Thank you so much for your kind words 19:34. Fantastic video. Honestly just hearing you talk about it reminded me of how incredibly excited I was when I first signed onto the project. I just knew this game was special.

Omg I'm so hyped up to find a guy that helped for one of the greatest games I've played and at the same time feel so sorry that I haven't seen this before. I guess it's to late but while I'm at it might as well send love cause I like very much your work
"But when the world needed him most, he got stunlocked to death by three laser cyclopses because he picked up both Double Toil and Double Trouble on the same run."
This game is great, not as just a rouge-like, but also it’s one of the best WIZARD themed games out there. When you think about it, there’s not that many wizard themed games so Wizard of Legend really scratches that itch for me.
It's a little and far from perfect game but "Spellcaster University" is really nice to play if you like wizards (magic school managing, with a card system to randomize a bit each game)
Honestly I agree. I really like how they handle the player using magic as a basic attack. In most RPGs they'll have you sitting in place while channeling a fireball or a bunch of random projectiles that function near identically to each other. In this game you actually get to actually "use" the magic without being bound by an abritrary mana system and casting "spells". It's almost like you're actually manipulating the elements like the guy said.
I used to be so obsessed with this game some time ago and even when i don't play it that much anymore i still feel so attached to it that it's painful. I know that it's made by two people and they are probably doing other things by now since i don't see any news from them on social media anymore, but i really wish that one day they'll make another game that shows us more of the world and it's lore. By the way it's sad you haven't mentioned the dev commentary mode that you can select when you are changing language. It's literally my favourite part of the game and i think more people should know about it.
Thanks for featuring one of my tunes! Multiplayer in this game adds a whole new dimension to making builds and finding complimentary spell combos and archetypes is a lot of fun
Tip for those getting into it: EZ mode is boosting crit chance with low-damage, multi-hit abilities and that one starter item that heals on crits. It's almost like the game gives you natural regen.
I would love to see them create a sequel to this game that’s an RPG or ARPG. After playing a ton I’ve found it doesn’t really scratch that “rogue-like itch” as different runs don’t feel substantially different. The combat, spells, and animations are way too fantastic not to be utilized in an adventure game. I could see the wizarding world being expanded as well.
That would be sick. This game is honestly really damn good and really damn fun-art style fits great, it could totally be even BIGGER if it went straight up RPG. I still do like the rogue like aspect, but really the biggest thing for me was finding and unlocking new abilities and trying new builds. The sheer amount of spells left you with a ton of shit to try. Wish I could just give these guys a bunch of money and just ask em to keep updating it! Haven’t played anything like it yet.
I was interested in this game since it's combat system is really similar to Crosscode's now after watching this video, I'm convinced to buy the game because of the atla references
This comment reminds off how I should play Crosscode again, I stopped playing it because my progress got wiped, but Crosscode is such a good game, I should really really play it again.
My favourite thing about the aggressive playstyle design in wol is the fact that the signature spell is a use it or lose it kind of thing. Where once it's charged, the bar continues to drop until you either use it, or you lose it. Making it so that you end up using your super cool finishing move most of the time, or get punished by losing it instead :P
I have 205 hours on this game, which is the first of all the solo games I've played, and I love that finally someone makes a big vid about it. I hope it gets the most attention possible so we can get more people on this masterpiece. I love the vid, it just made me discover a guy that looks like I'm gonna follow for more content like this
Great video! I'm a bit late to the party, but after seeing this video, I decided to blow the dust off this game that has been sitting in my steam library since the summer and finally play it. You really put out quality content, despite being such a small channel. I'm looking forward towards your next video.
I hope your channel blows up so this video blows up and more people start playing this game. I really want this game to get more major updates. For example, I'd love to see the campaign continue but this time against an actual villain. I want this game to get as much content as hades or into the gungeon. I really really really like this game
Game's great I always liked how you're _allowed_ to become super powerful. No arbitrary dps cap on bosses or cap on the amount of dodge chance you can have or what have you. If you get all those items together, focus your build, and you manage to pull your big brain plan off, you get to reap the rewards.

Bro, the reason i'm not playing these months is because my computer broke just before the new patch and now i'm just doing daylies in Slay the Spire on my phone
Hey dude, for one year now there has been a growing pvp community for WoL and some of the people have joined thanks to your video. So, thanks for making a great video about such an underrated game :)
Thanjs for the insightful breakdown. Not only was it wise and thorough - it also helped me circumvent the main issue I had with the game. I felt like I couldn't master it bc I felt like everything was too claustrophobic and I constantly got stunlocked. But your breakdown made me realize that I've been playing all wrong! Now I'm excited to see how things change when I approach the game as a glass cannon, a whirling dervish of elemental fury.
