This is actually a very interesting take, I'm curious how you'll do if you reverse the order and start with the Kar 98 and then end with the Gewehr 98. There's a slight chance that your stance conformed to the Gewehr 98 for the most part and it didn't translate to the Kar 98 as much? I can imagine the Gewehr 98 being a bit more heavier and even front heavy which would affect follow up shots and your performance with the 98K. Also also, I think I saw less recoil from the Gewehr 98 comparatively to the 98K, its legitimately a fascinating take looking at these back to back.
Oh the Kar98k has significantly more recoil, I’m using the same ammo in both but the added weight from the longer Gew98 barrel compensates for quite a bit of the recoil. I do intend on switching the order when I do part 2 👍🏻
The Gewehr 98 is to this day(and in my opinion) one of the most beautifull guns in history, i dont know, this Old look just gets me going. Its like Revolvers, i prefer a wooden Grip over this modern rubber crap , just looks better. Much love my dude, you just earned a sub
btw the Kar98k was designed for humans to use, so you dont actually have to manually take it out and can just push the bolt forward, i can see why you manually do it though so you don't lose it.
There is a myth going around, that the stripper clip is getting damaged if you push the bolt forward with the stripper clip in. I can state it does not on my rifles, and I have read that it was made so it did not
Great video Thomas. I actually just purchased a Gewehr 98 this past week for $500. I noticed you have a sling for your K98 but not one on your Gewehr 98.
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry The floor plate is not matching and the interior of the barrel has quite a bit of pitting, but the rifle is in pretty good shape. The rifle is also dated 1915, giving me a little more sentimental attachment as that was the year of birth of my late grandmother.
You should have delayed opening the action for 30 seconds after the misfire. You could have had a dangerous hangfire go off as you opened the action. Keep the rifle aimed at the target or ground during that time.
you look like fpsrussia and i can’t unsee it
Now I can’t unsee it
id argue the loss in velocity is trivial and the shorter option was adopted for practicality

I can't pick between these two, both are my absolute favorites

Thank you kindly! And agreed on all points 👍🏻
Same ngl
this might very well be the first time I've seen a Kar98k with a sling, that's very rare to see nowadays.
Is it? I can show u mine? :)
@@Leopard_8119 well, not sure if it's rare, I just don't see it very often.
Nice shootin TomTom!
Thank you sir!
Good video! Regards from Türkiye. Gewehr 98 was used in turkish army for long years.
Thanks for watching! I actually have a Turkish M38 that was converted from a Gewehr 98 👍🏻
Elite sniper enemies rifle 😯
Bloody AWESOME!
I’m lucky to have a kar 98k, Argentine Mauser 1909.
I call them lasers.
Well done Thomas and Thankyou . 🇺🇸🇦🇺🇦🇺🇺🇸
Thanks for watching man! Always a fun day when you get to bring the Mausers out 👍🏻

For sure !
Merry Christmas to you , your family and ALL Subscribers 🎉
@nickyminter4271 Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
Really enjoyed the video. The K98 is my favorite rifle.
Thanks for watching! I’ve always loved both of these

Nice find! They are often a lot more than that. And yeah if I could find a G98 sling I would grab it

What? 500 bucks? Where?
@@linkfreeman1998 I paid five hundred dollars for my Gewehr 98 in a small, gun repair shop in Texas where I live.
Another great day at the range!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Certainly left me happy!
The Kar98, a slight change of the fore hand, and your hitting. An interesting point in itself.
I hadn’t even noticed but you are correct, may have to experiment with that a bit
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry 😁 Consitency of hold.
It would be interesting if you compare their look and changes made in k98k before shooting
I’ll make sure to get into that a bit in Part 2 👍🏻
Mauser is so accurate.
I’ve always wondered, are uou shooting on your own property or are you on public conservation/forrest land?
that the gewehr 98 performed better is not astonishing. higher quality, better balistics and.... you shot it first ;-)
When I run part two I am planning on switching the order to see if that makes any difference at all to me 👍🏻

Gewehr 98 is a little more accurate than the Kar 98K
Please gewehr 98 vs Swedish m96 Mauser batttle
Like if agree with gewehr 98 vs m96
👇
If a Mauser Rifle has a turned down bolt that is not turned down fully 90° , it is ugly .Gewehr 98 all the way .
Yeah but you fire the Swedish Mauser and realize it’s the best thing since sliced bread it feels just too nice
räumen Sie Ihre Patronenhülsen nach der Arbeit wieder ab?
Do you pick up your bullet cases when your done
Usually yes

Check my earlier videos, did this with Mosins not too long ago 👍🏻
