I don't think Daemon cried happy tears when he heard the old man died. I think he was still affected by his dream and when the news came he probably deemed it less important than what he saw in his dream. I think that was such a beautiful moment of character development. It's so cathartic.
Yes! I saw that moment as Daemon finally beginning to truly grieve for Vicerys, and ties in to the wider atmosphere of catharsis in the latter half of the episode

After hearing Aemond talk about putting Larys in charge of contacting Otto and then hearing how Alicent has been trying to get in touch with him but no answer back. I think Larys is deliberating intercepting those letters from Alicent and has no intention of contacting Otto for Aemond.
EXACTLY!!! Her brother said he hadn’t tried to write him, so that tells us everything we need to know right there. Larys is tearing the messages up and trashing them!
I’m willing to bet Alicent is gonna be like, “Ok bring me the raven, I want to do it myself”, attach the message, then send it off on her own THEN we’ll see Otto again!

If you pay attention during the scene with sheep stealer, you here sheep bleating in the background as they approach that hillside... then you see sheep skeletons... then scorched Earth. So it's fairly obvious (to book readers) that this is introducing Sheepstealer

My favorite part was seeing the kids playing with their toys with the baby dragons running around on the floor. Nice to see Cheese's dog..sorta reminds me of a Ghost sighting. 🐺

This episode really fully showed that these dragons do have unique personalities and intelligence,first it was Sunfyre being a bilingual dragon,now it's Seasmoke with the whole "fuck it I'll do it myself" mentality choosing his own rider even in Game of thrones Drogon decided to destroy the iron throne instead of killing Jon for what he did to Danny understanding that the lust she had for the iron throne corrupted her.
King Viserys was right when he said them controlling the dragons is nothing but an illusion.

Gonna be interesting to see if Otto replies to Larys calling on him to return to the Red Keep, while he's been refusing to reply to Alicent's letters. Like, Alicent is trapped in a very difficult/dangerous position now (no allies at court) if she can't get Otto to give a shit about her messages.

Well Toothless was injured (by Hiccup at that) so Hiccup had the chance to take advantage of that. Seasmoke was not in the same position, though that could've been an interesting dynamic to explore, though repetitive

I would’ve loved that scene with Mysaria if it ended with them bursting out laughing or something, noting the absurdity of the moment. To me it felt like Rhaenyra is really lonely and missed intimacy. She is a pretty sexual person. It should’ve ended with a moment that cemented a ‘friendship’ and allyship above all.

In universe, Aemond barely knew Daemon as a child, as Daemon lived in Pentos and later on Dragonstone, while Aemond lived in the Red Keep. There is no reason for Aemond and Daemon to particularly care about each other, they only become rivals when the war starts.
The only reason they're constantly compared is because the fandom loves to compare them. To make Aemond obsessed with Daemon feels forced and unrealistic.

Rhaena will be protecting the Eyrie, if anything. That was Jeyne Arryn's demand, after all. A large dragon to protect the Eyrie. She can't get Nettles' role. Also, she's more like Helaena. She's not going to ride into war. Most likely her dragon will be the Grey Ghost.

In Fire and Blood, is never specified how Daemon take controls of the Riverlands, they mostly say that show up with his dragon and everyone bend the knee, so Alys Rivers killing Grover Tully in his name is not a huge problem, Daemon may be a military leader, but he cant simply kill the Lord of the Riverlands without all of them turn against him and Rhaenyra, and this is not the first time that a Lord used magical means to eliminate a rival, like Stannis and Melisandre killing Renly, Stannis as well is a military leader but that doesn't mean that he wont use any advantage that he have to archive his goal.
The Rhaenyra Mysaria scene was so weird to me? Bc that girl just told you about her father literally violating her, you, the literal queen who's MOUNTAINS above her in station, decide to hug this girl and then do this????? It felt really gross on Rhaenyra's part tbh. Even if both parties liked it, the power dynamic is CHAOTIC here and if Nyra getting with Cole as a PRINCESS created an incel in him, she still hasn't learned to not mix pleasure with business?! Love my girl but Rhaenyra is incredibly stupid and reckless, just in a different way than men around her

The Rhaenyra sword scene I feel has to do more with her wanting to be a fighting Queen like Visenya, a queen of action. I think Visenya is a hero type character to Rhaenyra, that's something reflected back in her youth. I don't think it's about gender roles, Visenya was very much a badass woman.

