On the other hand this is from a Rolling Stone interview with Steve published on 13 January 2017: What is your friendship with John Lydon like now?
"There is no friendship. He lives in L.A., I live in L.A., but we just don’t talk. I think the last time I spoke to him was 2008 when we did a tour of Europe. I have no desire to speak to him and he has no desire to speak to me. That’s totally fine. I wish him all the best. I’ve got no resentment toward him. It’s just our marriage went wrong and we got divorced."

As a working-class Brit, I've always respected these guys for going out and doing it for themselves. That was what was so great about all the bands that started around the same time, they were kids who had nothing and felt like they had no future yet they changed music for the better (well, for a while anyway). Not only that but the Pistols made one of the greatest rock and roll albums ever.

Met Jonesy a few times back in he 70s in NYC - I had see him onstage with Kraut, covering bodies. I was at a friend’s apartment on east 13th street, we both stopped at the buzzer, I recognized him and told him I had seen him a week ago at the club I can’t remember the name of now. And he took the praise well, and then” Can you get me in the building?”his drug dealer ws up on the 4th or 5th floor. Buzzed him in,, opened my friend’s door, you’ll never guess who I just met.” My friend mike, who lived a block up on east 13th street, was a major pistols fan and didn’t quite believe I met him. Later they became friend at gold’s gym in Los Angeles. Mike died 10 years ago; wish he were here to hear this interview.

@@davidgoodfellow2384 Talking for an hour over old times is one thing, but living under each others feet for months on end is quite another.
Lydon doesnt have many friends because hes quite an obnoxious character, and he will never give credit where credit is due. "Punk" is DIY fashion and DIY music and its that simple, so in that regard the sex pistols were a fake manufactured band who turned out to be something special for a very short period. The band were a front for a fashion shop called sex, and they were named after the fashion shop but Lydon cant stomach that truth. The clothes in said fashion shop were expensive and the people who bought them were middle class, yet elsewhere in the country like Manchester for instance, they had no "punk" fashion shop so had to alter and create their own clothes. They also created their own music and that was real punk as was what those American pioneers were doing. Lydon however will acknowledge none of this and lives in his own fantasy where everyone elses achievements need his approval. The pistols released 3 good singles and a great album but that doesnt detract from the reality..

Loved hearing these two old mates chatting. So good to hear lots of stories straight from the horses mouth and putting the record straight. Shame that Johnny got upset and left out of the making of Pistol. But I can see how Jonesy wanted to be heard because he put a lot of heart, time and energy into the band as well. And Steve's guitar playing was iconic. And let's face it, Johnny does try and make the the Sex Pistols all about him . Although probably, the Sex Pistols would never have got so famous without John. But Steve does call Johnny a genius in Pistol - was glad about that. His lyrics and persona were genius, but he shut down the other band members, and you can see they were often just tolerating him and had given up trying to argue with him. All said and done, not much is mentioned about how funny they all were , such working class wit - comedy gold and I love it. The kind of humour that springs from hardship and poverty, when it's hard to survive, sometimes all you can do is laugh,

I once saw John Lydon outside Highbury, Arsenal FC's old stadium. There were rumours that he was an Arsenal fan and that he stood on the Clock End, an uncovered terrace, which also housed the away fans. Clock Enders, such as Johnny, were known to be alternative/deranged types because a) they chose to stand in the rain b) If there was a fight, they would be the front line. The day I saw him, he looked hungover and was wearing a long brown overcoat and had spiky yellow hair. When I recognised him I smiled and he gave me a mumbled "Alright, mate". It was kind of comforting to know the legend was true and a Sex Pistol was one of us.

I saw the Sex Pistols play at the infamous Screen At The Green Islington in 1976.
They were superb. Johnny Rotten/Lydon was utterly terrifying, but he was compelling
to watch. Steve Jones was a corrosive wall of sound, the natural heir to James
Williamson. It couldn't last unfortunately but for a short while, the Pistols were the
most exciting band in the land.

I guess you could say to him "Well why didnt you speak Steve?"Maybe he was young and lacked the confidence to speak.I dont know. I thinkSteve is more tolerant of John now they are both older, but hes never going to love him like Paul Cook.@@igorjajic2726
