yeah, We'll all have more money once we get these damn commies out of power 👍
This video is a textbook example of the consequences of making questionable choices. You DESTROYED that engine Jared! :D
When I was a kid, I lived in a neighborhood that was on the far side of an underpass that liked to flood every spring. The number of people who ignored the warning signs, tried to shoot that underpass, and ended up with very broken vehicles never ceased to amaze.
Johny is back!!!! Jared i take my hat to you, you doing a lot in this channel lately and this is becoming one of the best car channels on RUclips. Keep going.
I've been waiting on this a long time, poor Johnny, don't forget to drain the trans and check the diffs. Love the channel keep up the good work
Holy cow Jared, You are literally the next town over. I'm in Murrayville. Glad to be your neighbor. Love this truck!
As much as I enjoy watching cars restored or “built”, there’s something special about two vehicles that were never meant to share components coming together to make something that to me is far cooler, and arguably better than either of the original vehicles ever were
My favorite engine masters episode was either air filter testing, or header bash...the amount of dents in the pipe before it lost power was just incredible.
Salad bowl FTW.
Awesome demonstrations, Jared. For those who don’t understand hydrolocking, the syringe example was very clear and helpful. I made my wife watch it twice.
I think Jared could have taken it just a little further, explaining that while one cylinder may contain incompressible fluid (such as pond water!) which dead-stops the piston from moving up, the other cylinders are still firing and trying to make the crankshaft and flywheel continue their rotation. It's a kind of 'irresistible force meets immovable object' scenario - SOMETHING is inevitably going to break! That something is most often the connecting rod of the hydro-locked cylinder. The same concept applies even to hydro-locked single cylinder engines (such as on dirt bikes etc.), due to the rotational inertia of the crankshaft and heavy flywheel.
Man dude, I feel like I am watching a legit TV show, mad props
THATS HOW I LOST MY FIRST ENGINE IN MY FIRST CAR. I was driving my 1982 Supra with cold air intake across country and got caught in a downpour in Oklahoma. Exited the freeway and ended up in a lake. I flipped the key off as soon as possible but not soon enough. Bent a rod. Kept driving and made it another 80 miles before it finally let loose and went through the block in 3 places and that ended my trip.
oof
I know its long gone, but for anyone else in this sort of situation (Need to nurse it home not blewed up) - pull each plug one by one and listen for the one that changes the knock volume the most. Then pull that plug and run it open air. Might be more porblematic on some engines with weak threads (ford 2v 5.6's) . In that case, just pull the ignition cable and run a cylinder down. Also, throw whatever oil honey you can in there like lucas, because its already... far gone. But you need to get it home.
@@frjhracing Ya... if I'd pulled that plug I might made it further. But the rod was hitting the skirt each time it came around so I guess it woulda let go sooner or later no matter what. When it finally did... it went through the block in 3 places... including through the steering rack, lol.
Yeah lost my vette... To a puddle... Dam..
Hate to post on an old video, but I hadn't seen this one before. What a fantastic demonstration of hydrolock! I learned of this issue with motorcycles, rather than swimming trucks. Failure of a gravity-fed petcock combined with a stuck open needle valve will fill a cylinder with fuel. Ya might not blow a hole in the block, but certainly a con-rod or worse! Great content you have here, even if your choices are questionable. 👍
so basically, Jared needs to stick a snorkel intake on this truck.....
I love the look of the truck. Glad you got it back on the road.
Your work ethic is excellent. Thanks for great content
Love the professor Jared sections. Simple enough to follow I'm really great information. Keep up the great builds and great content
Charger ute: "Who's the roadblock NOW?!"
I love this truck, and remember the things that were done with Vice Grip Derek, and the crew. So sorry to see the damage to the LS.
Wrench Everyday and Roadkill collaboration. Sounds like a good cold beer to me!💯🇧🇸
I think we all can agree to see the effort you put in your videos, keep doing it! Definitely not the regular car channel, but way better
Add a snorkel to the new motor so that when you drive through rusty ackers you don’t fill the engine with water lol
I was hoping to see the 71 international boat conversion kit that would completely eliminate this problem.
Maybe Smyth Performance can make a kit that converts an International truck into an AquaUte :)
very impressed the engine went in and out of the top, great work as always Jared
Love the wee education segments... For someone who knows barely anything about the internals of engines its super interesting!
Hello again Jared and James
Thank you for another Great Video. Off topic comment. When I was about twelve to fourteen years old. I was helping a bunch of kids with muscle cars.
I was helping. When one of the kids decided to wash the engine and bay. I remember a lot of cussing and tthey tried to start the engine. The engine did not sound right. This was before fuel injection. Again thank you
Trucks and trucks and trucks! What a “trucking” awesome new direction you’ve been “steering” the channel towards! Now you just need one of those mini-trucks with a dancing bed on air suspension that drops the frame all the way onto the ground (and to all of those who don’t think they’re cool, you can just truck off because I’m right and you’re wrong!) and you’ll have a complete street truck collection! Might I suggest the final body style S-10 stepside (I believe that’s a 94-04 right)? The one with the rounded fenders? Those always look super cool when slammed! Keep up the great work!