Your review of this game got recommended to me quite randomly while I was binge-searching for something to play after finishing a particularly challenging semester at uni. Fast forward to the end of your video -- the game was already downloaded with me excited to try it out. Thanks!
I am sold on it's concept revolving around Avatar alone honestly. At some point it would be cool to see it finalized with maybe an element referred to as Order. Which would effectively be light. I love the 4 standard elements plus lightning. But I do love the concepts of light and dark as well for elements of some kind to manipulate.
I was sold from the moment you mentioned the lack of invincibility frames. I’ve always wanted to see what an action game that ran with such a concept would be like.
When I realized you were the guy of the mantis lords video I went crazy. Man you are incredible always making this high quality videos keep like that (sorry if my english was a bit weird, I'm not a native speaker)
Thank you for showcasing this game! I'm here after looking for something similar to Doomtower and I think I just found my next big game to play with my hubby. I absolutely loved the hunor and the editing and I'm completely not believed when I whine that its not just cuz of the beautiful avatar intro.
I'm certainly going to use this video as a reference. This was a well detailed video of my favorite rouge-like dungeon game so far. I haven't played much others like Binding of Isaac and the i-frames I had no clue about. Some points I blame the game for some of the things that happened where I resulted in falling but most of the time I blame my self for that especially at stage 3. But yeah, the muscle memory can affect how you come into the game and how you leave the game.
I actually bought this a while back for the switch but had some trouble getting into it. You've convinced me to try again so let's see if it gets me this time.
Bless you for this vid. I was initially put off from trying this game based on some criticisms on its lack of i-frames, but after giving it a shot, it's every bit as thrilling as you made it out to be. I was honestly looking for a good spellcasting & fighting game, and this game has one of the best implementations of it. Thanks for the vid, and am super grateful for the devs for all the effort they put into this fun game.
Been a subscriber since your first video, mate, so here’s a comment for the algorithm god. Funny enough, I’ve got this game on Switch for years and just recently restarted a new profile on it after it failed to hook me the first time through. I think your point about minimum i-frames and careful positioning is gonna help me enjoy the game so much more now. Thanks, and keep it going~
This video is great and I've been looking for a game like this for a while, I need to write this down somewhere so I can get the game when I have time Also if you like vr then Rumble is probably the best earthbending game in existence. The barrier to entry is high due to how precise you need to be to execute any move in the game (rotation and position if your hands are important and the game does NOT compromise) but its very satisfying to improve at and it will make you feel like YOU are an earthbender, not that your character is. I highly recommend it if you're willing to push through the barrier to entry
Got this game not too long ago and have beaten normal mode once and the boss rush once, and it's definitely one of my favorite roguelikes that I've played. Been looking for an actual wizard game for some time, but most seem like they're very slow or just have the same spell with a different element (limited in what I can play though, only have an Xbox), so the fact that this game has quick combat _and_ varying spells is amazing. Had so much fun playing and I will ideally collect all Chaos arcana sometime soon. Also, can we talk about just how epic Sura's boss theme is? Definitely portrays the power he has, I feel. Mostly just wanted to rant about the game, it's very fun. Also, I may be several months late, but fantastic video. Really didn't expect a single person to have so many videos covering many of my favorite games, but I guess there always is a chance for anything.
Just found your channel and really like the content! You seem like the type of person that could blow up at any moment. I think you need to fix a couple things for the algorithm but the videos are great. Keep up the good work man
Honestly did not know that WoL had almost no i-frames until now. Would've gotten it during the autumn sale had I knew, but hey at least the winter sale is close by. Thanks for making this video; I'm convinced!
glad you like it. Weve been running a competitive pvp league. if you wanna check out our youtube channel and our league discord ruclips.net/channel/UC_ZRdw-UvKd6bvtzj7zF-pA discord.gg/fb2eGye2AG
My favorite playstyle is to use the chaos dash that deals damage when you dash through enemies, and stacking that with the electric cloak and other lingering passive spells. It lets you just dash through enemies to kill them and it absolutely melts bosses!
