Well thoughtout video Tom. Just discovered your channel. Love it! BTW, my younger cousin in B.C. has a 1938 (I believe) JP Sauer & Sohn K98 that some knucklehead D&T'd for a Redfield scope & mount decades ago. It is still in 8x57 and it is his one & only do it all rifle.
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry Agreed! A real shame indeed! But this boy (actually about 50 now, I believe) is the classic example of beware of the man with but one gun. Only guy I know still using a Lyman 310 tong tool!
Planting and assembly device in English😂 the official name in the German Empire was „verlängerter Karabiner Modell 98 mit Aufpflanz- und Zusammenstellvorichtung“, extended carabiner model 98 with attachment and assembly device😂
From what I’ve seen this isn’t always the case, a lot of them were rebuilt from the Gew98 and kept the original stock configuration. The purpose built 98b always had those features you mentioned, but many were rebuilds
I really like the setting you filmed. The K98 is my favorite. Keep the videos coming Thomas. Thanks
Thanks for watching! It’s a cool place, planning to do more videos there in the future
Nice set up Thomas. Intresting to see tiny diffrences , all to save cost and machine time.
the mauser are just the best bolt action
Shout out to the boys at The War Front for letting you shoot there. Takes the vid to a whole new level
It’s a really neat backdrop! Definitely going to be doing more there in the future

Thank you kindly! Shame someone drilled into that JPS&S but still, a darn cool rifle

Thanks for watching!
I have a Gewehr 98 B - S42G with straight bolt , Nazi rebuild , beautiful Rifle with new barrel and excellent finish , all original rebuild ! 😎👍
Very nice!
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry thanks 👍
The Kar98b should have a k98k style sling cutout, a bolt cutout, as well as a takedown disc. This is a Gew98m with a bent bolt.

Didnt we also had a kar 98 for colonial troops before the k98A?
There may have been, it’s not one that I’m familiar with and isn’t spoken of in most/any of the G98 lineage articles I have read
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry I believe a schutztruppen kar 98 that was dated 1904
@alexvisser5913 I’ll have to look into that model, don’t know anything about them personally but it sounds somewhat familiar