Jared would make an excellent automotive teacher at like a high school tech school
Jared is by far the best automotive youtuber
Getting those late 90s/ early 2000s vibes, reminds me of the shows on speed vision back in the day. Great content.
That Guy dep't: In physics, "fluid" encompasses both liquids and gases, the latter of which compress just fine. It's basically a catch-all term for non-solids (technically speaking, any substance with zero shear resistance).
Less technically, I'd just like to note that I have an artistic appreciation for the contrast between the (sorta-)shiny modern engine and that utterly rust-encrusted brake servo. :)
really cool you got Johnny back running after taking a dip in Dereks pond!!
I love that you got Johnny running again. I like that you got the new Mechanic Midget not a bad name, but usually James is a name reserved for a driver.
'Water Doesn't Compress It Just Breaks Stuff'... J.Pink
Johnny is most definitely a mid-engine truck! Don’t pay attention to the haters.
Keep up the great work.
Might I suggest installing some kind of air box that will protect the engine from intrusions from undesirable substances.
Awesome to see it running again. Someone please send this man some wheels!!
That thing is fun. One of my favorite RUclips builds ever.
I like the channel you have a lot of work to do. I think you're jumping around to fast and it messes with learning what I have trouble with my truck
Yo thanks for the shirt an the glass lol.... Awesome comfortable shirt an awesome design
This genius.
I am in my one room, rebuilding an a960e valve body.
All you, Uncle.
Best.
Line lock. And maybe a snorkel...
Love it! Nice work.
Great video. Love the speed up segments showing the full process. Would be neat to see a few timestamps to show what the real world time spent on a project like this is.
That's actually full speed, Jared is a machine..
I'd suggest a repaint...for that left side front fender. It would be cool to try to replicate the look of the rest of the car ;)
much respect to a person that does everything himself
At 20:50, Johnny's bladder got flatter!! Mine wants to do that when I'm asleep - forcing me out of slumber and into my bathroom. Great video again you two maestros!
As they’d say on the I Do Cars channel, you’ve had some malice in the combustion palace leading to some piston McNuggets! Nice job on the replacement and a nice science lesson too. Thanks!
I was coming here to make that comment, thought I was watching an I do cars vid half way through lol.
That intro is really sounding like PowerNation. Love it. 😎
Wow. Amazing explanation....you are a natural teacher too. If I was a young apprentice I would want you to be my teacher..Jarod you are my favorite auto youtuber. Keep up the good works....also I bet you never swear or blaspheme.
Jared: "Engines dont run on water very well"
Some hillbilly in the mountains with a SBC and a rusty old pickup: "oh really? Jimbob, hold my moonshine"
I liked the use of the push bumper on the new truck being used to move the dead pickup inside.
Well explained jared. It helps to wrench every day ☺️
It is amazing you do most of this all yourself. This is a REALLY cool truck.
I’ve learned a lot about piston fire and why dragsters have flame coming out of the zoomies. I haven’t seen FRIEBURGRRS video on the same subject so your video
has taught me a lot.
I only wish the drivers fender matched better otherwise I agree with leaving it without paint. Great truck and project!!! Jared never disappoints
I would red oxide it
You've got lots of room on top of the engine for a supercharger. You know you wanna.
You have awesome channel. You have the best personality and attitude. You truly love what you do.
Love the hard work, it really shows. What a cool truck this is, congrats
Litlle correction if you don't mind Jared....at 17:17....air is indeed a fluid....fluids can compress, liquids don't.
While all liquids are fluids, not all fluids are liquids.
Fluids comprise liquids, gasses and plasmas.
It's just semantics but i'd like to clarify before people start scratching their heads :-).
I am so old, I watched them build the pyramids. Well it feels like it, that said... my enjoyment came from watching how that pan works with the pump and noticing a single roller timing chain. I have always thought that a single was plenty heavy to handle a camshaft turning around. I didn't pay enough attention to when it went in, if it had a tensioner on the cam chain... assuming that it does in some way that reduces the slack in the chain and affecting the timing. Never got to tear down one of those LS engines. Lucky for us kids that the LS engine is widely available for other applications. What I did see was a pan that would work with a dry sump pretty well. Or you can turn it on its side and still get oil to that pump. Not too sure on how well this type of engine would take to doing the hydrogen fuel application as those injectors need a liquid to open. I have made several hydrogen engine set ups on older engines and they really do run extremely well. Power wise, not quite as much as gasoline engines but mileage in the range of three hundred miles per gallon of water thats broken into hydrogen and oxygen... not the hydrolocking fluid that removes pieces from a engine. That cam you used for this engine would really work well for hydrogen is a guess of mine. I wish I could still walk around... these engines fascinate me. I have a bunch of ideas that would just be grand for myself to build, as I too enjoy the natural look a old rig has worked hard for. I am not much into fake patina but some of them look good. Nice job of explaining stuff, I do have questions but just don't know how to word them. 73 is just a whole different world to this gen talk
A1 demonstration of cam lobes, hydrolocking and the dangers of it. I love the build and the choice of engine. I wanna cam out my 5.3l Tahoe now!