I will not finish the video, just because I tend to be a lot less interested in something if I've been spoiled (which in this case just means I don't want to know any more about the final boss). I will, however, be playing the game in a moment because you've convinced me to try it out. 10/10 video.
Excellent video, loved every moment of it. Might have convinced me to pick up this game again for a second try! (Although I should /really/ do that for Hades as well...)
bruh the references and the editing are top quality. This video made my whole day (I can say that because it is 11:42 PM and I don't plan on watching any other videos) Good job!
I honestly didn't think I could get this interested in something a random video on my recommended showcased. But here we are. Subbed and will get this game.
i cant believe you didnt mention sparky sparky boom man or cabbage man in your various reasons to love avatar but i digress your reasons were also very well thought out and agreeable
Thank you for shining light on such an underrated game gameplay wise, you perfectly summarized why i enjoyed it so much despite having never heard of it
in terms of game mechanics, my two favorite action games has always been MGS revengeance and Bayonetta by a landslide. I played a fair amount of the Legend of Korra game too and that was pretty fun as well. I've recently been getting back into videogames and have been looking for that one action game that scratches that itch. We have a winner. Thanks for this video!
Honestly, when I played this game for the first time, I wasn't really sold on it. While I liked the fact that you had legitimate starting spells and I liked how good the combat felt I wasn't really sold on the game. That is, until I fought a major boss for the first time. A lot of roguelike bosses have attacks that are either functionally threatening but don't feel all that threatening or feel threatening without having a legitimate threat behind it. For example, Slime Boss's Slime Crush and The Guardian's Hyper Beam feel very threatening in Slay the Spire because they deal a lot of damage, but it's usually possible to deal enough damage to them such that they don't get to use those moves. On the flipside, The Concierge and Conjunctivius in Dead Cells never feel all that threatening because it's so easy to kite The Concierge with a range weapon and/or gadgets with ranged attacks and it's so easy to dodge Conjunctivius' attacks when he doesn't have his tentacles out, but they are very threatening because they can deal a lot of damage if they get the right hit(s) in. In Wizard of Legend, the bosses both felt threatening and were functionally threatening. There are, of course, some other roguelikes that did this well too (Darkest Dungeon and Rogue Legacy come to mind), but what also made Wizard of Legend's bosses special is that they felt like they were far too powerful. The bosses keep using massive attacks that are hard to dodge but also make the bosses look super cool while doing them. But it's also not just that: they taunt you mid-fight, which gives you an opening to fight back and get your combos on. I feel like Wizard of Legend has my favorite collection of bosses in any roguelike, and I haven't even fought the final boss yet (I skipped over that point in your video so I didn't spoil it for myself), and I feel like the bosses really pushed the game into being one of my favorite roguelikes, so I'm mildly upset that you didn't talk about them at all. Also, the game technically has mana. It's just that you build it up over time and use it to cast the enhanced version of your signature spell.
I remember following this project since 2016, when it finally released I was beyond excited but only played it for a few hours. Never really managed to get into it. But your video and seeing the game played with a controller really sparked my interest again! Gonna give it another shot tonight.
I clicked on the video thinking "eh sure I'll give ya 21 minutes to sell me", and then I saw the gameplay in the first few seconds and instantly went to wishlist it on xbox lol. Congrats on selling me I guess? Can't wait to see the rest of the video
The hades i-frame info is why I'm here lol. I was so confused how why I kept getting hit even while dashing. Amazing video..just grabbed the game today
@Mezzamine I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you play “Rift Wizard” it’s another hidden gem roguelike that will give you that “avatar mastery” feel. It’s turn based but I assure you, you will enjoy it
At first I thought this video was one of those ads where they take imagery from something well known to nostalgia bait people into playing a crappy mobile game.
I love wizard of legend it has consumed me in its grind and is genuinely so fun it takes a solid amount of skill with a nice amount of luck combined with the fact you feel like the avatar it’s just perfect
Just got this on sale and absolutely love it. You hit almost all my major thoughts on it. The one other gripe I would add is, I wish it was easier to get dashes and basic attacks. I've been stuck with 3 dashes forever now. Haven't even gotten an earth or lightning yet. Otherwise, I think the game is amazing.