I am also upset about Nettles because she is supposed to be the wedge between Daemon and Rhaenyra. She also survived the war. Her and sheepstealer disappeared into the wild. Rhaena can't disappear, her dragon hatching gives hope to the people of the Targaryen dynasty surviving. Her marriage to a Hightower produces 6 daughters that go on to spread Targaryen blood throughout several houses. Rhaena is such an important character on her own. It feels cheap to combine her with Nettles, who is an important character as well.
Rumor has it that they didn't want to show a relationship between a teenager and an older man, understable since in the books they are 16 and 49, but they could just make her older or omit the romance and have Rhaenyra just be jealous......which doesn't make sense anymore since she sees Daemon almost as an enemy now.
@user-ri6in6cl4s they had no problem showing a relationship between Viserys and Alicent or Rhaenyra and Daemon. I think there is 1 writer on this show who is just a bad writer.

Rhaena COULD claim she’s going to Pentos, run away, dye her hair and claim the monacre “Nettles” where she then gets Sheepstealer. The layman won’t know it’s Rhaena but when Daemon hears about her and confronts her, he’ll realize who she really is and become the close mentor like he is in the books. Idk I’m trying to save it at this point 😭 RIP Nettles plot line…
clearly that is exactly what happened. Maester Munkun doesn't know all that. all he knew was some mysterious person matching this description claimed a dragon.

That just doesn’t hold up. It would be very odd for them to have somehow been conflated, especially since we know where Rhaena ended up.

I called it last week. I knew they were gonna completely flip the script. No Nettles, Laena youngest daughter is gonna be a dragon rider, instead of Daemon running off to cheat with Nettles it’s gonna be Rhaenyra doing the cheating with ole girl who will end up betraying her. The show runners didn’t learn for GOT mistake by straying far from the source material

@@Darkness-ie2yl The source material might not fill in motivations, like what Aemond was thinking over Storm's End, but this "adaptation" is leaving our actual characters, like Maelor who George called "Maelor the Missing" in his blog. Now we have Nettles excluded. So if the plan is anything goes, we can also have characters survive that died in the book, since it's all "rumors."

I don't understand why you think it takes away from Daemon's military prowess that he has trouble uniting and mustering the Riverlands at first. Like, that has to do with diplomatic skill - which both book and show Daemon are lacking in - not military skill.

@@last7509 what diplomacy did Cole use to garner house darklins fighters? Daemon has a dragon and the ability to take hostages, furthermore the brackens have declared for the greens so he would be well within his rights to kill their lord and take their castle.

I like the individual pieces of the rhaenyra/mysaria part. The true story behind mysaria’s scar, their growing bond and rhaenyra’s reliance on her, rhaenyra being close to giving up and mysaria saying “I trust no one but I trust and believe in you” - those were all great individual pieces. I’m down for their bond to grow into a romantic one but I think juxtaposing an SA story with a kiss is always gonna come off as icky/inappropriate to me. Should’ve just stared deeply into each others’ eyes for now and kissed later imo

Hell yeah half of the things on my bingo card hit this episode. The reason Alys shaves with Alyn Oakfist came true. Aegon and Larys are gonna have some comradery. Aemond bullying Aegon. Daemon finally had to face Viserys and Mysaria using sweet propoganda to win the heart and minds of Kingslanding had me.
Love the propaganda too. Plus as she cares, her people got some food. Otto burnt her house down and didn't save the kids in the fighting pits.
My favorite scene was when that food came and all hell broke lose, then Alicent get hit in the face with a rotted fish😂