Good to see Johnny back alive! I saw the show when the unfortunate incident happened and the cringe was real.
I question the person's "questionable choices" if they didn't blow at least two engines every five years. You can either play it safe, or play it up. No can do, both.
Jarred, it’s ok. You were a couple drinks deep and decided Johnny wanted a drink too. All good, glad he’s coming back! :)
Good explanation and demo. I didn't know what hydro lock was.
I missed seeing the videos of 'Ol Jonny Rev being built up. Atleast we'll get to see a motor overhaul now!
Funny I never really put together that water doesn't compress, which is why fuel injectors atomize the fuel to mix with air so it can compress to create combustion. Thanks for the lesson!
I'm really hoping that you will be able to arrange for Derek (VGG) and hopefully Eric? and Mook (Junkyard Diggs/Mook) to come down to help get Earl up and running!
This would be a great Winter project, since I hear that it doesn't get that cold in Georgia.
Maybe add THUNDERHEAD289 and DylanMcCool as well just for fun...
Best hydro lock explanation ever. Might be good to show that oil is compressible as well. But fantastic.
You mean that oil is INcompressible as well...
@@snirtman7223 well diesel is mostly oil and it compresses explosively (obviously mixed with air)
Absolutely loved the ‘engine talk’ part of the video. Nice! Be well.
I never comment on your videos but I enjoy them more than most. Keep on keeping on👍🏿😎
You know what Johnny Reb is missing? A big ol supercharger like on Rocky the Blazer on Cleetus's channel.
Air is a fluid as well. Liquids don't compress ;)
Actually that's not fully correct either: as a uni professor used to joke "it's not true that water doesn't compress, in fact it halves in volume at JUST 50.000 bar!" XD
Apart from all that, it's really nice to see Johnny revving again and harder then ever!
I used to see hydrolocking often when I worked on boats. Most as a result of improper Winter storage and the heat exchange units would crack from freezing and suck in water the first time the boat was started up in the Spring.
Good job. I was surprised that you didn't paint the motor while you had the chance
When I saw that engine bay I was like 🙃 Soo much room for activities 🤣
HA. Crappy day at work but getting a piece of Roadblock today made it all better :P I didn't think I was getting one because I thought it would come with the shirt :P Thanks guys. I wasn't even sad I didn't get one, but it certainly made my day better
Good illustration with the serenges.
Good work gentlemen, made it look easy!
Its great to see Jonny back on the road, awesome video Jared, 👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘
Johnny is looking great and sounding great! 👍 Matt.
Jared breaks and fix so many engines. LoL I guess this is why he wrench everyday
I really like what you're doing there! Even the destruction of an engine so we don't have to do it :D
Best tunes on YT along with the best projects
For the spills, why not use something like a bentonite clay kitty litter instead of the mop? That way all you do is dump the kitty litter on whatever fluid, wait a bit, and sweep it up.
Very good demonstration Jared! I would say (as someone who taught college level physics labs) what helps with these quick descriptions / demonstrations is just pure memorization, so if you have a script of exactly what you want to say, it'll make what you want sound easier to digest. Other than that, looks great as always!
Glad Johnny lives again!
I also love the look as is. I mean if you could get the body guy again to make it perfect and paint it on the cheap for some video content, that wouldn't be bad either but as he sits, love it. You're lucky you're not in the north east, that truck would be swiss cheese
I plan to watch this again and do a shot for every time he says "Water/liquid will not compress". Wish me luck.
Waiting for the 300zx build... Corvette powahh
love it you don't get to sit in the engne compartment to work on them anymore i miss that i am 6'3" tall and 370 with gorilla hands and i can not work on any of the modern cars anymore. Thanks
super helpful breakdown! thanks for this tech tip!
Love the teaching segments
Simple solution. Relocate the intake and filter to a higher location under the hood. Then you can smash all the puddles you want.
James..I wondered how more hands appeared from under the passenger side inner fender. I thought you were an alien for a minute
I love your science demonstration keep it up
"Congratulations! You have just unlocked: Slippery floor Trophy!" - Car Mechanic Simulator
From your experience, I think we all learned a bit of an important lesson about peer pressure. Don't go driving through a pond just because the cool kids are doing it.
Fluids do compress, gases are fluid