To get more you have to buy relics jus keep buying relics and you'll eventually have a new shop it's like a background mechanic in the game u can't buy certain arcana unless you have alot of relics
Another really good avatar game is crosscode which I couldn't stop thinking about watching this these games are sooo good at doing fancy atacks with elements but god does wizard of legend have a TON of variety of moves
I always see this game pop up and i would always day ima try it but never committed. Your review pushed me over the fence, gonna buy it as soon as I can
The moment my eye caught the footage of the final boss fight around 3 years ago, I fell in love. I have an unstoppable hunger for fights with crazy effects and even more crazy speeds (FF7 movie which I rewatched a ton of times in my childhood is guilty for this). I really rarely can fulfill the urge in most of video games, but this one did it. You need to think fast, dodge in right direction and not fall in spikes, figure out the best spell combo on your hands. If not for playing this so much it got monotonous, I would still be playing once in a while. Got the replacement by rhythm games.
I am new to this game and I just want to say this is one of the few wizard games that does it right. I mean most wizard games that do wizards right. It is not just using different colored beams of light. The spells are actually complex and have a bunch of different combinations and effects. Great wizard game.
I picked up the game last week thanks to this video and i'm having a blast. Got to Sura for the first time yesterday and he beat my ass in the second phase but i can't wait to fight him again!

Just found your channel. Amazing video! There is something cathartic about earing a game review in a very chill tone.
Great video, I'll definitely check this game out. And the last few seconds, best part of the video, if not the internet. Only missing 'think, mark'.
Man there need to be more games that have the avatar feel, the idea of bending is so fun!
Amazing video, will link this to my other friends that I want to get on this game. I feel like a lot of people slept on it, criminally slept on.
Excellent video, loved every moment of it. Might have convinced me to pick up this game again for a second try! (Although I should /really/ do that for Hades as well...)
bruh the references and the editing are top quality.
This video made my whole day (I can say that because it is 11:42 PM and I don't plan on watching any other videos)
Good job!
Really excellent and well-written comment, thank you!
You know a game is good, when you can make a montage of it with the Final Agni Kai sound track, and have it fit perfectly.
I remember following this project since 2016, when it finally released I was beyond excited but only played it for a few hours. Never really managed to get into it. But your video and seeing the game played with a controller really sparked my interest again! Gonna give it another shot tonight.
And two years later, I found a new game to check out. Thanks for pointing this hidden gem out.
This game is incredible. Came across it in the beginning of the year and could t believe I hadn't heard about it before. Great video
I clicked on the video thinking "eh sure I'll give ya 21 minutes to sell me", and then I saw the gameplay in the first few seconds and instantly went to wishlist it on xbox lol. Congrats on selling me I guess? Can't wait to see the rest of the video
Great, now “secret tunnels” will be stuck in my head
only major creator to bring up magicka an underrated jewel as good elemental game, i thank you.
“But when the world needed him most, he died to a trash mob on floor 1”
So this is what it feels like waiting for the avatar to come back.. Can't believe I've only found out about this now.
The hades i-frame info is why I'm here lol. I was so confused how why I kept getting hit even while dashing. Amazing video..just grabbed the game today
This gave me an amazing idea for my own magic system in my game idea. Thanks for brining awareness to this game
Nice video! Good summary of the game imo.
I've always wanted more games like WoL, where you play both with and against a friend in a rogue like.
@Mezzamine
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you play “Rift Wizard” it’s another hidden gem roguelike that will give you that “avatar mastery” feel. It’s turn based but I assure you, you will enjoy it
‘One of my favourite boss-rushes this side of the hollow knight pantheons’
Amazing
3:56 Bro the delivery of these lines is probably the bread and butter of these videos, but the script reveals are the delicious sandwich of hilarity
this was all the convincing i needed, the game is installing right now
When you talked about flow and being aware of everything I instantly thought of Sifu
This game really reminds me of another one of my favorites, crosscode
Another really good avatar game is crosscode which I couldn't stop thinking about watching this these games are sooo good at doing fancy atacks with elements but god does wizard of legend have a TON of variety of moves
Ah you make me want to play this so badly, great video!
Man, I randomly get the Secret Tunnel song stuck in my head all the time...
back in 2018 i see forsen play this and immediately fall in love with it for quite a time
Finally, another Wizard of Legend enjoyer.
If you want another really good roguelike you should absolutely check out skul: the hero slayer
MY favorite game during middle school, such great memories, I have redownload the game and it still the greatest wizard game of all time!
Got to Sura for the first time yesterday and he beat my ass in the second phase but i can't wait to fight him again!
this video made me play wizard of legends additionally hade and additionally made me watch avater
Lovely game discussion, got me interested in the game's overall idea and a good video to booth 👍
